This video is a bit of a new frontier for me; longer run time, no music, and slower takes. I like the more "conversational" feeling it has to it. How do y'all feel about it??
So many TH-cam creators (myself included) have started taking this approach and I feel like my audience resonates with it much more. It's like a TH-cam renaissance. I love it
I feel like an oddball carying around a pen and paper when all my classmates are writing on ipads lol, but seriously I can't give up the feel and psychological benefit of a good ole notebook and pen!
This is a compliment. You spoke for 12 minutes about a notebook, with style. I have the larger version and they're great like the OG Moleskin's now. I've switched to Rhodia graphic paper pads now as the two brands are way too expensive for what they are in the UK.
Aw man, thank you so much! I really appreciate you saying that :) Heck yeah, Rhodia is so good, too! I've got one of their B6 journals and love the feeling of the paper. Haven't tried the graphic paper pads but I'm sure they're excellent, too. Thanks for watching! :)
Love this style of vid Steven! Couldn't agree more that having a notebook handy is especially helpful for creatives/artists. I don't know where I'd be without one! Good stuff brother!
I’ve been off and on in using a notebook in my life. Anytime I’m using physical notes I always feel more on top of everything! I like this pocket-sized version. Might need to try it out. Great video! 😊
Dude, yes! It's such a satisfying feeling! I personally connect with the pocket size the most, especially because of travel. I feel like the space limitation also helps really zero in on the most important stuff every day. Thanks so much for watching, Zach! :)
I loved them but then switched to something in the B6 format, I truly think it's the ultimate format for notebooks, though it's not really pocketable when I just need a very quick note I use my phone, for anything else I prefer something bigger than A6 but smaller than A5
@@StevenSchultz rollbahn! nice paper, rings so it makes it easier to write everywhere and pages are yellowish which I much prefer to white. At the end of the notebook there's some transparent sleeves too, also you can buy extra pages/accesories/things you can add, truly the best :' )
Love the new style! I use the basic notebooks from MUJI - love using pocket notebooks to braindump while enjoying a coffee - feel energised and lighter afterwards and I would recommend it to anyone!
Thank you so much! And yes!! MUJI makes some of the best stuff. Such a good way to just collect a bunch of thoughts and easily tap back into them later. Thanks so much for watching!!
Welcome to the world of journaling!! Haha I totally get that. Field Notes are awesome for specific applications, but they get filled up quick. It's great to have something with more pages for long-term use! Appreciate you dude, hope you're doing well!!
Oh my gosh you're RIGHT! I totally forgot to mention that, I love the page numbers! Actually recently realized just how much I appreciate them when I was clearing out storage and found an old Moleskine that didn't have page numbers. Thanks for mentioning that, and for watching the video! :)
I picked up a couple of these to try out but haven't finished my current generic notebook yet. About the bleed, is the ink coming through the page onto the next one, or does it just show through the page?
@@StevenSchultz Thanks for answering. I might try using a lighter color of ink. Turquoises and teals seem to have a good balance between show-through and readability.
When ink show through the page, it's called ghosting. You may try use a finer point pen than the one you're using now. Using lighter color of ink may not help, especially if you're fond of the color you're using now. Try another brand of ink instead.
@@changabriela3412 ghosting doesn't bother me. I have noticed that lighter colors of ink have less noticeable ghosting, even with a broad or stub nib. And, as you said, a finer nib also works.
You nailed it!! Yes, that was the Schmidt fineliner in a brass travel pen from Shinola. Lovely combo, just a little too much bleed for this specific notebook. Agreed, a finer tipped option would be amazing! I love the microns for some of my design work, but I should use them for writing more. Always love finding someone with a similar love and taste for these things! Thanks for the comment, and for watching :)
@@StevenSchultz and the brass too 😩🤌🏽 I just found an unused a6 leuchtturm in my closet. Completely unused 🤯 The form factor is incredible but you absolutely must try a Midori MD a6 if you haven’t yet
I'm very disappointed about Leuchtturm notebooks. They're very expensive. And the shimmering ink lost all the shimmer on this paper. Mnemosyne notebook is much better, keeps all the shimmer and costs less.
That’s a bummer to hear! What kind of ink are you using with the Leuchtturm notebooks? I hadn’t heard of Mnemosyne, but they look excellent. Definitely want to try one!
@@StevenSchultz KWZ (Polish) ink, color is called Sheen Machine 2. Correction to my comment above, I meant sheen, not shimmer. Mnemosyne notebook is made by Maruman (Japan). I believe the paper is very well-known in Japan. The Leuchtturm is a journalling notebook, looks extremely handsome. The Mnemosyne that I was comparing it to was a ringed-notebook. I think they offer journalling notebook too, maybe under the Maruman name, I'm not sure. They both use very good papers, provided that you keep your expensive sheening ink away from Leuchtturm. Thank you for your video!

Love the format. No fuss, no music, just a simple review of a simple object. Really lets your personality shine through - nice work.
Here for it. Just subbed. Well done man.
It’s a nice convo. Btw, I use the bookmarks. The beauty of our notebooks is that we can use them after our own style. You do you.
Nothing gets me more excited about notebooks, pens, and documenting your life. LFG!!

I’ve been using one of these for years in army green. It hold my life and brain. It’s the perfect size and the paper is wonderful.

The field notes pocket notebooks with a closable slip clover are great for your actual pocket. Some of them even have a pen loop in the middle.
Heck yeah! Do you have any recommendations on a cover? I’ve used so many field notes over the years but never tried it with a cover or pen loop!
He’s back!
Join me!!! ;)
New subie here and I’m not an artist, but glad i came across your work. I totally agree about having a physical book and paper to write/plan on.
Thank you so much, Albert! Really appreciate you watching, and so glad you enjoyed the video! :)
I want to give this video 6 stars if I could. Please do more notebook videos.

I'm using my Leuchtturm with the Uni-ball AIR 0.7. A little bleed, but love the writing experience
Nice!! That’s such a good combo!
Love it bro! Loved chatting about notebooks in our calls for GraftedMedia. I think you've inspired me to try the Leuchtturm!
