It's crazy hearing so many people talk positively about Texans games for once. I hope they don't lay an egg, but this season has been so fun to watch regardless.
Growing up in Columbus, Ohio, CJ Stroud was the reason I got into football, and I will be rooting for him at every moment. His backstory is incredible, his play is amazing, and it's a blast to watch him.
Happy for you guys down there. That's what is great about the NFL draft. A down and out team like the Texans are given an opportunity to choose before the better performing teams to try and pick a rookie player that will make a difference and turn the franchise around. If you hit like the Texans did with Stroud it can bring the team back to relevancy.
As a Jags fan i'm happy for y'all, it's been a long time of both of our franchises struggling but now maybe it'll be our two teams that constantly compete for control of the South instead of the Titans taking it as they pretty much always have
As a Texans and Ohio State fan I knew CJ Stroud was going to be great but if anyone ever told me he was going to be this good on the Texans I would have laughed at you. I am so happy and it had brought back a new joy of the Texans that I lost a while ago.
What's separating CJ from anyone else is his confidence in his decisions with his throws. He lets it rip, and spins that football. He's unique, able, in sync with his own talent, and hasn't let the stigma of being drafted by a bad team get to him. I look forward to watching him play more and more each week.
As a Ravens fan, even though he looked shaky in his first regular game, I saw how Stroud was trying to lead and will the team to win. Even though he lost in the end, he still put up some good numbers and it feels like he's been getting better slowly with each game. The Texans have something they haven't had in a long time; leadership. Who knows? Maybe the AFC South will finally get exciting again.
I wouldn't even say he looked shaky. He was facing a very good defense in his first real action and still looked composed despite his offensive line being horrible.
As a Charger fan Hes def on pace to having that. Its really between Herbert, Luck and Newton as his main comp. But man, to see Stroud do it for a team that was supposed to be a bottom feeder is awesome. Lets not forget to give credit to Demeco Ryans as well!

After it all it’s a really tough call between Herb and Stroud Very comparable stats and help from the team. Winning bias does favor stroud but I think CJ does edge out Herbert for number 1

As a panthers fan who was hoping we moved up to take stroud, I’m happy he got with a coach that’s able to let him do what he’s doing. Our coaching/game plan is horrendous and it would probably take him down with it.
Ohio State really has had some absolutely absurd WR rooms in the last 5 or so years. like arguably better than some NFL teams at certain points (on paper)
He's one of the few rookies who were surrounded by talent at WR in college and took the confidence to spread the ball around and not force the ball in the NFL.
After hearing that the GM and HC of the Panthers wanted to draft Stroud, but the owner forced them to take Young, this just makes it worse for Carolina with how good Stroud has been

Several thoughts on this video. I always look to Russell Wilson's rookie year as one of the best, partly because it came out of nowhere. Wilson, Luck and Griffin were insane that season. Plus Wilson tied Manning's rookie record for TD passes at 26 (and only 10 ints). Wilson came on halfway through the season and was just about unstoppable by the end of year. Don't forget his 4th quarter comeback against Atlanta in the playoffs. The Legion of Boom gave up a long pass to blow that. But Stroud just flat out is better (and I love me some Seattle Wilson football) Looking at that photo of Young, Stroud and Richardson together, one thing is obvious. Bryce Young needs dreads and he'll probably play as good as the other two (RIP Richardson's shoulder, of course) And finally...and this is tasteless, but is Stroud's mom single? I'd be proud to call CJ my son.

Great video as usual. I spent about 10 minutes stop and starting the video trying to find out who you slipped in there while talking about Watson. That was some fight club level editing good sir.
The 1st and 2nd overall draft comparisons will always happen, yeah... Though, the one where the Second QB drafted definitively outplayed the first is rarely mentioned: 1999, #1 overall draft pick Tim Couch vs. #2 overall draft pick... Donovan McNabb. I think it's fair to say McNabb turned out more than a little bit better, but so much other stuff went down with that draft class that I'm not sure anyone outside Cleveland ever really remembers Couch. This was, after all, the draft where Ditka married Ricky Williams, which really overshadows most other draft stories, and the big QB competition that came out of it was McNabb vs. Daunte Culpepper; which was going Dante's way in the early seasons, right up until he wasn't throwing to Randy Moss anymore. Also: didn't know that stuff about Stroud's backstory. Damn, that's a rough lot, and good to see someone coming out the other side seemingly a strong and good-souled human. You just made me a Stroud fan, thanks for informing me I should be one.
As a Georgia Bulldogs fan, Stroud was the only reason Ohio State was even in that game. He played amazing, and I'm glad he's getting the respect he deserves in the NFL.
The only reason why they were in that game ? Terrible defense in the back end and that horrific field goal attempt is the only reason why Georgia won that game. CJ showed out in that game
I became a fan of Stroud in the Rose Bowl game against Utah. His 25 yard TD pass to Marvin Harrison Jr was a thing of beauty. Hit him in stride, back shoulder. After that i was wondering who in the NFL could make that throw and i could only come up with Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert and Rodgers. I knew he was ready after that. Fast forward to the Bucs game, my first ever NFL game and it was a good one. The pass he threw to Tank Dell before the game winner was eerily similar to that pass to Harrison in that Rose Bowl, in only a place where his receiver could get it. It is scary to think about Stroud's ceiling. Texans can be contenders for years as long as Stroud is behind center.
Stroud has been awesome so far, and I think 26 or so teams would instantly be better with him over who they have. Which is a crazy thought about a 22 year old QB.

I always love how mahomes gets overlooked for the rookie year because he sat his first year. But since his first game was against Denver.... in seriousness, his first year was by far the greatest of any qb, kinda like his first game.

The 1st and 2nd overall draft comparisons will always happen, yeah... Though, the one where the Second QB drafted definitively outplayed the first is rarely mentioned: 1999, #1 overall draft pick Tim Couch vs. #2 overall draft pick... Donovan McNabb. I think it's fair to say McNabb turned out more than a little bit better, but so much other stuff went down with that draft class that I'm not sure anyone outside Cleveland ever really remembers Couch. This was, after all, the draft where Ditka married Ricky Williams, which really overshadows most other draft stories, and the big QB competition that came out of it was McNabb vs. Daunte Culpepper; which was going Dante's way in the early seasons, right up until he wasn't throwing to Randy Moss anymore.
Also: didn't know that stuff about Stroud's backstory. Damn, that's a rough lot, and good to see someone coming out the other side seemingly a strong and good-souled human. You just made me a Stroud fan, thanks for informing me I should be one.

As a Georgia Bulldogs fan, Stroud was the only reason Ohio State was even in that game. He played amazing, and I'm glad he's getting the respect he deserves in the NFL.
The only reason why they were in that game ? Terrible defense in the back end and that horrific field goal attempt is the only reason why Georgia won that game.

I became a fan of Stroud in the Rose Bowl game against Utah. His 25 yard TD pass to Marvin Harrison Jr was a thing of beauty. Hit him in stride, back shoulder. After that i was wondering who in the NFL could make that throw and i could only come up with Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert and Rodgers. I knew he was ready after that.
Fast forward to the Bucs game, my first ever NFL game and it was a good one. The pass he threw to Tank Dell before the game winner was eerily similar to that pass to Harrison in that Rose Bowl, in only a place where his receiver could get it. It is scary to think about Stroud's ceiling. Texans can be contenders for years as long as Stroud is behind center.
I fucking hate Ohio State, but I love a lot of their alumni in the NFL. Watching this dude ball is just awesome.
