Toyota, traditionally a pioneer in hybrid technology, has been slower to embrace the fully electric vehicle market. However, in 2023, they introduced their first EV, the Toyota bZ4X. This model, a collaboration with Subaru, shares similarities in design and pricing with Subaru's vehicles, resembling the Solterra and akin to the RAV4 in size. The bZ4X boasts a futuristic design with sharp creases and narrow headlight strips, contributing to its cyberpunk aesthetic. Although initially skeptical, we've grown to appreciate the darker body fenders, which some critics feel give the car an unfinished look.

i'm very satisfied with my bz4x xle awd. I did a long ride of around 315 km with one full charge 100% and when i came back, i still have 35% left at the end. Silent ride, comfortable, for my needs it's enough distance for me. For somebody who do 500km its not the car for you but for me...its is a great car.
Just wait for the winter to see real things ....
@@yunlifangyanthis comment was written in winter…
@@rihardsbimanis8390😂😂😂😂😂😂
Did the range estimate come from vehicle history, which wouId have been based on reviewers? From my user as a owner, I easily see 3.5 mi/kWh (no snow weather) with my AWD model. On my daily commute during summer, it's routinely over 4.0 mi/kWh. That puts range above EPA rating.
I have the XLE AWD and i love it siper smooth i get over 320kms with heating on and around 400kms with heating off
Great Review!!!
Could by any chance a buyer from MENA region have an update of the car to run car play on it as well having the screen all English?
200 mi range is more tham enough for me. Purchasd a 2023 bz4x with all the trimmings today :)
Loved the interior layout and the ride quality was just fine. The acceleration was surprisingly good!
I'm coming from a 2022 Kia Niro EV, which is, I think, a little quicker, but has too much torque, so the front wheels spin when I step down too much from a stop. It will be nice going from front to AWD, especially here in the Massachusetts winter.
Can this use the Tesla supercharger network? Can it be charged using a Tesla wall charger?
Unlike other competitors
Toyota give an accurate estimation range and horsepower
Without sacrificing the safety and efficiency
.
No they don’t. They overrate the power
@@naveenthemachine
Then, please don't get Toyota
You deserve another brand
.
@@Coxrmz my Toyota I currently own is way better than the bz4x
@@naveenthemachine
Sorry but I am a little confused
Do you currently drive another Toyota, the same company that you don't trust their power?!!!
How about they offer smaller wheels for more range?
I personally love the way cars are being designed these days I do like that futuristic look but we got to be careful with overusing the black panels on everything
The black panels is just another way for the manufacturers to cut costs to them but not to their customers.
Will the wheels be a permanent fixture.....
I get 189 miles on 80% charge of my 2024 bz. I've had it for a few weeks and honestly like it a lot. It will get me anywhere I need to go in the greater Seattle area, and I have a gas car for longer distances. No EV is going to be as good on road trips, so if that is a bid deal for you, EVs aren't for you. Get a hybrid or full ICE.
Hello, I am writing to Toyota company with a request. It is a very good car, but the charging is very slow. I spend 3 hours on the charger every day. Can you speed up the charging? and the distance is also less.
Range is fine for me. I took delivery last week.
it actually looks better in person on the road
A bmw m3 actually looks better in person on the road. Not this 😂
@@naveenthemachine Yes this is true. Also some Mercedes look bad on the internett but grows on you seen in real life. This Toyota is one of the most boring new car line i've ever seen. Also heard from several people coming from Rav4 (witch only have quality going for it) that this is kind of meh.
@@humushumus2219 plus Mercedes has a much higher level of prestige and luxury to make up for it. Once you sit inside any Mercedes even if it’s exterior is ugly you quickly forget about it once you see the interior
@@naveenthemachineAnd drive it. At least it used to be like that. A Mercedes in the 90s felt like something Toyota only managed to achieve 20 years later. Infact Toyota exec's knew this. Today Toyota is my brand of choice only due to reliability(witch is good, but grossly exaggerated compared to other good brands) and price.
@@humushumus2219 tbh Toyota reliability and quality are a thing of the past.
I got a 2024 AWD XLE, and I can get 260 miles / 420 km no problem
I am into EVs and this one makes no sense to me. Less range, slower charging, slower accelerating then pretty much any other EV for similar money. This is the EV that fits the stereotypes EV haters use. I personally find the styling of the RAV4 much better, this looks like they started to go there then called good when they were half done. Do yourself a favor and literally test drive any other EV, well except maybe the Ariya.
In the $40k range this is a total joke compared to a Tesla Model Y, but there are some good leases apparently, in which case, very attractive. ($1k down, $100/month...insane really if true)
It's nice
My friend just bought one. He said he would have gotten a Model Y, but Musk's recent volatility has diminished the Tesla brand. I feel sorry for him though, because he paid a lot more for a lot less. $50k for an awd that gets under 225 miles compared to Model Y 310. Horsepower, handling and price: Model Y beats. Constant over the air updates means the Y will get better and better over the years. What happens when this thing loses 20% of its' range after 5 years? Now you're looking at 160 - 180 max range? I really feel bad for my friend, who bought this thing.
Don't be jealous! LOL
Real question here, those teslas seem to need new tires every 15-20k miles according to some friends I know that have them. How long do the tires last on this Toyota?and if it loses 20% of its range in 5 years it’s covered by a required warranty for all Ev’s.
I’d take one in AWD at 1/2 off if Toyota wants to dump remaining stock
I got a fwd for 35k here in california lol . Love it
I got a FWD limited for 33,300. They are definitely out there.
This is a toy car. I am very sad to buy this car because its only problem is charging. First of all it takes long time to charge if 50% charged with level 3 it will take 2 hours 30 minutes. Then you have to keep the car at full stop which you have to suffer in extreme cold, heat. After that if you start the car and turn on the heat and AC then you can run the car for one hundred miles. So don't waste your time and money buying this car. thank you😅😅😅😂
Just don’t buy it then
Lol@@Palaychos
Hey Toyota: Trade yourself in on the competition.
Hey Toyota: give up already. Other brands have surpassed you to unapproachable levels
In China, they call this verification code for the name, cuz of its random number and letter😂 And this car is a scam EV.
RIP Toyota 💀
Did I just see manual operated front passenger seats?? At that price? No thanks!
Yeah fuck Toyota
The dark fenders look like they need to be painted.
They are way overpriced for the cruising range and where we live, during the cold winter months EVs loose 40% of the charge.
I’m quite sure that everyone who has hone through a Brown out where the power is out for a week or more will run out and buy an EV… NOT.
I’m also sure that people Love having to wait for an hour or more to recharge their batteries.
Most EV owners don’t know that under the charging stations is a Diesel powered generator to produce electricity.
If you drive an EV you’ll have to drive it for 90K miles to break even on the pollution that is released into the atmosphere in producing just ONE EV battery
I live in Minnesota. My average during the cold has been 2.7 mi/kWh. That's a range loss of 21%.
@@john1701a Here in our very mountainous area of north central Washington state, if an EV isn’t in a heated garage, they’re loosing 40% of charge overnight.
So if you’re loosing 21%, if you had a gasoline powered vehicle, would it be ok if someone took 21% of your fuel every night?
If not, then what’s the difference?
You’re still loosing 21% of your out of pocket expenses.
I’m not against an EV, but we’ll never own one.
Under almost ALL charging stations is a Large diesel generator producing electricity so people with an EV can feel good about themselves.
Just to produce One EV battery, there’s the same pollution being released into the atmosphere as driving a gasoline powered vehicle for 90K miles.
My wife is a nurse and if we had an EV, then she could charge her EV for free at the hospitals expense. But we’d rather get into our vehicles and drive for hundreds of miles, fill up in 10 minutes and hit the road again.
Three years ago Dallas / Ft Worth had a brown out for 2 weeks. Because no one had electricity EV owners had to take the buses until the EV busses ran out of power. The gasoline stations couldn’t pump fuel for the vehicles so that entire area had no transportation, no A/C no refrigerators, etc.
The only people who semi-survived were people who had solar powered homes.
I would prefer if the Corolla Cross Hybrid had this same appearance as the bZ4X (try memorizing that name) -- as this EV is just too big for my needs. Which is why I'm getting the CC Hybrid next year! Two reasons why this EV SUCKS and doesn't sell -- LOW range and Where's the Frunk?
The frunk is a gimic, an artifact ftom legacy carryover. Notice how much lower bZ4X's hood is without. That's better for visibility.
The range has been improved in the recent may update not sure why these reviewers are regurgitating the same old info .from past reviewers I get nearly 400kms in winter with heating off and 320 to 330 with heating on
This car has just embarrassed Toyota. So many better options out there, Koreans, Europeans, Americans Japan sucks at evs
Toyota in general embarrasses themselves compared to other brands
Probably the fastest depreciating and worst EV you can buy today.
Toyota is introducing totally new battery technology in 2 years rendering this vehicle worthless.
Also note EV’s have 79% more problems than ICE vehicles. (CR November 2023)
Agreed Toyota let us down as usual
And also by the time that happens Toyota probably won’t be in business😂
When is the trio bZ4X, Solterra, RZ450e going to get cancelled? If you watch dealers on Roadster these don't sell. Subaru, Toyota, Lexus had to put something out to the market to satisfy CARB.
I always wonder if this guy has ever actually watched any of his videos after he makes them. I have to assume he never has, because there’s no way he would continue to act the way he does in them if he saw them
Your Jeep in for service again? 🤔
haven't a clue what you're talking about. his review is good.
Piece of garbage to be honest very disappointing from toyota !!!
Wow you really wasted your time CarGurus with this joke of a vehicle.😂
Any rational human being with any physical sense will say that everything is wrong with this vehicle.
Exactly. 👍
and yet everyone loves to accuse me of being the internets biggest Toyota hater😂
Clearly this is just one of many examples where everyone is unable to prove me wrong.

Toyota is #1. This crap EV isn’t. ✅
