The first time I had a GS puppy (8 weeks old) for just 6 weeks, had to give him away to a college. I think it was 2.5-3 year later, seen him again. Same reaction like the one in the video. They remember for a long, long time.
Never trick them! They are so loyal and have very long memories!!! 💕

I'm surprised it took him even that long. My parents come up every summer, my Golden knows it's them as soon as they pull up in the driveway. Loki is beautiful.

He moved downwind to get your scent. A dog will always trust its nose way more than its eyes.
That was kinda mean honestly. When you're away for so long, it is really hard on the pet. They don't know you're ever coming back, they just miss you. When you return, you just gotta return joyfully and let them go bananas with the happies.

If you are in the military (Navy) and deployed for 6 months or more at a time……your animals will always remember you! I know he was tricking his dog with his hoodie but it didn’t last long!
The first time I watched it I thought they didn’t see each other for 3 years because the comments made a big fuss about it. Then I rewinded and saw it only was 3 weeks, of course this amazing dog remembers him, he is not a cat. 😮

Yep, can relate. My collie brothers were the same. Loki is a stunning boy, Swiss Shepherds are some of the most beautiful dogs out there, outside AND inside. On my favorites list for my next (and possibly last, due to my age) companion when my rescue pack leaves me. Paired with a mandatory Collie boy (good old "Lassie" style, not these new showline interpretations). Sub and cheers and cuddles from Italy.
Loki will be my last too, I am sure. I don't even want to think about not having him around anymore. He is my best friend. Much love to you and your Collie boy!!!
@@lokithedogofmischief242 I hear you, once they are with you, they become part of the family and losing them is heartbreaking, especially when you raise them from the very beginning as pups and when they're extremely affectionate. Went through this a lot of times in the past. My collie boys left me at almost 14 and 15 back in 09/10 and now I'm caring for my last two rescues from my pack of 14 I adopted mostly from 2010 to 2011 (two of them collies again, the rest mutts). The past 2 years were terrible. I'm turning 60 this year, so I plan for one last cycle, this time again 2 boys from puppy age. Don't wanna risk to leave them. As a side note... I suppose you're German or Swiss? I lived over 3 decades in Switzerland before I went back to Sicily in 2004, and Swiss Shepherds were always on my list for their Beauty and lovely character. Cheers!

@@lokithedogofmischief242 Habs mir gedacht ;-) Mein Umzug war in der Tat ein Sprung zurück in den Dschungel, was Tiere angeht, als Hundefreund endest hier schnell mit nem halben Zoo und auf Kriegsfuss mit zu vielen gewissen Subjekten. Ist zum Glück unterdessen ein wenig besser geworden, dank den neuen Generationen. So endete der vorgesehene Zwischenstopp in eine Strandung. -Die Jungs kamen übrigens auf fast 14 und 15 Jahre, Tippfehler- (edit: Gehirnstreiche, lol). Alles Gute Euch allen, Loki explizit miteingeschlossen! Gruss vom rauchenden Ätna.

My son’s small mixed breed dog was afraid of me until she smelled me…..I had a coat and hat on. She was cowering until I got to her. I was even talking to her but thst want enough until she smelled me. I was not trying to fool her. I didn’t think abt it.
