    For those of you who are struggling with the decal appearing under the models. Go to parent model and manually move the decal around vertically with the grid snap value turned off so you can smoothly move it up and down until it appears under your units.

      can also try scaling it bigger on Y axis

    the third person animation set doesn't show up for me in the Anim Class.

    2:50 - You may find you don't have access to "Materials" as a result of following the previous steps. If this happens, Compile + Save and you should see it. UE doesn't populate secondary items (such as Material Elements for a Mesh) until you've confirmed that you're adding the parent item... in this case, a Skeletal Mesh Asset.
    Will also help you throughout the tutorial. Good luck out there RTS fans!

    I need Help. At 10:48 min. I need to change to ThirdPerson_AnimBP, but in my version UE 5.1 there is no more. What shloud I do?

      Try to resize the decal
      I think its a Unreal Bug

    when it came time for the decal to show up by selecting it, it wasnt, I found out it was due to the decal box only merely grazing with the ground and not intersecting with the ground

    Why did you scale down the parent unit blueprint? Is it for performance or preferred style?

    everything seems working but the position the rectangle seems to appear maybe -10 y and 20 x in the axis of the position I'm clicking it doesn't seems that i messed on the values that i inputted because the mouse mouse position are Get by blueprints. I messed around the Pawns X Y values but i do not think it can affect the position of the mouse on the hud

      I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but that's just a hotkey for placing a Vector3 node. You can also create one the normal way by right clicking on a blank part of your material graph, then Constants -> Constant3Vector.

    Extremely useful tutorial! Is there a way to set the decal's radius to a certain number of in-game units? In my project I want a similar Circle decal at the base of a character to display/represent their attack range, but am not sure how I could use a blueprint to scale the decal size according to the character's variable

    Seem to be be getting the decal with the correct radius if i drag it in, but if I apply it to the meshs in the selection section, it only shows up as a square instead of the circle radius the draged one has? Anyone have any ideas?

      Just put in on a plane. But also set the material blend mode to additive. Only way I got it visible. Not the perfect solution tho.

      for some reason the decal is turned 90°, and you have to turn it back to the left so the Z axis move controller is facing behind the character, probably a bug or something dunno,

      @@guerinsamuel3734 Its turned by 90 degrees on my end. Use the rotation and see if it becomes a circle by rotating.

      @@guerinsamuel3734 I had this same issue with 4.26 and 4.27.2. What I did was make a 64x64 texture of that bright green color, with an alpha channel. Then, instead of making a Constant 3-Vector by holding down the 3 key and left clicking, you need to right-click and search for "Texture Sample". Then, with the Texture Sample selected, select the new 64x64 green texture to assign to it (my panel for selecting it is on the left-hand side of the screen). Once done, plug the "RGB" (top) pin of the Texture Sample into the "multiply" node's A pin. Next, make another "multiply" node and plug the Texture Sample's A (alpha) pin into the new "multiply" node's A pin. The line from the "Subtract" node (coming from the two "Radial Gradient Exponential" nodes) will go into the B pins of both "multiply" nodes. Lastly, the "multiply" node that has the RGB input will connect to the "Emissive Color" pin of the Material's result node and the "multiply" node that has the Alpha input will connect to the "Opacity" pin of the Material's result node. Sorry for the long-winded reply, I hope it makes sense. AFAIK, there's no way to upload a screenshot of what I'm describing.

    Hey thanks for the tutorial !
    You use character class for units, but from our test, you can't have more than 50-70 characters on the map before it's unplayable. Which is nothing for a RTS. I assume the solution is to setup a custom pawn class ?

      Hi thank you for watching. You're right! Performance could certainly be gained by using a lighterweight class for the units.

      About this, I tried doing the tutorial exactly as is minus creating my unit as a pawn. However my marquee box does not select them, I tried under "Get Actors in Selection Rectangle" filter to switch to pawn instead of actor and that did not allow me to select them either. I wonder if because it is a pawn as opposed to the video's character actor it does not access the player controller code to allow me to select?

      this is a tutorial for unreal version 4 or beta 5, 5.0x does not have this bp anim and I do not have a female mannequin: P I ran the project in 4.2 and converted to 5, another way such a noob I do not know

      Choose Anim Class = ABP_Manny. However, make sure to select Skeletal Mesh = SKM_Manny_Simple.

    (PUBLIC WARNING) ive had someone targeting my unreal engine I dont know if this has affected other people or is it me its targeted at what they are doing is stopping files loading with the names used in this tutorial and other basic names ie UnitStyle1 or unit 1 a quick change of name of the file and it loaded up again Ive reinstalled windows and unreal and it still happens iam wondering if its lan or wlan or internet based or are they logging into my account with stolen details any ideas?

    Does not work for me.
    Material works when dropped on the map.
    Yet the parent stands in de corner looking at me with a aditude and when i look at it it gives me the middle finger.
