    you basicly left out the most important part of the process....how do we get the printed image, onto the clear foil card?

    • @MTGDegree
      @MTGDegree  6 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      I guess I didn't explicitly say or show that. The adhesive transparencies have a paper backing that you peel off, and then you stick the foil face of the card onto the adhesive side of the transparency. Cut around the edges, and you're done :) Hope that helped!

      I was honestly confused about that a bit as well, my brain must have skipped over the transparent part of the adhesive xD

      There is a way to basically print directly on the card, but it is a lot harder. Planning on making an advanced proxy tutorial to cover this, as it has the best result :)

    I have used these transparencies many times and they work very well. The one downside is if anything scratches them the ink comes off very easily. They are not like the old transparencies you used to be able to buy at staples.

    I've had great results with this method thanks! However I have 2 major problems. 1 on carda with lots of dark color in it the ink doesn't dry period. Like I'll put it in front of a heater for 15 minutes and sleeve it and it looks fine but in the morning I can see spots on the inside of the sleeve where the ink has become wet. My 2nd problem is the bottom of the cards tend to have the ink scraped up easily around the borders when sleeving it any ideas on what I can do to fix these 2 issues? Maybe if there was a way for me to send you pictures about what I'm talking about it would be easier to help. Thanks so much for the tutorial, I love making my own gorgeous foil proxies so much now!

    This reminds me, back in the day, as a joke we would use pink erasers to erase the face of a card then slip it to people's deck, as a joke to see their reactions when they pulled. It became a running joke because it got passed around and the challenge became sneaking it because we all knew. If you suspected someone of putting it in your deck when cutting, you would call them on it but if you were wrong, you were shamed. It all in good fun and bragging rights, of course they would just draw another. This was pre-sleeve days

    • @MTGDegree
      @MTGDegree  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      "White" will always become "clear" when printing on a transparency. If you lower the whites or highlights on the image you can make it print in those areas more, or increase the saturation of the image to make your printer lay down more ink. I hope this helps, good luck!

    • @calvindibartolo2686

      some printers have this setting, it's usually for glossy photo paper where the ink doesn't absorb easily into the paper, and you want the highest print quality which sprays the most ink. Ink dry time helps prevent warping from ink drying, and smudging from being fed through the printer

    Magic players are so funny with how they put cards into penny sleeves. It is not a top loader because you put the top of the card in first. It is because you load the card from the bottom into the top of the loader. No card collector in sports or other areas do it this way. But every magic player does. Why?

    • @shanebielko8556
      @shanebielko8556 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He didn't put it into a penny sleeve. He put it into a perfect fit sleeve. The reason he puts the card in so that the bottom edge of the card is on the open end of the sleeve is because the card will then go into an outer sleeve. The open bottom edge of the perfect fit sleeve will be at the closed bottom of the outer sleeve, which will essentially create a seal when combined with the outer sleeve in that way. Magic players do this because it protects the card from any liquid damage when playing. There are videos of people dunking double sleeved cards under water for multiple seconds and there is no water damage to the card at all. Sports cards aren't meant to be played with and shuffled so there isn't a need to do it this way.
