What is Puppy Mush? When my puppies first began eating puppy food, I had to soften it for them. It's called Puppy Mush because of its consistency and appearance. The puppies can't yet handle solid food, so it must be incredibly soft and mushy to prevent choking.
I began feeding Puppy Mush around 4 weeks old. Eventually, the mother will stop feeding the puppies as much milk as she begins to wean them.
Some mothers will never initiate the weaning process, though. In this case, I would still introduce the Puppy Mush at week 4.
Take the time to gradually change my puppy's diet, starting with only 10% Puppy Mush and 90% mother's milk. Slowly shift this ratio until they are eating 100% solid food by the age of 8 weeks.
The amount of Puppy Mush and its consistency should be gradually modified in line with this goal and timeline. Gradually reduce the amount of liquid used to make the Puppy Mush until its consistency is that of wet food, and simultaneously increase the amount of Puppy Mush they eat as the mother weans them. The mother's milk will dry up at 12ish weeks, so the switch needs to be made entirely before then.
Puppies are growing quickly, but have tiny stomachs. Like human babies, they need to eat a little bit often. Even if it doesn't seem like they're consuming much of the Puppy Mush, they are consuming a decent number of calories.
Preferably, puppies should eat the Puppy Mush two to four times a day.
Throughout the puppy's development, you will want to increase the amount of food per meal but lower the overall meals. They should be eating only two meals a day when the puppy is ready for a new home, though smaller breeds may still need three meals a day.

I pour my kibble into a container, pour hot water directly from tea kettle onto kibble, add baby cereal and a spoonful of pumpkin purée cover and let sit for 10 min.

The puppy mush is puppy food ground up finely so it's filled with lots of protein, minerals, and vitamins which they need.
