The first time I had a GS puppy (8 weeks old) for just 6 weeks, had to give him away to a college. I think it was 2.5-3 year later, seen him again. Same reaction like the one in the video. They remember for a long, long time.

I'm surprised it took him even that long. My parents come up every summer, my Golden knows it's them as soon as they pull up in the driveway. Loki is beautiful.

His nose was telling him it’s daddy, but his eyes were telling him it’s an intruder! He was confused.
They can tell it’s you from miles away, just from your scent or your mannerisms. They’ll never forget you. You might, but they’ll never ever forget you. And whether you come back after a few hours, weeks or years you will still get this heart-warmingly loving welcome.
This is so sweet. I’ve noticed that most dogs hate hoodies and are very cautious and untrusting of anyone with their hood up. It really freaks them out. I’ve seen this behaviour so many times.

I was able to study abroad while in college. I was away for 4 months. My favorite memory was when I came home a couple of days before Christmas. I watched Paddy, my Bichon at the time, as she greeted my parents. Then I went up and whispered, "Paddy!" I swear she did a TRIPLE take! Then for a half hour, Paddy ran around, barked, did Bichon blitzes, and I laughed, cried and tried to catch my little dog. For the next 72 hours, Paddy wouldn't let me out of her sight! If I moved an inch, she was up watching me and ready to follow me.
I lost Paddy to cancer in 2000. I miss her so much.

So heartwarming. My two dogs act like that when I've only been gone for a couple of hours. I'd hate to see what they'd act like if I'd been gone for 3 weeks.
They recognise your smell, so he wasn’t happy until he got a whiff.
My golden retriever remembered me after 5 years.

He moved downwind to get your scent. A dog will always trust its nose way more than its eyes.
