    Yup. It’s like breaking my brain to fly this thing through stuff and trust it will avoid it. Worse yet is running through the woods and believing it will follow me and not hit trees. Glad you got yours!!

    I love your enthusiasm and excitement. I have a Mavic Mini and I am having a blast with it. The other day I flew it over an in-progress 9 acre land clearing in our neighborhood. I took it up to 200 ft. and lost sight of the little guy. As I was buzzing all around the area shooting the heavy equipment ripping trees out of the earth etc. I received a low battery warning indicating it was coming home. When I finally was able to hear it before seeing it I was tingling with excitement. It was my first landing where I didn't manually do it myself. It was amazing. As a retired photographer with extra time (covid) I am loving. flying a drone. I will be upgrading to a Air 2 before the year is out. Love your videos. I might order your premium tee. Be safe.

    I'll definitely be ordering one of these. I am tired of my Mavic 2 Pro losing track of me while running around like a mad person in my backyard. My Mavic 2 Pro once tried landing on my cable wires in the backyard and it tipped over and instantly regained control in the air. It was about a 15ft of ground and it stabilized itself instead of crashing. It was a weird day 😂

    Great job Russ! That remote does appear to be pretty cheesy. Stubby non-removable sticks is just one issue with that RC. I swapped mine out for my DJI MA RC with Polar Pro's adjustable sticks....... what a difference. This Anafi RC for the S2 is quite the opposite of what the drone is. It's missing soooo......... much. Skydio surely could have made one but, they were in a big hurry to get tge S2 released. Firmware/software is also suffering in many area's. I'm in batch 2 slowly reaching the top of the fence. I really like the ergonomics of the Anafi controller,but shake my head at the use of wifi.I know the Anafi has sketchy range (personal experience) at best with no consistancy .

    @AddyOverbeeke 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks Russ for sharing your 1st experience. From that, I can see that you could quickly get confidence to fly knowing the drone will not crash. It would be interesting to center the drone within the trusses of the train bridge so that the drone flies smoothly through the opening instead of sense and avoid software hunting to find the sweet spot to navigate through. I wonder if possible to fly then smoothly through each truss tower in the flight path of the train track. I guess that would depend on each truss tower having the same alignment opening? Love your honest emotions of the experience. Yeah, I am in batch 3 order for the Skydio 2 and hoping by then a major app release provides telemetry data. I agree that is the most important. Why would the Skydio team not have that? What were they thinking? Also, wondering if possible to pair another more capable RC Controller other than the Parrot version? which is not a cool controller to use. Happy Holidays.

    Just an obscure reference I think the Parrot TX is not as bad as you think. For sure better then the Mavic mini TX. I'm sure you have flown the Anafi before and I think for example the Gimbal rocker is very intuitive as well as the sticks can be as you can dial all the sensitivity with the FFP 6 app to your liking. I'm sure Skydio 2 may add all that to their app. I'm for sure glad they did not pick a TX from DJI ! I'm trying to stay objective here Russ, I have the M2P with the Smart Controller, Air, Platinum and Parrot. I personally like the Parrot TX and I just got three messages from my friends that you are bashing the Parrot TX so I'm the one who don't mind objecting...lol Love your work, your channel is great, long time member...Can't please all right ? So back off the Parrot TX !!!! haha

    • @MitchGaar
      @MitchGaar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DJI TX are much better. Sounds like you are a Skidio Fan Boy. Skidio cant be compared to any other Drone as to Distance,Reliability, Features. Im talking about drones Like Autel Evo, DJI Mavic 2 Pro, and others. The Skidio is good for one thing, following someone on a skateboard and Obstacle Avoidance. I can see hw it is worth the same money as Mavic 2 Pro?

    • @51Drones
      @51Drones  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MitchGaar Actually, the profit margin is significantly lower than any DJI drone. I'm a DJI fan boy from day 1, if you watch my channel you would know that. That M2P that we paid $1500 for probably cost DJI about $500 to manufacture. I'm guessing the Skydio2 has a much lower percentage. The components are way more complicated than any Mavic. I'm not a Skydio fan boy, but a I am a fan boy of something no one has done yet. Innovation is the prize for me.

    • @ConservativeUSA67
      @ConservativeUSA67 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mitch did you read my comment or are you just abusing your powers of your GED education and ability of using a keyboard? First of all be careful using words like "fan boy" etc. My perspective and experience is unbiest to any manufacturer. I was talking about a transmitter that I have used for over 500 times that was made by Parrot... Have you? I have a MP2 with 54 hours on it using the Smart Controller, Mavic Air, Mavic Platinum so my only point was that given those facts I can form an opinion about that TX. I'm not talking about who's manufactures TX or drone is better and for sure does not make me Skydio 2 fan boy. Apparently you can't even spell 'skidio' because judging by your comments the DJI mouth drool must be getting your keyboard stuck. So calm down get a tissue, collect your thoughts before you start typing and get the home made Russ hat off your head, put your DJI slippers on and calm down 👌

    • @jackkhach
      @jackkhach 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fly Gor I don’t get the point seriously when people claim themselves as fan boy. First we are not boys anymore. We are adults , grown up men who work to pay for our hobbies unless we get it for free as gift. How can someone state so surely that testing models are bad and claim that DJI or this or that is better whiteout even seeing and flying one. Without having the final product ? That kind of thoughts are simply laughable. After all it’s a tool that takes some skills to make something out of it and I don’t mean just cranking the controller sticks to left and right and call themselves pilots. I have done videos with spark that came out to be better than some done with mp2. So Best is to get creative instead of praising a brand that charges us 3-4 times of its actual cost.

    Wow! That is amazing. We have to wait until like mid next year to get one? I hope they can do something about improving fulfillment times.

    First time I am hearing about the Skydio 2, right here
    Footage looks impressive
    Amazing landscape, would make great movie set!
    Just got my OSMO pocket 2 days ago, have watched most of your videos on it, good job. (latest firmware is hot)
    Gorgeous backdrop behind you, looks like a Rockwell painting :)
    (noticed the OSMO was breathing focus a bit)
    Your fun factor flying through the Truss was infectious, Cheers!
    Gave the Thumbs up and SUBED.

      Thanks! Yes, I don't know why the Pocket was focus hunting. I had everything set correctly.

    I don't think you are giving the M2P enough credit. I bet APAS could make it through those giant holes. If I get a day without rain and find a similar structure I am going to try.

    Good vid Russ, glad to see a review that wasn't about making "look at me" videos. Seeing this really shows some of the capabilities. I find myself using the telemetry info constantly so I will def wait to see if that feature is added. The obstacle avoidance on these looks to be very advanced,...quite appealing!
    My other concern about this drone was the back props facing downward. This worries me that there is no protection for them when landing...has that caused you any issues?

  • @Canyon76

    NO TELEMETRY!!!!! WTF? Yeah that's practically a killer! But a cool first flight. I do think there are some use cases with the controller, like when you want to manually film some scenes that have some obstacles that you don't really want to have to worry about much.
    Looking forward to your next videos....

    Skydio 2 or Let‘s watch Russ have heart attacks. It was a real hoot watching you losing it. LOLOLOLOL. Good video

      Man, I wouldn't fly a $3 gas station kite near that bridge … I thought for sure, that this video was going to end up being more of a stress test of Skydio's CRM rather than their new drone, hahaha. Three times through the bridge gridwork … three times!? Why not fly it at a plastic garbage can to test the avoidance software. 3 times at a non-trivial altitude!? Hahah… it's like watching those crazy free climbers that do chin-ups at the top of cell phone towers.
      "Tune in next week when Russ tests the Skydio 2 Beacon by carrying it through an operating automotive assembly plant, tossing it over the fence into a 220kV electric utility substation, and finally, by dropping the Beacon into an active volcano!" 😎
