Interesting topic for this week, Lindsey. 😊 I have The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian on my shelf. Not sure why I haven’t read it yet, but I love the cover. For some reason, it reminds me of The Indian in the Cupboard. I agree with you about authors’ notes. I haven’t read anything by Lisa Yee, but another friend had recommended reading her Shanghai Girls. And, I love the cover of The House in the Cerulean Sea. I keep saying I’m going to buy it because so many people talk highly about it. All of these books sound terrific. 📚
I loved Brown Girl DreamingI. have Red at the Bone that she wrote but haven't read it yet. Have you? Snow Flower sounds like one I need to get my hands on.
It really is hard to explain the representation of mad honey without giving it away. Actually, a lot of people were pretty upset about it because it was used for shock factor. Some people were upset and offended it was used for shock factor and some people were upset because they felt like they were tricked in to reading about the subject. So this book sort of has complicated feelings,

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan was great. I read it years ago for a book club. I still remember parts of it especially the foot binding.

Yes!! Mad Honey was so good. House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favorites. It’s a wonderful audiobook.
