It really has went downhill and thats an understatement. I wish I could live back when people were polite respectful and classy. Unfortunately it will only get worse. Weve steadily declined decade by decade. God help us in the future
I have felt so annoyed and angry for so very, very long. I have been saying to friends that I no longer recognise this world or most of the people in it, and yet, I could not fine tune my feelings any more than this until I screened this film tonight. This is what life was like in my youth. This is how children were raised. This was what society expected of everyone. Yet, very few people these days exhibit these sorts of manners any more. I wish I could go back in time. It was a better world then.
I think we just need a little more awareness of our impact on others. We’re more self involved these days. It’s not difficult, a little effort goes a long way. We should watch this to be reminded of that.
I was raised to have manners like this. To this day I say please, thank you, hold doors, etc. I get plenty of strange looks and people accuse me of bring phony or sucking up to people. Sad. To this day I don't tell off color jokes or swear in front of women.
You seem like a very considerate gentleman. Men like you make me want to be more lady-like, especially in days like this where modest femininity isn’t embraced by many women.

Courtesy and respect are timeless. However, Generation X, are their parents. Where did they give up? Once we can replace , "Have a good one," with, "Your Welcome," "Good Morning," Good Afternoon," "Good Evening," or less "formal," Have a good day, " Have a nice night," When we eliminate ,"No problem" and "Whatever,"( which really is modern day) "F you," then we will return to civility, which really means kindness and respect.

They were still showing these in elementary schools in Texas back in the mid 1970’s!
Show these in your homes 🏠😊😊👍❤️
Indeed I am and enjoying it every bit.
It reminds of how I need to have better manners but this is good and the will of God for our lives.
You are so right the Bible says do unto others what you would like done to you after all we wouldn't treat ourselves badly peace to you Eileen
Gee these old videos sure are making my life turn into a black and white movie the more i watch them..
Once I was calling for a job and was hired over the phone, later I heard the boss say that I had such good phone mannerism he knew I would be a good hire!
I had the same experience!
If people would put their phones down and communicate, we might get back to this
If there was ever a solar flare and all cell phones were shut down, people wouldn't know what to do. So glued to them.
Maybe you should start now and stop making condescending comments about people online. Make an example for us all to follow!
I wish I lived around well spoken polite people like this who have class and grace. This society disgusts me.
+1
It really has went downhill and thats an understatement. I wish I could live back when people were polite respectful and classy. Unfortunately it will only get worse. Weve steadily declined decade by decade. God help us in the future
Ginger Perkins Good ol segregation.
Never fails ,someone always brings that up.What about gentrification ,I guess that is about the same....
Moviestar Memories Yeah, but it's not lol.
"And girls, let the man help. They enjoy it."
As a man, I certainly do enjoy it
And we like it too. I can’t see why some women get offended.
Good manners are good at anytime.
"Let the men help, they enjoy it"
I'm sure they do.
I was going to comment on that line myself! I thought it was rather funny. However, it happens to be true!
Courteous men of good character are awesome!
I do. Especially when it’s most appreciated.
@@cowteeth816 it is appreciated, good for you. You sound like a nice person, keep up the good work.
Yeah it's a real Joy with these feminists now
I think we just need a little more awareness of our impact on others. We’re more self involved these days. It’s not difficult, a little effort goes a long way. We should watch this to be reminded of that.
It IS true that your manners show. I enjoy watching these. They teach you how to conduct yourself in public
AND at home!!!
I was raised to have manners like this. To this day I say please, thank you, hold doors, etc. I get plenty of strange looks and people accuse me of bring phony or sucking up to people. Sad. To this day I don't tell off color jokes or swear in front of women.
We need more people like you in the world. Too many people like to use crude language and wonder why people like me give them dirty stares.
You seem like a very considerate gentleman. Men like you make me want to be more lady-like, especially in days like this where modest femininity isn’t embraced by many women.
@@tj921ableSounds like something an old head would say. Quite rude to make a face at someone who’s grown and can regulate themselves.
@@BjornIronside12 If they can regulate themselves, why don't they, instead of being rude in public? I am an old head and proud of it.
@@tj921able Because it’s stupid to let simple words have such power over you. If I’m in public and I hear someone cuss or something I don’t say anything or draw attention to myself. Because end of the day they grown idc. I didn’t raise them lol. So I’ll cap it with this. Quit worrying about what other people FUCKING do.
I love these videos!
Courtesy and respect are timeless.
One thing I was taught that was missed here, is that you should lead when descending steps, and your respected other should lead when ascending - the reason being if the respected other stumbles or falls, you can offer some assistance and break the fall. I still do this, especially for my frail mum.
I wish the world was like this.
I think I read in Emily Post's book way back, manners are about preventing problems or harm, and showing consideration instead of selfishness. In all practicality then, it is better for the man to walk down the stairs in front of the lady, in case either slip, the man can catch/shield/prevent her from falling, or if the man slips, he's not going to bowl her over and crush her. Going up the stairs, ladies first. Going down the stairs man first. In Germany tradition is for the man to enter a room first especially if it is an unfamiliar place or full of complete strangers, again to be her shield in case of danger inside.
Good manners is an unconscious habit of mine, irregardless of where
I am; and I think people appreciate
it too.
I unashamedly say I'm using these videos to get/brainwash my daughters to want to behave in a way suited for human dwellings.... 👌
And just saying, my 7yo put on a pair of pyjamas and actually brushed her hair the other night! 🏆
Awesome! 😁👏
We need more parents like you. Thank you
I’m showing these to the kids too. It’s working
Brainwash tf out of them with this, fr
Haha, as long as you show it to any sons you have too.
We were taught at home AND in elementary school. Even how to sit! Wish it was like this now
Now kids are told about genders
Oh how much we need more of these. That’s why I never put in broken bottom a boomer’s advice or constructive criticism regarding manners and or finances!
?????
I was raised like this, but now it offends people when I call them sir or ma'am. We really need to show this to today's kids!
We watched these in the mid 1960s, for health classes in what is called middle school now
makes me smile that they were 10 years old then..and we thought they were old fashioned and clunky☺️
@OLDTIMETV I appreciate all your short videos & all the great reminders... Thank you for all you do... Let's try our best like the movie said... ti take it from here at the end... ✌😇🙏
We could just show these videos to our children and grandchildren period they apply to everything that we do today
At 7:18 always say "Nice to meet you" in return.
Gosh, the 1950s were such a simpler time.
Not for people of color
For those countries, who didn’t have ruined families and lands after the WW2
And so white...
@Meade Vlog channel really? Clearly you’re not old enough to remember Jim Crow.
@sara jev He knows the truth, he just chooses to remain ignorant of the fact. But it's okay, like they do women, children and every kind of minority, they can just demand they were happier under their reign of terror. They know what's best for you and what you are feeling and thinking...and what you're thinking is to submit to them. Happiness awaits. 🙄
I would like to start using these pleasantries around everybody and laugh inside when they are dumbfounded as to “what a pleasant person she is”. In fact, I believe if I do it enough it will become natural and then I really will be a pleasant person to be around. How about that!
I think that's a nice thing to do!
Itsva good idea.
This film should be mandatory in every school in America
Ahhhhhh. Sweet, sweet homogeneous shared culture. Register out in the open, no problem
I see comments on these videos like “I can’t stop watching this I don’t know why lol!” And I have an answer, I know why. It’s because we wish people acted like this today!
We need these type of videos today for our youth and people, too much negativity in American society today
Gene/ Jean looks like my aunt, Norma. Aunt Norma is the most '50s woman' I've ever met. She doesn't know what vintage is or what the fashion of the fifties is (she's from a really rural part of Mexico) but she makes all her clothes and they all look like fifties outfits. She's soft voiced, gentle, and has great manners. It's perplexing.
I remember watching this film in about 3rd or 4th grade in the early 1970s. Those “kids” seemed like adults to me.
The way Jack was giving a romantic look to his teacher. Good manners.
Manners are very special and important in American households.
This video still serves a lot to this day! Thank you for sharing! ❤️
"Good manners have a lot to do with how much people like you." If only!!!
the actor playing jack also played woody in dating do's and don'ts!
I wish I watched this sooner. Thanks for the video
Great film in general. In particular, I wish I'd been as good looking as Jack.
I was in elementary school during the late fifties and early sixties and the teacher would show these kinds of films.
"Good morning is a good way to start the day"
"Hey, Siri, good morning."
People today have forgotten what good manners are. It is a me - me - me world... I hate it. :^ (
They are vile Narcissists not worthy of being around. They should at least be exiled away from honorable people.
Not everyone has forgotton manners..lots of manners still around...
@@cacatr4495 really! Please go away and place your head in a vice until you become a less vile pathetic piece of rubbish. Thank you so much....manners are important....obviously your the person you speak of.
@@pegasusgalaxy68 talking to someone the way you just did was bad manners.
pegasusgalaxy68 your manners are showing...
I need to watch this every day lol
Take me back to the 50's!
Look up “white privilege” sometime.
@@geococcyx7543 Idiot!
@@geococcyx7543 Stop being stupid.
@@geococcyx7543 Look up “why don’t you move to Japan and complain about their happy all-Asian society”. Seems like our biggest problem was letting y’all in at all! Y’all hate us, and you won’t be happy until we die, will you?
@@geococcyx7543 Yeah, well it was a land mass that white folks from Europe made something out of..... You and I enjoy the benefits of it today
I like that waitress in the Dutch hat, don't see that too often....a nice feature.
She was hot.
The only problem I personally faced is that, some/most people take your manners as granted/weaknesses and like to create intimidation in so many ways. Perhaps why keeping your circle limited is a must these days.
You don’t need to be weak or lame, in order to have manners and class. Notice how the boy is confidently talking to the two girls, who like him back- but he’s doing it and a respectful end courteous way.
I grew up knowing/learning many of these basic lessons (sometimes it rubbed off on the person I was dating). The one I married didn’t take much “polishing” but is now *always* the best escort for young and old alike.
It is so refreshing to see a person of any age display the basic courtesies.
OMG ,,what a quality content,,,really appreciable ,
Real, straight ,simple ❤
Thank You 😇
@ 5:07 Nice municipal bus line! Comparing it to Reno's RTC in my mind...all in all about the same type of passengers, but I think I prefer this bus; the kind you could still open a window and the bumpy seats look like fun.
Absolutely love the David Rose like music!
"Should Jack get off first?"
"Yes, and he can give the ladies a hand."
Lmao

This family is so nice , my family is like :
Sibling 1: MORNIN'
Sibling 2 : SHUT UP IM TRYNA SLEEP
Sibling 1 : MOM MAKE ME TOAST
Mum: make you're own damn TOAST
Sibling 2: I SAID I AM TRYNA SLEEP
Mum : Get yo lazy butt up it's Time for school
Dad: go clean the windows sibling 1
Sibling 1 : that's unfair I cleaned the windows LAST TIME why can sibling 2 do it
Um excuse me but I think your manners are showing.
Yesterday at work, we had civility training. These videos would have been good.
You had to have training on how to be civil? Incivility should be grounds for dismissal.
Civility or racial sensitivity?

What I hear: " So Meg's dead".
I was about to say, well those are good manners.

I can't unhear that now-
"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."🍻😂
If being like Jack is dull, I will take a world full of Jacks any day!
@@calvinjackson8110 😂😂😂
Anyone else here because they're totally insane and are dedicated to being polite to everyone? Just me? Okay - excellent.
This is an unrecognisable era. Compared to today, it might as well be filmed on another planet..
Is anyone watching these after watching Queen's Gambit ?
I love this
In the 80s As the world changed around us our home remained in the 50s and 60s manurisms, values everything till all of us married, present day I still can't conform to today's world only fashion. Just thought it was normal in the 80s . Mom made our clothes tended to the home and children. Taught us how to take care of our husband and cook , sew . She was the same way .
Over the years I've had so many say your not of this time well I am but not its hard to explain. My husband is 67 im 42 and if you met us and had dinner with us it would be like stepping back in time. I do all the chores , dinner set at a certain time . I never open the door in my pajamas, my husband takes care of the bills and i take care of the home. I greet my husband everyday he comes home too its normal for me .

I am not only seeing these manners, I still live them, as you do. And, remind people of their lack of manners, as diplomatically as I can.
Why isn't this tutorial part of our educational curriculum?
Manners are ageless, unless you have the millennial generation that feel entitled to " reinvent the wheel." However, Generation X, are their parents. Where did they give up? Once we can replace , "Have a good one," with, "Your Welcome," "Good Morning," Good Afternoon," "Good Evening," or less "formal," Have a good day,
" Have a nice night," When we eliminate ,"No problem" and
"Whatever,"( which really is modern day) "F you," then we will return to civility, which really means kindness and
respect.
@Linda: It's the models we have today. Look at the rock stars - how terribly they behave! Or our politicians, how they betray the people unpunishedly. Even religious people have perpetrated crimes against little children. One has to decide for himself whether he follows these patterns, no matter what the surrounding people do.
@ 7:55 Ah! The rating system! My girlfriends and I always did this:
+ 2 for being cute, naturally
-2 for being cute, artificially
+ 9 for clever, original opening line
-5 for predictable, uninteresting opening line
+10 for looking awesome in a suit
+9 for OWNING a suit
...and so on. Categories and scoring can be improvised as needed. (Great fun.)
Jack just earned a +10 for having manners in spite of possible peer pressure. S - W - O - O - N.
The rating system ... degrading and insulting.
@@marcopolo9146 maybe - but that's why we girls did it without telling the guys...(and if you missed it, I said it was all just "great fun")
