You made me a hero on site in front of a customer with my soldering station and new capacitor. I did, however, give you all the credit but still punched the air whilst they weren't looking. Thanks a lot from a humble electrician.
To remove the soldering you should have used a air pump or copper wire for desoldering, it will give you clean hole to put the new capacitor easily, doing it this way can burn the tiny filming on the card and create new problems. Thank u for sharing
Before taking your unit apart like this try 1. turn your sender unit up high to call for heating. 2. press the overide button on the receiver unit. The heating comes on straightaway because you have pressed the overide. My heating was on for a couple of hours. When I went back to turn off the override the red light was out. This worked for me last night and controls are still working OK today.

Thank you for that video - my particular Drayton SCR has a different fault to yours and i wonder if you would know this problem , its totally dead now all of a sudden with many years of no problem . So I cannot even 'over-ride' the heating with the over-ride button on the front and no lights come on, not even the red error light on the front. with it powered on if I lift it off its backplate the lights will flash once briefly (both red and green) then if I put the remote thermostat up to 30c to test the system out then clip the receiver back onto its base the lights flash briefly and a click sound of the relay and then thats it no lights , no heating , no way to over-ride ... totally dead - any ideas, the caps look all OK and not blown or electrolyte leaking out of any
Hi it to do with one of the capacitors in your unit and unfortunately I do not know any fix for that you may need to replace the unit they seem to be sensible prices now on eBay for about 30 quid

To be honest with you it may not be the same issue as the relay so I can’t really give you an advice but no lights come on it may be the fact there is a power issue on the unit sorry can’t help
I fixed my own digistat this way....then decided I hated the damn thing anyway as I found it hard to program and binned it for a Honeywell I find blissfully easy to program 😂 I'm retired Gas man these days......so why do I still watch training videos ? 😕
That's a real bad way to remove a component and an even worse way of installing 1 you run the risk of ruining the solder pad and thus, then having to bridge connections. always first remove the solder with a solder wick or a solder pump the component with then slide in easily, also it would've been better to have cut the component legs down to the size of the 1 you removed to make it far easier install

Yes, please don't stick the iron in the hole like that ! - you'll destroy the pad !
Great tip for fixing a receiver that shows a green light but does not fire up the boiler. Fixed for less than a fiver.

Hi Geoffery, will this fix solid red light on rf? Its communicating ok but wont fire up boiler, goes green for 1 sec then goes red.

Capacitors... it's always down to cheap Chinese capacitors! They've cost us (and the environment) dearly over the last decade.

Probably the worst company Drayton is. Several modules have failed and 5 theromstats have a screen failure!
