As great as this is, and as much as I love her, nothing prepared me for how truly stunning she was in Houston in the full opera. She OWNED the house and she knew it. I pray La Favorite is revived for this truly extraordinary artist. She is one of the greats.

Well ,Jamie won the competition in Cardiff-of course.It seemed the whole auditorium was saluting her when they stood and sang the Welsh National Anthem .It was a very well deserved win.Congratulations from Anglesey,my dear.

One of my favorite composers is Donizetti and I have this opera with Ms. Fiorenza Cossotto---It is wonderful---

I totally agree that Ms. Barton is on the road to greater things---"La Favorita" by Donizzeti is superb for her voice---the voice is flawless and reminds me of Ms. Agnes Baltsa and Marilyn Horne intertwined---there is unity of the dark and light side of the "timbre" of the voice---I am in total admiration for her impressive abilities I look forward to seeing what this superb singer has in store for us---

Faultless interpretation, making donizetti engaging isn’t always easy! 🤣. Jamie Barton is the kind of universal vocal example to all young singers to up their game 🔥
It's not just that she was propperly trained. There are plenty of properly trained singers that couldn't act their way out of a paper bag. It's been less of a problem since Callas woke up the opera community to the fact that it's theatre but there are still singers (especially at recital venues) who just stand there and sing without bothering.
I wish Jamie all the best in the Cardiff competition! She deserves to win. Unfortunately, four of the nine judges are not singers. Out of those four, three aren't even musicians...AT ALL! Sadly, this has been the rule rather than the exception in vocal competitions for as long as I can remember. Why, I don't know, but it needs to change. Does this happen w/instrumentalists too?
