    I kinda feel for Hank. I had a sister who was a year older than me, and a grade above me in school. Of course, we always had the same teachers. I always got so tired of everyone constantly comparing me to her, and expecting me to be her. She and I are vastly different people, and I just wanted the opportunity to be myself, without having to live in my sister’s shadow. The struggle is real.

    I'd vote for the real tall guy in the plaid shirt. I know Hank (or someone just like him) - he's in his eighties now and still acts the same.

    NOt everyone wants to be capable, educated, or responsible. What would Mr Gordon do for THOSE kids who want to operate on the fringe of society?

    Dear Penthouse: I never thought your letters were real until this happened to me. I had handed in my theme two days late, and my teacher asked to see me after class. Now I know this story is going to sound unbelievable, but I tell you, it's true.... Sincerely, Name Withheld Upon Request.

    What a shame that Lloyd wasn’t as “cocksure” as Hank was!!! That’s freakin hilarious!!! I can’t believe they allowed such a word to be in these wholesome educational films back then. Of course, kids probably didn’t giggle and think it sounded dirty back then. How times have changed!!!!

    • @cacatr4495

      A rooster was called a Cock, and strutted around the barnyard, crowing and confident. "Cocksure" meant someone that was extremely confident, sure of himself. The word was not at all questionable. Minds weren't taught to be filthy.

      No; if there was any hint of such possibilities, the school leadership took disciplinary steps. If it grew worse, the student would be suspended or expelled, even sent to Juvenile Detention, which was, in effect, jail.

      +overcastic It was FUN a BIG surprise. "Class, today we are going to watch a MOVIE!!" The janitor would bring the projector into the classroom, turned off the lights and we got some much needed sleep. It was very restful - the projectors were LOUD and they had this wonderful kind of 'burning' smell. The only one I stayed awake for was when the boys were separated from the girls and shown a movie about VD - haven't dared to touch a woman since.

      These films were made for "social education" for high school students. Apparently it was believed to be appropriate to wait until the kids were in high school to start teaching them to think for themselves, and to use a heaping dose of "Common Sense" in the process. Obviously, they were too little, too late in a lot of cases....

      Losing is losing. Either way, the loser feels it, and it doesn't feel good. The film was working to present the moral of the story, which is reliability and due diligence, on a consistent level, and that that creates credibility, and good habits for success, whereas sloppy apathy, mediocrity and complacency only slides by.

    a shame, a girl made straight As and than after marriage she was locked in the house. a shame to waste your knowledge. repetitive tasks lead to alzheimers. a great career will keep you on your toes. every day will be a challenge.

    • @Eszra

      +Ursula Smith First I love your name, second lots of girls wanted to be housewives. My Grandmother is 91 years old and she doesn't have Alzheimer. After my Grandfather died my Grandmother got jobs at different points of time. She worked at the hospital switchboard before I was in elementary school, then she started working three different jobs. One closed the other two she left after a several months. She has a touch of dementia but nothing sever. She had a good life raising my late Uncle and my late Mother in post World War 2, but personally she did a horrible job. My Uncle had diabetes and she let him have everything he wasn't suppose to, candy, regular soda pop, and all that. And my mother well a lot of good she did there. My mother didn't know how to cook anything but casseroles, she never did anything like I do it, and she was terrified by money. So terrified she wouldn't listen when others told her what to do. A year before she died I forced her to get rid of an over $2,000 department store debt! I had to peel the money from her hands in front of the clerk! It took her two weeks to stop feeling so bad about not having that money anymore. Then just before her death I at last got her on a decent budget, one where we would have a great savings for the months to come, but she died and I've already spent the little we started saving on household items and groceries months ago.
      For me I didn't get good grades in school. I could have, but even when I asked for help they pretty much told me to do it myself, I had no encouragement except from my art teacher, I had my only A in his class, one of three top students. It wasn't long that I actually became physically ill and I left school. My mother at first not happy but when she saw the difference in me she knew it was better I wasn't there. I wasn't thrilled about leaving school like some people, no it made me mad.
      The point is even if I somehow had been able to go through with it and get a job I still have plans to be a normal housewife when I'm married. I want to be there make sure my kids eat well, do their homework, and make sure they learn responsibility just like in this video. Sure lots of kids do fine with working parents, but there are a lot more that just get by or have terrible relationships with their parents because they either don't know how to take a break from work when they can or just don't want to, so they don't have to spend time at home.
      I'd much rather be a housewife, not some slave to my husband, no an equal partner. If I'm sick or just exhausted from doing chores and house work I except him to help out because he has a reason to do it. Making each other happy not just ones self is a key factor. Besides as a Housewife I hold the bank card in my hands, there won't be any mid life crises spending in my house oh no. What more can you ask for then two hard working people doing what they love. Besides I can still work if I want to. I can open a food cart or sell homemade goods at a farmers market if I want to. Nothing wrong with being anything you want to be and don't let anyone say you can't.

      +Eszra oh thanks for your nice compliment. i have to agree with you. you are a great writer. i never looked at this that way. i always thought women were unhappy and would have opportunities. It depends on the individual woman i guess. you made a good point. many liberals think that those women took pillscand other drugs to keep going.

    • @ursulasmith6402
      @ursulasmith6402 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Eszra now with the internet and kids being alone at home, not a good combination. great, what your grandmother did. your mother made a few mistakes, we all do.

      +Eszra good luck to you maam and i hope you find a great guy.

    • @Eszra
      @Eszra 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ursula Smith Thank you for your compliment too! Sorry it was so long. There were many women that loved being a house wife, where other either gave in or were oppressed by their husbands, or even family member, usually their own or his or even both. But many enjoyed their home lives and wasn't that bad, some were. It all depends on the person. Lots of people think right off that if your a woman and you don't work your weak same for men who do it. But that's a negative stereotype that's perverted the real meaning of the House Wife or House Husband. One day I plan to write a book on being a modern house wife one day. It will take a long time before I get the chance. I'll even get my future husband to help out too.
