Tam Olyn Finest, yes. And your statement also reminded me of what a misnomer “mezzo sprano” really is. During Handel’s time, Didonato would’ve been called a soprano. Even with Mozart: he marked “Soprano” for Cherubino. I suppose there certainly was a need to distinguish between sopranos that sang the Q of N and “sopranos” that sang Cherubino. LOL
So fascinating, if I remember correctly, they actually shared one role in one season: Adalgisa, at the Met. I actually prefer higher voiced Adalgisas, such as DiDonato or even Sumi Jo, even though they are rather rare, admittedly. Because Pollione fell for a young virgin, not a matron like Marylin Horne or a grand dame like Jamie Barton.
Barton and DiDonato together. WHAT A TREAT!
WOW,WOW,WOW! Great combination of voices
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Joyce and Jamie. Is there not a more perfect pairing? My favourite ladies doing what they do best. I must have died and gone to heaven!
Handel, DiDonato, and Barton. PURE BLISS.
Barton and DiDonato are the two finest mezzos around.

canto degno della scuola media ...
Giulio.
Beautiful but what happened to Joyce's hair? It looks like a dead cat fell on her head.
