Since you can only get this in the new game plus I figure the original ending is sort of like a time loop. Basically isaac escaped Nicole jump scares him And he ends up relapsing he's still on board the ship but She's forcing him to relive the memories over and over again in new game plus. By collecting those marker pieces, This has heard gaining more more influence into isaac's mind. So basically by 100% in the game. You end up realizing with ascending that you helped her successfully brainwash isaac. Oops 😬 😂 Because if you beat the game again without getting those marker pieces , then you get the same ending. Essentially her or specifically the marker , forcing isaac back into the simulation until he's in the right mindset it needs him to be. What i'm saying is new game plus isaac is pretty much A drooling mess In the pilot seat As he's being indoctrinated. You know how brainwashing techniques work essentially the one trying to bring wash. You attempts to trick your mind into believing that the right thing is anything. You don't get shocked for, like the mouse with the cheese! Once he collected the marker pieces And adding into the extra apart where it's believed Isaac Knew nicole was dead Before even reaching the ishimora and was trying to believe she wasn't It was all too easy for the marker to convince him that he's a well good boy. If you're Getting what I mean by that. I want to get all of them. The brain washing is successful , which is why his lines change in the hivemind final fight! It's the thoery i'm keeping with because I actually like that theory if it's true. And make sense while keeping true to the laws and remember when the rescue team found him. Was in the state you just see Him In this ending.
Came here to comment that. I guess it's fine to have this ending being the 100% completion of the game after NG+ but as soon as I finished my first run I came to this video. This end is perfect. In the original, maybe the team hasn't yet decide how to tackle DS2 so we can only infer what happened. But by adding this ending. Every loose tie is knotted. This remake should've sold at least as much as REmake4 did. This is a remake no one asked for and did everything right. I can't wait for 2 and most importantly: 3. DS1 and 2 remakes can be kept largely the same. But the 3 one really does need to be rewritten and redone. One of the greatest series ever. It was inspired by Resi but in so many ways is so much more.
When you unlock the secret ending, some of the dialogue in the final mission changes. When the final fight starts, Issac yells, “It showed me what to do. You can’t stop me!” Love the way he says it. Makes me think of Dead Space 2.
What is even more disturbing about this is, that Nichole's RIG is offline. Practically another obvious "she aint real" moment but it goes unnoticed. Truely Motive mastered the essence of the marker influence
How does it go unnoticed? Marker has always been able to do. Stross with his wife and kid in DS2, John’s wife in DS3, etc. We already know Nicole is dead lmao.
And there are moments where the soldier is missing his leg, dies and his RIG stays on or the miner missing his leg and arm having full health on the RIG. Some small details are surely not that good sadly.
Back when the original game came out they had no idea whether or not they were making a sequel so it ended with a pretty effective jumpscare at the time. However, this time around they seem to be confident and know what they're doing. This ending plays directly into the events of Dead Space 2! Isaac drifts through space talking to himself in the ship (due to dementia), EarthGov will pick him up and do everything that they do to him as explained during the events of Dead Space 2, Isaac will build the marker for "Nicole" (EarthGov) and the events of Dead Space 2 should happen pretty much the same! I hope they get Idris Elba to play Hans Tiedemann! Don't ask... I just think he'd really fit the role. Edit: Hey guys! So as it turns out, this is a secret ending that is only accessible if you collect all of the marker fragments. Either way this ending still plays very well into the beginning of Dead Space 2! I feel that they wanted this to be the new ending of Dead Space 1, but didn't know how fans would react to it so therefore making it a "secret ending". Which is nice because we get the best of both worlds! Very thoughtful of EA in my opinion.
I have to disagree about the "fits into DS2" part this ending is great, but Issac is clearly mad and the marker had controlled him, if this connects to DS2, Issac will be Stross - level crazy and try to poke everyone's eye out and I don't think he can overcome this and keep on fighting the marker or even Nicole(because noone ever did)
This time around they're "confident and know what they're doing"? Well no shit, they already know that there's a sequel so they can change up the ending to better fit with the sequel.
I find this ending even more disturbing than the jumpscare original. But a little excited that it could be a message that a remake of Dead Space 2 could be in the works.
The horrifying moment when you realise that the Marker didn't just take hold of Isaac's mind and trick him into doing what it wanted - it also did that to YOU.
Okay as an enthusiast of the lore that is some freaky shit at the ending. Might give a little more chills than the standard one. Interested in how they can build up upon it because there is so much you can build up on this ending alone. Changes the the context of the whole thing for the next game.
Isn't this ending perfectly in line with what happens in Dead Space 2? IIRC Issac goes through a period of psychosis and helps construct the new one just like this ending implies. Or did I miss something?
To me as a DS lore enthusiast myself this ending gives me chills colder than the vacuum of space. I know markers can bend the will of sentient beings and even Isaac can succumb to it's influence. Imagine them, world eating Brethren Moons, and Isaac Clarke himself as their Messiah, their Harbinger, their Champion. This is the scariest shit I've ever seen.
@@aynfedo27 I was saying in another videos this could be setting up the dead space 2 remake with Isaac as the antagonist and the plot threads from extraction being re introduced and incorporated into the story instead of just being dropped in 3.
Isaac, drifting through space, drawing marker blueprints on the inside of his ship, chatting with an intrusive alien mind he thinks is his wife. Great stuff, perfect ending.
Seeing him how happy he is due to the Marker's influence, is terrifying. It shows that it is making him insane. The way he smiles and talking to himself, sort of like Jack Nicholson's performance in Stanley Kubrick's horror classic, The Shining and his portrayal of the Joker in Tim Burton's Batman. I hope Sonita Henry returns as Ellie Langford in the Dead Space 2 remake, if they announce to work on the sequel. They need a background on her story, big time like a single-player expansion DLC. And maybe in the DS2 remake, an extended director's cut of the game. But I prefer this ending instead of the original 2008 one. That's my take
Just finished my first run on hard difficulty. Took me 20 hours according to my save. Im exhausted. Had to jump on here to see that alternative ending. I hope they will remake dead space 2. It's my favourite out the trilogy.
It doesn't tho, cuz his insanity in DS2 was more about his PTSD then the marker. They needed to brainwash him to get the info on the marker out of him, why would they need to do it if he wanted to build the marker anyway?
Just got through beating this game and man that was a great team that created this remake. The sound design team deserve a raise. There's something about when devs go the extra mile beyond just graphics. They nailed sound effects, 3D audio, atmosphere, visual fidelity, PS5 controller just everything. Can't wait for the next one.
If they changed it to where she started strangling Issac from behind to psych him out making him think she was friendly as a nod to the original’s jump scare, that would have been cool
No? The point of this ending is to show that he's the Marker's chosen Messiah, which leads to him building it in 2. Why would it be hostile to him here? It's giving him what he wants.
This ending gives me hope not only for a full franchise reboot, but also that the new developers are going to resurrect the original storyline for Dead Space 3 that was cut. For those who don’t know, (OLD SPOILERS BEWARE) DS3’s original storyline was radically different from what the game ended up being. The story was originally intended to be a continuation of Isaac’s dementia and psychological journey (meaning his dementia isn’t “cured” in DS2), with him becoming a full blown unreliable narrator and puppet of the Brethren Moons’s control.
I don't really know what's worse, honestly. The idea of regressing her character and basically erasing all the development from Dead Space 1 and 2 just to repeat the same arc feels very wasteful.
@@wetodd_actual id say just scrap the OG 3 all together and make a completely new game kinda like a reboot but with 1 and 2 still happening just a diff outcome when it comes to 3
@@thefacts4440 Dead Space 3 is good and I stand by that! The only thing really "bad" about it in my opinion is the MTAs. Such as having the option to buy recourses if it goes and gets tough, having to buy the "true" ending of the game and a fair bit of the story only being accessible in CO-OP... I'd like for them to remake Dead Space 3, but without the checklist that they needed to fulfil back in the day and instead a full adaptation of their original idea!
It’s more of an alternate version of the ending that will lead up to DS 2, both makes sense and the original will still exist because Isaac has gone insane now
Wait this is an alternate ending meaning the regular one still exists? Because the jumpscare has to be the best ever to me, be sad if that was completely scrapped.
I like this ending more. It's grim and disturbing, just like game itself. Isaac loses his mind anyway... so the fact that he sees his dead love works much better with alternative ending.
This makes since because of the marker Issac going nuts talking to Nicole and wanting to build the marker in ds2 but doesn't remember doing it. I really hope they do dead space 2 and 3 remake please who else is with me.
This fits into DS2 perfectly if they remade DS2 they could add in a flash back or prequel event like dead space 3 did and show issac building the marker in DS2 remake
I like to think that both endings are cannon, with the original ending being that his guilt and trauma which he kept at the back of mind, as he focused on surviving eventualy overwhelmed him once he escaped. And the secret ending is what follows after all of that, with him living in a warped perception of reality as the marker took over him during his moment of vulneability.

@@Zodiac3107 Dude EarthGov just used code from Isaac and Nolan heads that's how marker in Dead Space 2 was built not by Isaac but by codes from his and Nolan heads that Moons implanted in their heads.
I like to think that both endings are real - the first one happens just after the escape from Aegis VII. Then we have a game plus playthrough - it happens inside Isaac's deranged mind. He is stuck on that escape shuttle and he relives the Ishimura nightmare over and over again while drawing Marker symbols and talking to "Nicole". At some point of this madness the secret ending happens and then later on, Isaac falls into coma, gets captured by Earth Gov and DS2 happens.
It cant happen tho. Why would EarthGov need to brainwash him so thoroughly in DS2 if he was willing to build the marker himself? If he had all the knowledge. This ending seems more like just a nod to DS2 instead of an actual ''new canon ending''.
That awesome looking suit he wears. I can't shake that feeling, that I am seeing RoboCop. Superb Remake. Wish there could be more games like this. And even more with brand new IP.
The thing about this ending is that it doesn't really break any cannon leading into Dead Space 2. Heck it could just as easily been an end credits scene.
[SPOILERS] Don't know if anyone notice but when Issac says: "Soon, I promise. Gotta build a little something first". Right after that line above his right shoulder (the players view) you immediately see a marker carved in that far seat. That "little something" is a reference to the MASSIVE Marker shown in Dead Space 2 as in that scene he comments "Oh my god, I built that?" Great for shadowing.
In the context of the story, this makes sense because Issac was under the markers influence enough to build the marker that was in the second game - his brain gave the blueprints to that second game's marker, so them putting in this secret ending, i wont be surprised if this is the canon ending, if there'll ever be a sequel remake
To be honest this is how I pictured Isaac was when they found him and brought him to the Sprawl in Dead Space 2. In which they legitimately helped him get over/past the marker's influence, if only to gain the information to make one themselves
I really want to know how they are going to handle Ellie in the second game and if we will see a glimpse of 'them' in the last battle of that game, because it would connect really well with the 3rd game. Second game is arguably the best of the saga, I hope they do it well.
I just beat NG+ with all 12 fragments but had no idea you go to Mathias' shrine in his quarters to interact with table. What the hell. Now I got to do this again. Lucky for you Dead Space your my favorite franchise ever so you get a pass with this one.
Both endings make sanse, this secret ending just sets an eerie tone to it. But in the first game Isaac too loses his mind. So both of them are perfect for it. I really hope they fix dead space 3.
just spent the whole day doing a NG+ run for this ending, even making sure that I had the 12 fragments before loading up the marker, only to forget about going to the ritual circle just before the hive mind ripperoni
This looks like it fits well enough in the canon that you could boot up DS2 right away. Playing through this reminds me how incredible DS1 was back in the day. I'm surprised how to remake manages to capture that feeling despite being built from the ground up. I'm certain they had the original source files kept well. Great to see this franchise is still alive. Even when the callisto protocol failed, it's still a part of the good new decade for AAA survival horror.
Heres the most horrific theory i could think of: maybe the alternative ending isn't actually an alternate ending, maybe after the end of the original ending, Issac was forced to relive the memories of his adventures on the Ishimura via New Game Plus, where he then collects the marker fragments, something that wasnt possible in the original run, and when all were found, Issac suddenly changes his dialouge at the end when facing the Hive Mind, whereas he originally mimics Cross' quote of saying this is all he has left, he suddenly says that the creature cannot stop him, that the marker shown him everything. And cut forth to the ending where instead of mourning Nicole, Issac is "happy" and with all the symbols of the marker scrawled on the shuttle and him talking to "Nicole" about building her something nice, which having played DS2, was the Black Marker that started the outbreak on Titan Station. It sells that the Marker has finally broken Issac and that his nightmare was only getting started
Does anyone else notice Nicole's health indicator is entirely dark in the final shot? Even Isaac's hallucination shows she is dead. Even in his madness, a part of his mind still acknowledges the truth.
My man Isaac's trippin' alien balls. This explains much better the beginning of Dead Space 2 where he was held in a mental institution, not for his benefit but to extract the secrets of the marker in his head.
Guess this ties in better with what happens in the sequel. Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Isaac builds another marker and, by the beginning of the second game, starts out in a mental healthcare facility on the Sprawl.
I like to think that both endings are actually canon. The first ending shows that Isaac wasnt really free from the maker's influence. Everything that happens in the new game plus a consequence of this, he's reliving all the events from the game in his mind while also explaining why he wants to collect the marker pieces in the game. The secret ending is basically an epilogue, one that shows the marker has taken over his mind and also foreshadowing the events of the second game
I hope they use this ending for Dead Space 2 that the Marker influenced Isaac to the point that he willingly build a Marker instead of him being used from the Government to build one.
I can’t stop thinking about issacs face when he’s talking to “Nicole” . His dumb smirk reminds me of the episode of Futurama with the slurm factory , the dumb smile fry makes when he’s drinking the slurm that he knew was bad and evil but still smiled when he tried it Anyone ?

@@Revan-eb1wb How do you implement his guilt? His guilt stems from the first game. His guilt tormented him, he didn’t embrace the insanity.
This probably isn’t the canon ending.

Look at Isaac eyes, his mouth is smiling but those eyes are stuck in a 1000 yards stare state
Jesus Christ it's like he's aware of what he's doing but he can't control his body that makes it even more terrifying
He has the same diluted eyes he has when he gets into the machine that stabs his eye
I actually like this more than the jumpscare, that way his hallucinations about Nicole and the marker in Dead Space 2 feel more connected.
Oops 😬 😂
Because if you beat the game again without getting those marker pieces , then you get the same ending.
@@paulman34340 Wait I love this ending honestly, and it kinda does make sense
When you unlock the secret ending, some of the dialogue in the final mission changes.
When the final fight starts, Issac yells, “It showed me what to do. You can’t stop me!”
Love the way he says it. Makes me think of Dead Space 2.
"Fuck you, and fuck your marker!"
I have to disagree about the "fits into DS2" part
this ending is great, but Issac is clearly mad and the marker had controlled him, if this connects to DS2, Issac will be Stross - level crazy and try to poke everyone's eye out and I don't think he can overcome this and keep on fighting the marker or even Nicole(because noone ever did)
@@roboorc1234 Yeah he is crazy... There is a reason why you begin Dead Space 2 in a straitjacket...
Woooow😮
This time around they're "confident and know what they're doing"? Well no shit, they already know that there's a sequel so they can change up the ending to better fit with the sequel.
@@snakebebop Ahh... exactly my point? Okie dokie 👌

I miss the jump scare but I like the dead space 2 foreshadowing
Oh no you’ll still get the jump scare when you first play through this is the new game plus ending if you have all the marker fragments

I just checked this is the new game plus ending if you have all of the marker fragments
@@aynfedo27 I was saying in another videos this could be setting up the dead space 2 remake with Isaac as the antagonist and the plot threads from extraction being re introduced and incorporated into the story instead of just being dropped in 3.
@@BRZRKBAT7322 good we might see Lexine Murdoch as main protagonist. She is an absolute carrier and I missed her a lot in the main events of DS1 DS2
It's my favourite out the trilogy.
>tfw the most unsettling ending in the franchise involves Isaac being happy.
This ending is literally setting the stage for Dead Space 2 by the time Isaac was rescued he had literally gone insane
It doesn't tho, cuz his insanity in DS2 was more about his PTSD then the marker. They needed to brainwash him to get the info on the marker out of him, why would they need to do it if he wanted to build the marker anyway?
@@felipecouto1102PTSD played a part but Isaac was definitely insane in 2 and his spiral into depression in 3 was the aftershock of that

This fits perfectly with dead space 2
If they changed it to where she started strangling Issac from behind to psych him out making him think she was friendly as a nod to the original’s jump scare, that would have been cool
I think that is still in it. To get this one you have to b eat the game then go collect 12 marker fragments in new game plus.
If the remake of Dead Space 1 is successful. Then they should plan on making the other two. Dead Space 2 and 3 remake.
Not 3. Co-op is shit piece
And make part 3 better than the original
@@wetodd_actual id say just scrap the OG 3 all together and make a completely new game kinda like a reboot but with 1 and 2 still happening just a diff outcome when it comes to 3
Dead Space 2 is perfect as is.. it doesn’t need a remake

The marker scribbles around the whole ship makes this ending all the more unsettling. Our boy isaac is gone
If John Carpenter really does make this into a movie, I think this really must be the ending for it.
This fits into DS2 perfectly if they remade DS2 they could add in a flash back or prequel event like dead space 3 did and show issac building the marker in DS2 remake
His smile and happy demeanor being so genuine is really damn unsettling and awesome at the same time.
I like to believe that the secret ending is the aftermath of the first ending
The old ending was scary, but this new one is in another level!

I like the jumpscare ending. But this is a good kiss for the old fans who know what will happened.
This is exactly what I thought as well. Great analysis tbh
Yeah, It's a teaser for Dead Space 2. The marking on the walls.
The thing about this ending is that it doesn't really break any cannon leading into Dead Space 2. Heck it could just as easily been an end credits scene.
It actually further supports the lore.
Ah of course the second black marker.. if DS3 is ever remade tho.. that'll take heaps of work.
You know I’m really excited for the sequel if they decide to make it
Came here because of Selen who just beat this game on hard. Thank you for this ending!
Dead Space 2 remake is going to be epic!!!! I just wonder if DS3 will get a remake?
[SPOILERS]
Don't know if anyone notice but when Issac says: "Soon, I promise.
Makes more sense for how dead space 2 happens
To be honest, it looks cool!
I wish Jonh Carpenter would make this a movie. Reminds me of Alien and The Thing

DEAD SPACE 2 REMAKE HERE WE COME
This looks like it fits well enough in the canon that you could boot up DS2 right away.

Dear God, *please* let there be a Dead Space 2 remake, and may it please be awesome. Amen.
The Motive team might have taken a page out of Midsommar's ending
And they did it beautifully
They did such a great job with the remake
He's gonna build her The Marker
Does anyone else notice Nicole's health indicator is entirely dark in the final shot? Even Isaac's hallucination shows she is dead. Even in his madness, a part of his mind still acknowledges the truth.
ididnt watch the ending, so he found Nicole's mom?

I like to think that both endings are actually canon.
The first ending shows that Isaac wasnt really free from the maker's influence.
Everything that happens in the new game plus a consequence of this, he's reliving all the events from the game in his mind while also explaining why he wants to collect the marker pieces in the game.
The secret ending is basically an epilogue, one that shows the marker has taken over his mind and also foreshadowing the events of the second game
It'd be neat if someone recorded this with the Infected Suit.
For as iconic as the original ending is, this one is much superior in every other aspect. Specially lorewise.
I hope they use this ending for Dead Space 2 that the Marker influenced Isaac to the point that he willingly build a Marker instead of him being used from the Government to build one.
I can’t stop thinking about issacs face when he’s talking to “Nicole” . His dumb smirk reminds me of the episode of Futurama with the slurm factory , the dumb smile fry makes when he’s drinking the slurm that he knew was bad and evil but still smiled when he tried it
