I had this whole process down before I found this video minus the printing onto already foiled paper( I thought about it but was skeptical if it would work) but I couldn’t figure out why my ink was smudging and scraping off super easily even after 48 hours of dry time. The print settings in this video just changed my life thank you. Simply switching your print paper negates every problem I had
@Kyle Sullivan th-cam.com/video/f8uZnCub_RU/w-d-xo.html he has the links in his description that I use. He also shows his process start to finish. I just used the second template he has and erased the border to make borderless cards and the first template is really good for full art cards.
Excellent video, this is a great way to start making foil proxies without needing to invest too much time or money into materials. The only downside is the overall glossy nature of holo sticker paper, which can make the cards look "plastic". One solution I've found is to use a VERY SMALL amount of Krylon clear matte finish, which not only protects the ink layer but helps reduce the glossy shine without sacrificing the shimmer of the foil layer.
I use holographic vinyl sticker paper purchased from a local shop online (updated the printer and vinyl sticker paper used). This can also be done on vinyl non-foil glossy or matte sticker paper.
The holo sticker paper I use is branded as "PET". I order mine online from local retailers. Just make sure that whatever paper you get is compatible with your printer type.
@@kennyzamora8969 Sorry for the late reply. Video description has been updated with the link to where I source my sticker paper. Note that they have to be vinyl sticker paper. Couldn't get good results with non-vinyl sticker paper.
Hi there. Are the setting different if printing on laserjet printer? I have tried printing these on the same holographic paper with my laserjet using Indesign. I print 300DPI with CMYK settings but when I print, the colors look dull.
@@maxdunn1989 Thank you man, I screenshot it to show a friend who started making proxies! He told me what it was and we're gonna try our hands at making some together with different foil patterns! could you post a video or template on how to size the images and place them on a sheet like you have at the start of the video? Ive got paper printer and proxy files but cant seem to get over the hump
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure magic cards have a corner radius of 3mm where your corner cutter has 4mm listed on it. That would be why they don't line up. Instead of cutting both you can just get a corner cutter that does 3mm corners. No hate tho other than that great vid!
@@Felynia04 my bad I skimmed through! I found one pretty easily on Amazon but that’s in canada. Some of them just have “S M and L” sizes but the S happened to be 3mm I’m sure you can find it!
The problem is, that the foiled proxy from you, has another thickness as the other cards in the deck. You will feel that during shuffle or drawing, and thats not ok in my opinion. Its the same when someone is only double sleeving the expensive cards in the deck.
It's minimal at best like really you would need to pull out the scale to see which ones weight a very very very small amount more. I'm not saying you're wrong because you aren't but I am saying is for a casual kitchen table event if they are going through that much to cheat you, they would just cheat in other ways.... And since they aren't allowed in tournament well nuff said
I know what you're trying to say, I want this to use it for foil tokens. Not every token is printed in a new frame and artwork. So this is the perfect way for it. And it is completely legal and tournament friendly. But you have to name the artist and rights of WoTC. Also you have to make it understandable for your opponent. I think this is a nice way and very creative. Also a bit personal thing you can add to your deck without making any trouble. It's a bit the same for designing deckboxes and playmats
@@numbbane I mean the tournament thing is depending on where you are my lgs allows proxies but you gotta bring ur real cards with you cuz if anyone thinks the rules text is different you can show them it is not.
In my experience, though i only own 1 foil proxy, while it’s double sleeved in my deck I can’t tell a difference until i draw it. Shuffling and having my deck sit there I couldn’t point out where it is
I use a very old HP Inkjet that I've had laying around. Have yet to try printing on a laser printer. Updated the video description with the inkjet printer model.
Can we please get a link to this brand of foil paper? Or at least some more info or something to help us find something similar to this product? I gave you a like, I will hit the subscribe button if I get a link to this sticker paper your using. Thanks
I've printed black and white art on the holo vinyl sticker paper and they also look great. Not nearly as cool as yugioh ghost rare quality but still pretty striking.
That is true. It becomes about as thick (or a smidge bit thicker) as a double sleeved card. I usually leave the proxies single sleeved in a double sleeved deck to even things out.

@Kyle Sullivan good luck. Hopefully you can figure out the program quickly. It really is kinda fun once you get the hang of it
@Kyle Sullivan you’re welcome
Can you make a video where you show the process of sizing and creating the sheet you are going to print for proxies
8.78 cm long
I print on an A4 sized sheet, set the photoshop psd to inches and then measure the MTG card size (3.5in x 2.5in)

Put them in matte sleeves and it will solve that
If you don't want to waste a card and aren't worried about having an mtg back, you can just laminate the sheet before you cut it
Huge Brain
GOATED music selection!! MVC2!!!
This is amazing. I like to make foil tokens, now, thanks to this video, I don't have to mess with Acetone anymore. Thank you for the video!
pro tip if you want to save paper: print 3x3 per page instead of 2x4
What specific printer do you recommend for both proxies and normal printing of documents
Hey, which foil paper/sticker are you using ? I can't find a link to it.
Thanks !

How about the product links?
Do you change the opacity when printing on the foil paper?
any chance you could share the card sheet print psd file you are using?
Better quality than wotc
the dark arts!
Tank you so much for this I plan on at least taking the mtg back sticker from woe play promo for the backs of my altars
i saw a 3mm corner puncher on amazon

Question: i want to add the foil visual effect to the outside of a figure. How to i apply this to an object that isn't paper?
Dude, do you have some king of configuration (bright, constrast, exposition, CMYK or RGB) to print fidelity cards like original?
Where did you get the artwork? I’m struggling with this
Scryfall is really good
Is there any other way to do it so they don't look glossy? I don't know if there is a matte transparent paper
