    The first thing I've noticed is that the existing pipe is not for water use, it's for electrical conduit pipe and very soft. But the technique is good anyway.

    You wonder why stores don't sell these fittings that he hand made. My house in Florida had these garden hose spigot breaks. They use this cheap plastic piping in all the houses, even in the ground to the water supply. I had a riding lawnmower break my water supply line that was plastic any only about 8 inches underground. The local plumber said these line breaks and garden hose breaks happened all the time. If you use copper you won't have these problems. Where I am in Canada the copper supply line is buried 8 feet underground. I found out why they don't use copper in the ground in Florida, because the copper corrodes in the limestone ground they have. But the houses could still be made with copper instead of this cheap plastic crap. I don't know how many people have told me these plastic lines burst, and some when people on vacation and their house is destroyed inside. I usually shut off my water supply when I go on vacation just in case a toilet bursts open or starts to run.

    • @tipsunknow
      @tipsunknow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for sharing your experiences and concerns. It's unfortunate that the plastic piping used in some houses can lead to frequent breaks and water supply issues. Using copper pipes for water supply lines can indeed be a more durable and reliable option in certain locations.
      Each region may have its own reasons for choosing specific materials for construction, considering factors like cost, availability, and the local environment. Copper may not be suitable for certain areas due to its potential interaction with the soil composition, as you mentioned in Florida.
      It's essential for homeowners to be aware of the materials used in their homes' plumbing systems and take necessary precautions, like shutting off the water supply when going on vacation, to prevent potential damages.
      As a content creator, I appreciate your input and understand the importance of promoting awareness about such issues. If you have any further questions or topics you'd like me to cover, feel free to let me know. Thank you for being part of our TH-cam community!

Some good skill here that could be used as a temporary fix on MOST waste or overflow systems or these ideas are perfect for water butt storage systems but UK plastic pipes that carry mains water are not built like these and if you start heating them up and drilling into them your going to find yourself in a whole heap of trouble and soggy socks.

    Nothing like the homeowner that decides on Saturday afternoon that it is a perfect time to fix that months old small drip by using the idea in the new shortcut repair video he watched last night. Then his home water has to remain turned off overnight and he pays Sunday labor rates to have a real plumber fix his "FAIL". Not to mention that Momma is pissed off at him for attempting the repair in the first place. 😄😉 (NOTE: comment provided by a retired plumbing contractor that saw many variations of the Fail story during forty-five years in the trade👌)

    On honestly didn't eve watch the video...seeing a grinder in the thumbnail, and Soon as he started screwin that bolt i knew this was gonna take way too long...i would of already had it cut out in the basement/crawlspace and had a new section of pipe and spigot installed..(a proper repair), and on to the next job...
    Athough it always good to have tricks of the trade, amd know how to think outside of the norm. Like if there was no way to get to the pipe on the otherside of the wall like a basement or crawlspace, then this is a go to move. But if theres a basement, you're already going down there to shut the water off.
    I work with copper and solder...and its way quicker to chop and sweat...5 min for that whole job. Now if its a tricky spot..maybe. But again..its all copper here in NJ, US..so i have to get on the otherside of the wall .
    But doin this everytime, not knowing if there any issues on the otherside too, like a leak or crack...then thats losing money.
    And not really sure where there's cpvc pipe for water service above ground...Im in NJ, US...

    1:41 No primer? Fail. No structural support for a hose bib on plastic pipe? Fail. 2:09 No primer was the reason this insert was so easy to remove. There isn't even a chemical bond between parts. 5:00 Is that epoxy? That will most definitely fail. 7:00 I'm out. This is just garbage work.
