No mention of John A. Logan's heroics after the death of McPherson? Logan was the winner of the battle of Atlanta. His reward was to be demoted back to Corps Commander. No wonder he hated Sherman!

“Black Jack” Logan was a political General. Sherman just didn’t feel Logan had the chops to be more than being a Corp Commander. Later Grant sent Logan to replace George Thomas. Logan saw Thomas was finally ready to fight the Battle of Nashville. Logan stood down. The key thing was that Grant trusted Logan to be an Army Commander.

Is there anyway to get a copy of the slide deck? I enjoyed the program!

Hi Micah, thank you for the compliment and for your service. We've forwarded your request to the staff at the James A. Garfield National Historic Site. (They do all the hard work. We just host and film it.) Someone from there will get back to you soon.

Guess she read all they had to offer...
This was a difficult session to listen too.

Why did you find it difficult? I thought it was good! Better than usual for these TH-cam presentations, which often leave out many details and include misinformation. Certainly a sad and tragic story for many soldiers on both sides though!

Agree with Max L, but it isn't unprecedented; an acceptable practice for authors to read their books to the public.

I agree. She is not a good speaker. No disrespect intended.

She didn't discuss the abortive attack planned by Johnston at Cassville, which paradoxically was aborted by Commander Aggressive himself, Hood.
