  • The Civil War in Georgia is an animated map that displays U.S. and Confederate Army movements across the state. The timeline begins in May 1864 and runs through May 1865. The map includes the Atlanta Campaign, Sherman’s March to the Sea, and culminates in the capture of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in south Georgia.
The Civil War in Georgia is generously funded by Sarah Kenan Kennedy.

This was fascinating to watch and see the battles unfold in real-time all the way until Jefferson Davis's capture. Thank you for making this!

To be fair I think Johnston had the right approach. Defend, whittle down the numbers and counter attack. The problem is he was replaced right before the battle at Peachtree creek. His plan was solid for the Peachtree creek atttack, and it would of caught part of the Union army on the wrong side pf the creek if executed correctly. However, they replaced him with Hood who was perhaps one of the worst army commanders of the war (good at div/corp level though). The rest as they say, is history.

One of my relatives, John Calhoun Foote, died in the Battle of Atlanta. Pretty sure it was Peachtree Creek.

It must have been the Calvary raids that destroyed the New Manchester Mill in which is now Sweetwater state park

The big blue blob was so big it looked like it could’ve rolled right through the cornfeds at Atlanta. The Confederates put up a good fight.

Sherman was a prince compared with his war counterparts in Europe at the time. If only he'd done to the leaders of the rebellion as we did to the Axis's in WWII, the revisionist history may have been averted.

Ignoramus. You know nothing about the rape and pillage of the country side innocents.

I'm not sure how a legal secession and the state's exodus from a voluntary Union constitutes a "rebellion". Sounds like the revisionist history wasn't averted at all.
