10:27 the shaft unit has the drive pins that are keeping your tire from being removed. Those pins are part of a plate that easily comes out of the shaft unit, then the wheel just comes out, no struggle. Something the manual states. ;)
I use a 2X4 under the rear tire to raise/lower it instead of man handling it. Easier and lets you keep the other hand free for the twisting and lining up. But at least you posted a video while the rest of use arm chair coach. Good video. Thanks.
Hi Dylan, thank you for this video! I will change my rear break on my Honda Shadow Spirit 750, so your video helps me a lot. I will also do a video for my channel. I am french but the video will be in spanish. Greetings from Munich (Deutchland)! ✌
It is watching you work on that bike without the right kind of jack, and then to see no anchoring to the handlebars that would stop it from falling over. You had a forklift sitting right there that would have been a little safer than jack stands, 2X4's and a floor jack. You did get the job done so kudos for that. I now have refreshed my memory on how it came apart, so again I thank you for that. It looks as though the front of the frame is just teetering on the 2X4's. I again want to thank you for sharing your video. I hope going forward that maybe a little more thought goes into SAFETY, so that you will be able to share many more of your helpful videos.
Thanks for the response. I was not trying to be a smart ass just wanted more insite on your comment. The fork lift has no brakes so I’m not sure that would be safer. I only work on my own bike so buying a lift for use once a year seems unnecessary. I made a short of rear tire install that would definatly make u crimge and give you even more info. Hub came off with rear wheel. Much easier. Thanks again for the comment and reply.
Its easy. I actually unbolted those 4 bolts that attach the shaft to the drive just to get the tire out. Mine didnt pour oil out. Once you get the new tire on and those 5 pins aligned with the wheel assembly, you have to feed the shaft and slowly spin the tire in neutral til those gears seat properly. How you know its fully lined up is when it pushes all the way in onto the 4 bolt holes. I recommend threading the 4 nuts on snug too once you think its seated and put it in first and try to turn the rear tire. If it catches gear youll know its in. Be gental not to damage those gears on the head of the shaft too when spinning it. Lmk if you got it i can make a vid for ya its easier shown than explained :)
I am about to do this to my back tire. I think after watching you and the difficulty getting the tire to squeeze out and back in, I will attempt to use a clamp on the tire to narrow it and see if that makes a difference on getting it to fit out and in between the rear arms and drive shaft. maybe a little cooking oil where the tire touches also. I will let you know how it went.
When I do mine I drop the drive shaft out with the wheel. Slides right out. I am due a new tire on mine so I am going to a all weather car tire. Making my rim tubeless.
You can't loosen the axle nut before removing the brake caliper? I figure pulling in the front brake lever to lock the front wheel as you loosen the axle nut will make the axle nut losen better.
Yep that may help. I did not have a buddy and sometimes heat can be your friend! Thanks for watching and the comment! Thinking back I might have tried that.
Not really sure the easy way. This is the method I used I cut out a bit if my struggle but not a lot. The higher the better and take the shock loose on both sides. Good luck!
I ended up doing the exact same thing as you. From what I've seen on other videos seem like some shadows has skinnier back tire making it just come right out.
I apparently messed up taking mine out. I DID in fact take that rear gear box off. Unfortunately the shaft came with it. Now the shaft won't go back in enough for the box to get bolted back on. I've been searching all over and haven't found anything. Any ideas? Can't really take it anywhere without a tire to move it... I'm stuck.
Man that blows.... I ended up just letting the air out of the tire and working it back and forth till I got it out. I suggest that you take it to a honda dealer. Maybe find someone to haul it for you or rent a uhaul. Good luck man.

Brutally honest video!! You didn't hide the B.S. problems we will all run into!! We need more creators like this!! Thx bud!!!
Thanks man I try to keep it real.
Thank you very much for this video I just got a shadow maybe 2 months ago couldn’t find videos for nothing
Should have more to come. Thank you for the comment.
@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 no problem by any chance are you gonna do the rear brakes ?

Thank you for the tip. I think that is how I did it in my short.

Thank you for making this video! You don't know how much it helped!!!!!
I’m glad I know I had trouble the first time I did mine
Probably the best video out here. Like you said not a lot of info on this. Ran over a damn screw, I'll be using this video.
Thanks man! I have another flat on mine too! Not excited about doing in the gravel driveway! Good luck thanks for watching!
Thanks!!

Hey Dylan thank you so much for this video definitely saved me so much time 🤘🤘🤘
Exactly why I make videos! Thanks for the comment!!!
Thank you, Sr. from Jose.
Your welcome. Glad to help!
You wouldn’t happen to have a video on installing the drive shaft back? I wish I would’ve came across your video before getting the bike ripped apart😅
Sorry, no such video yet

Remove the rear lower shock bolts and the swing arm will drop below the exhaust and you will not have to remove the exhaust.
Thanks for the advice I’ll try that next time!
No need for any grease on the axle? This is a very helpful video just a question I thought of.
I don’t think it’s necessary, but I never read the manual either
Thumbs up. Very good video with lots of helpful information. Thanks
Thanks! I appreciate the comment!
What tools were you using like exactly
Pretty sure they’re mostly listed but they’re 12 mm 17 mm hex. 6mm Alan and 8 mm Alan.
After they changed my shadow chain I see the rear tire not aligned is there a way to do it myself?
I’m sure there is but I don’t know what it is mine is shaft drive
Nice job. I learned a lot. Thanks.
Thanks I’m glad. No problem.

Thanks and good luck. Get it high as possible!
A lot of info here. I learned more don'ts than do's, but it was still helpful info. Sorry I did not see much in the way of safety. :(
What donts did u learn.
Hell yeah man thank you!!! Luckily I don’t have to remove my exhaust with my short shots lol! Thanks again!
Must be nice! Thanks!
If you have a jack you can do it without removing the exhaust if you let the wheel droop
@@wigletron2846 good to know!

Would like to see a video of this.
How much did you pay for both tires? Thanks
300 ish for both
dude gave me a good idea but you should have a motorcycle jack stand any thanks
It would have made it easier

Please please help my rear shaft on cx650e is not coming out and I'm sick of trying and trying it not work
I did not remove the rear shaft. Not real sure how to help. Thanks for watching and the question. Sorry I was not more helpful.
Any tips for installing the exhaust? I think I've spent two hours trying to get the dang thing on and saw you edited out actually getting it on lol
Keep the rear high and kind of roll the front in.
This may help.

Just got my hands on the Shadow Spirit vt750 c2
Thinking of changing the back wheel for a Fat tire, wandering what size i can put on etc
New sub btw 👊
Really not sure tbh. I know it’s a bitch with the stock wheel and tire!
That gear box has to come off or something to make it easier right? I'm going through the same thing this evening

That was great! Thanks!
No problem Thanks for the comment thanksfor watching
you do not remove brake arm you loosen cable and remove brake housing asm when wheels out leaving just drum on wheel
Yeah that might be easier will defiantly try it that way next time! Thanks for watching and the tip!!!
Thanks man

The bearings don’t require to be lubed when I could’ve put a little grease on the axle shaft probably but I don’t think it would help
2 ugga duggas 😂
