Possibly the only time in history when a teenage boy was left at home alone for a week and instead of turning the place into a party house, he cleans it from top to bottom, gets a job, and develops a renewed appreciation for his family.

I was in my first apartment when I was 15yrs old.. Good old Canadian child "care" system for ya! 😬 As a mother now, looking back, it's absolutely ridiculous that adults would leave a 15yr old alone like that.. No adults, no guidance.. 696$/month was my support.. Rent was 400$ plus util on a bachelor apt, didn't leave me with enough for bills AND food. So I dropped out of school to work. If you had even one parent that loves and cares for you, and does what they can for you, I consider you very lucky! Be sure to thank your parents for all that they do. They've trail blazed a path for you, that many of us have to cut through on our own!!

Since the oldest brother Barry started off being selfish and goofy, and his folks and two siblings live with him and get on his nerves (and he theirs I'm sure), I started thinking about how reminds me a bit of Barry Goldberg and his family at the beginning of each episode. By about 20 minutes in, both Barrys realize their family members are actually pretty cool to have around. This Barry didn't even have a TV set to watch when the empty house was so quiet.
