I LOVE THE PILLOW IN THE BACKGROUND!!💗☺️ I want to read orphan train. I've seen it several times on YT. The kitchen house sounds really good too.

Love your pillow! And it's so true! I actually miss characters a day or so until I get into another read that is. LOL! Great Vids!

1000 White Women absolutely one of my favorite books! Have the sequel, just haven’t cracked it open yet.

I love historical fiction and have read some of these but will definitely be looking into the rest. I find myself going for world war 2 or Victorian era the most. Here are a few of my favorites.
The Kitchen boy by: Robert Alexander
Sarah’s key by: Tatiana De Rosnay
The other Boleyn Girl by: Philippa Gregory (all of hers are amazing really)
Gone with the Wind by: Margaret Mitchell
    The nightingale By: Kristen Hannah

Burr, 1876, Creation, the Eight, The fire. The 3 first are by vidal and the latter 2 by Neville. And of course Michener has too many to name but none of the above are small emotional novels . And you could add Stones works. Follett , Cooper, Eco.

Loved several of these: orphan train, snow flower & the secret fan and have added even more to my TBR.

I hardly ever hear people talk about Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. I thought it was brilliant. Definitely a punch in the gut.

Oh my, historical fiction, my favorite genre! I can make a lot of recommendations for some good ones. I'll steer away from WWII since that was a separate video (though you HAVE to read Salt to the Sea! You'll love it!)
Jojo Moyes has several good ones - The Girl You Left Behind, The Ship of Brides and Last Letter From Your Lover. These all have a dual past and present time line like Orphan Train. Some others that employ this technique are The Perfume Collector, The Forgotten Seamstress, The Thirteenth Tale and all of Susanna Kearsley's books (my favorites are The Winter Sea, The Rose Garden and Desperate Fortune. I think all of these also have a romance element.) I also liked Rules of Civility and A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, Moloka'i by Alan Brennert, The Light Between Oceans by ML Stedman, Burial Rites by Hannah Kent, Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. These are just some of my favorites.

I love everything about this list!!! I own The Perfume Collector and The Forgotten Seamstress (which I might have read - I'll have to check Goodreads). I've always wondered if I would like The Thirteenth Tale. And I totally forgot to talk about The Light Between Oceans - that was a WONDERFUL book! I just put Salt to the Sea on my nightstand - it's totally getting read as soon as I get through Lonesome Dove.

Ooohhh excited to see A Painted House on your list. I've been wanting to pick up a John Grisham novel and when I saw he wrote a historical fiction story, I grabbed it!

You sound like you have kind of the same reading style as me. I love Kate Morton and Jeffrey Archer. I have read The Painted House (and loved it). On my to be read pile at the moment, I have Orphan Train and The Kitchen House :)

I tend to read a lot of WW2 books. My favorite is Night and the Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I did read the Help recently which was civil war I think and a long long time ago I read Gone With the Wind which I plan to reread soon. It's on my 50/50 list. I own the orphan train and kitchen house they are on my TBR shelf. So many books so little time.

The Boy in Striped Pajamas was so amazing! I still think about that book.

The Help wasn't the civil war era. It was Civil Rights era (hence JFK & MLK references).

You know what? I didn't even catch that. I read it as if you wrote civil rights. Oh well. It is still an amazing book!

I read A Painted House several years ago and LOVED it! I don’t care as much for John Grisham as I used too, and after reading House, I often wish he would get off legal fiction and write more like that book. I love all types of HF and have been thinking of getting more into the WWII fiction. My favorites, though, are the Tudor era and Civil War HF. Thanks for this great video!

Hey, some great recommendations here! Hearing you talk about Snow Flower and the Secret Fan brought back memories of loving that book! I read The Lake House last year and really enjoyed it so I need to get on to reading some of her other books. I really enjoyed Burial Rites and Poppy Factory and would recommend them... Lindsi xx

The Secret Keeper is my second favorite to Kate Morton's The Forgotten Garden, so check out that one next. It's also is a WWII one set during the Blitz. I'm leaning The American Revolution and the 1920s.

Only Time Will time Frank Archers series sounds a lot like Howard Fast's Lavette family series. If you haven't read them grab them when you can this is a wonderful series. They were wrote in the 70s but this makes them even better to me. Im gonna give Archers series a go I've never read anything by him.

Have you read Loving Frank by Nancy Horan? It's fictional but Horan used newspaper articles, etc to create the story of Frank Lloyd Wright. I'm not an architect fanatic but it was a well done story.

I liked The Orphan Train" it was so interesting. I loved Snow Flower and The Secret Fan. I either own or have The Kitchen House on my Overdrive wishlist. The Painted House sounds rather interesting. John Grisham is a hit or miss author; some of his book's I really enjoyed and others i hated. Also have Lonesome Dove on reserve at Overdrive.. Are you listening to the audiobook.

I'm not listening to the audiobook for Lonesome Dove. I'm actually carrying that huge book around with me. I figure it counts as my exercise for the day. :)
