You could do this in so many ways...add ground beef and spices for a Taco/Burrito chaffle with salsa and sour cream on top! The possibilities are endless
OMG! I made Crab Cake Benedicts for my husband and I this morning and man oh man, they were great! You nailed it!! The chaffles were topped with a poached egg and your hollandaise sauce and I was "mmmming" through the whole breakfast. THANK YOU! (Yes, lump crab is expensive right now - Oct 2023 - but when you think of what you would pay for a crab cake benedict at a restaurant, all of a sudden this is a bargain, not to mention way healthier.)
This doesn't sound silly at all Steve! This sounds like a heaven on a chaffle my keto friend. Now we just have to wait for your Lobster Po'Boy chaffle.
Hi Steve, I've been listening to some of the early podcasts where you mention the recipe/blog sites of others and how you have to hunt for the recipe (and the reason why they do it which I found very interesting). I want to thank you for how simple and clean your recipe pages are. It makes a lovely change to be able to go straight to it and not be bombarded with lots of superfluity. Yes, I had to look that up. I knew that superfluous was a word but wasn't sure about the noun.
Mayo, yogurt/sour cream, chopped pickle with a shake of Pensey’s “Fox run” onion combo seasoning. Mix it up. It’s a great clean Tarter sauce. Would be yummy with crab chaffle.
I just made 4x the recipe for my family. We tried with butter, with lemon and with both. The favorite seems to be just plain. No one here will eat onion, so I used granulated instead. Still delicious! Thank you for this incredible recipe! On my last chaffle I put granulated lemon in the batter…wonderful!
OMG, this one's got me. I have everything, guess what's for lunch tomorrow! 😄 I'm thinking dill tartar sauce would be fabulous with these. Mayo, sour cream, dill, lemon juice, salt, chopped pickles, a drop of stevia, some black pepper, and a little hit of Old Bay & Louisiana hot sauce.... you're all set!😋
I wanted to try this as soon as I saw the look on your face when you took that first bite! I didn't have any crab meat on hand, so I substituted salmon and made 2 salmon patties. They were delicious! Can't wait to try the crab cakes. Thank you for all your great ideas and content!
I’ve had this recipe for a few years and finally tried it. I used canned crab as that’s all I have access to where I live. These were very tasty! I ate them with mayo mixed with a little horseradish. Thanks for leaving this recipe up long enough to for me to get around to trying it! I think next time I might just fry these up in a pan so it can go quicker than my one little Dash mini can go.
@@SeriousKeto I had the leftovers for lunch and they tasted even better! Forgot to bring my horseradish sauce but had some ranch dip. It was really good with that too!
Thank you Steve. I have made so many chaffles based on your recipes (including your recipes!) and have loved just about all of them. This will be no exception, I'm sure. I have some smoked salmon in the fridge...I think I'll also try these with that, as well as the crab. Thank you so much again for all the knowledge and wisdom that you share with us.
I bet if you pulverized a slice of that Aldi's Zero bread to make bread crumbs, and mixed some in, these would be perfect for pan-frying the old fashioned way! I think I'm gonna try that for Salmon patties this weekend.
I've been playing with the idea of real meal chaffle's. Turkey and dressing, grilled chicken and veg, , philly steak with onion peppers. You have just elevated the whole chaffel dynamic! Thank you sir. BTW, have you checked out, I DON'T SUGAR COAT youtube channel. That woman does some seriously wonderful keto magic. Just found her and thought of you. Oh what you could do with some of her basic dough recipes.
I’d really love to try to make these since I love chaffles and crab! 🦀😋Another seafood item that’s not keto is baked stuffed clams. I miss them so much and I’d love to find a keto recipe for them if you have one 😁 Or maybe develop one? Thanks for all the tasty recipes!!
I loved the idea of this even though I have never had a Maryland crab cake. Combining ideas from some of your other videos, I set out to make a dairy free version. I made two different batters substituting out the mozzarella cheese. For the first, I used 2 Tbls tahini in place of the cheese. I would use 3 Tbls tahini next time. For the second test batch, I used 2 Tbls blanched almond butter with 1 Tbls almond milk instead of the cheese. I also upped the crab to 3 ounces. Both batches came out delicious. The blanched almond butter keeps the batter lighter in color. I got three crab cakes from the batter. With a drizzle of lemon juice, these were fabulous. With a poached egg on top and my homemade hollandaise (yes with clarified butter), this would be a yummy breakfast.....Oooh, oooh - I have some crab left. Guess what's for lunch tomorrow? Thanks for the inspiration.
First of all thank you to the person that suggested this type of a Chaffle. Secondly thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh my goodness I cannot wait to try! I printed this immediately. 😋
That looks amazing; like just the sort of thing I'd walk around with like it was street food. I haven't left the house since Feb, and this just looks like a bit of 'outside' to me
Husband and I have been making traditional Crab Cake Waffles for many years. Traditional Tuna Cake Waffles, too, so I'll definitely try the KETO ones! KETO 🦀🧇 😎
Just made this for my lunch YUMMY!!!! I did add 1/4 t Dejon and 1/4 t Worchester sauce because I normally put that in regular crab cakes. I know Worchester isn't Keto and i have seen a Keto recipe but wasn't in the mood to make it. Thanks!!!
@@SeriousKeto I read that it isn't. It has sugar added to it. I feel like I don't use enough to make it that big of a deal. I guess that means I'm "dirty" keto.
Awesome! Truly enjoyed by my husband and I. Lump crab is expensive, but with only 4 oz for two people, it makes an affordable treat. Same recipe worked with canned tuna, and lo and behold - canned sardines (boneless, skinless and drain the oil; extra Old Bay). I use rounded tablespoons of the veggies. A tablespoon of med-hot salsa kicks it up a notch. A great sauce for the tuna and sardines is sweet chili sauce mixed with your favorite keto ketchup. I'm not a great fan of sardines, but these chaffle fish cakes were pretty darn good, and really inexpensive (1 can of sardines for a double recipe.)
I still need to get used to the Old Bay Seasoning taste..we don’t seem to use it as much here in Canada..in fact it took me a long time to find it...certainly trying these!
Looks and sounds delicious Steve! PS I’ve made a tartar sauce before for regular fish with a keto mayo and chopped up dill pickles really super tiny and that was tasty...I’m gonna give that a try with this recipe and will let you know if the combo works!!
Great timing Steve! Crab season starts on Tuesday. I just finished putting the lettering on another workboat this morning and the waterman asked me if I like crabs. I love working with them... they're so generous. I've got some fresh crabs coming soon. Now I have the perfect recipe for them!

I have a bunch of canned sardines I am trying to choke down, I bought when I first started Keto because they are so good for you, but I found I am not a fan. I think I will try adding to this chaffle and see if I can eat them this way.
This looked sooooo good I went to our butcher shop and got some lump crab meat. I typically NEVER eat crab cakes out because they use too much cracker/bread crumbs as a filler. I save myself for my son's (he's a chef) Now I can make my own anytime! I used tartar sauce and remoulade sauce from Epicurious, which I love these two recipes! Stellar cakes!

Serious Keto it is a seasoning. Used a ton in Louisiana for crawfish boils and cooking shrimp etc. I am in Massachusetts and I found it in Walmart. Use it very sparingly. One drop is a lot.
OMG, I made the whole 16 oz can of lump crab so I made your recipe X 8, in other words, I octupled your recipe, and it made 16 crab cake chaffles. I made them for my nursing unit, I am an RN and I work night shifts on the oncology unit. Everyone loved them. I served them with 3 side toppings if desired, 1. with a little lemon drizzle, like you. 2. I made cocktail sauce with sugar free ketchup and hot horseradish, and 3. A lemon caper butter sauce (has 1 gram carb per 2 Tbsp). They were a hit with my Keto community at the hospital. Thanks. ***** (5 star recipe). :o)
Yeah, I know surimi well, here in hawaii it's always been called imitation crab. Almost always made from alaskan pollock. I don't know if the texture would be right for this crab cake, also surimi does have some carbs since it contains wheat or corn starches and soy. One other good substitute I think would be salmon.
