    I always put just a little bit of air in my innertube, so it holds its shape inside the tire and on the rim. Also it's handy to line up the tire pressure instructions with the valve stem, that way you don't have to hunt for it.

    to make it easy to change the rear tire incase of flat i did not use the nylon wire straps, instead used the velcro cable ties

    I'm saving up for some decent tyre liners to help prevent most flats. In the meantime I'll stick within 5 miles from home. Not sure if I should go Tannus tubeless or with tubes for 26 X 4 tyres. mostly road and light track use.
    I hear the Mr Tufty liners are good as well but harder to find where I am.

      Flats do happen regardless of the precautions you take. I have had good luck with Tannus liners, but even then I have still had flats. It’s always best to carry what you need to fix the flat on the road…just in case. A huge part of the fun having an e-bike is to go long distances!
      Enjoy the ride!

    What do you think about the Magicycle Deer Step-Thru? I love my Zebra Step-Thru but the Deer Step -thru might be my favorite step-thru now!

      Hi Joseph, I don’t have a Deer but looking at the description for them I would think they would be awesome!
      I love the power of the Ocelot, which would be very similar to the Deer. And the Deer has built in suspension to boot. I can’t imagine it wouldn’t be a blast to ride.

    You might want to test inflate new tube to check for leaks before putting inside tire .

    Hey Tim, could you give me a link on where to buy and how many spacers to buy so I can raise my handlebars up just like you did on your Magicycle Ocelot Pro? My hands go numb at times from leaning forward on them and I would like to rectify that issue. What is the maximum i can raise the handlebars on this bike ? Did you raise yours as high as possible considering the hydraulic brake cables? Also, have you ever replaced the chain ring to a 52 teeth one in order to prevent the "ghost peddling"?
    Thank you, Tim, good luck on getting your golf swing back.

      It will be the same parts I used for my Himiway cruiser. I show the process here in this video:
      th-cam.com/video/lJzmAja-APk/w-d-xo.html
      Let me know if you have any questions.
      The main limiter for me was the length of the cables and brake lines. With these parts you will be able to adjust it down a little if yours are too short.
      I haven’t swapped out the front crank to eliminate ghost pedaling yet. I know many people on the Facebook forums have done that for various bikes though.

    isn't bad to flip over the bike with hydraulic fluid? Also can you do a video on how to replace the pads on the hydraulic brakes? I have no clue how to do it on my ocelot pro safely. Thanks.

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory the hydraulic brake system is a sealed system and you shouldn’t have any issues temporarily flipping it upside down. But occasionally when you flip the bike it can dislodge an air bubble inside the system. That can cause your brakes to be “mushy”. In that event you would need to bleed the system.
      I definitely wouldn’t leave it upside down for extended periods. Some manufacturers do recommend against flipping bikes with hydraulic brakes.
      I may eventually do a brake pad replacement for hydraulic brakes. But in the meantime, the process is very similar to the mechanical brakes. You remove the caliper from the frame. Take out the cotter pin, slide the pads out. Then wipe off the caliper to get rid of oils and dirt. And install the new pads replacing the cotter pin. Then re-install the caliper on the frame and adjust the brakes.
      IMPORTANT NOTE: Do NOT squeeze the brake handle on a hydraulic brake system when the caliper is off the rotor. The pistons inside the caliper will pop out ruining the caliper!
      Here is the video I did on changing the brake pads on a mechanical caliper.
      I hope this helps, I will put a hydraulic brake pad replacement on the list of videos to do in the future.

    I hope I never have to do this. Looks doable but seems like it never goes as smoothly for me when I have to do it. I like how you turn it over. I need to get some blocks like that. I would like to see the bike stand you use. Not for changing a flat but it sure would make cleaning and lubing the chain much easier.

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really isn’t that bad a job. Although it’s more comfortable to do it in an air conditioned garage. Doing on the side of the road wouldn’t be as fun.
      Here is the video for the Bikehand Bike stand (rated for 110lbs) sry about the music…

      Also instead of blocks you can consider these handlebar jacks. The added bonus is that you could carry these with you on your rides.

    Which do you like the best? Magicycle crusier, ocelot, or the zebra? I’m 6 foot and really thinking I want a 20 inch tire.

    • @TinkeringTurtle
      @TinkeringTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. My two “daily” riders are the Ocelot and the Zebra. I love the ease in which you can get on and off of these bikes.
      The zebra has an even and smooth acceleration and has the benefit of the taller tires for a smoother ride and good clearance from the pedals at the bottom of the stroke to the ground.
      The Ocelot has a lot of power with very quick acceleration. The smaller wheels makes it very nimble, but occasionally the pedal will scrape the ground in corners if I forget to put the pedal on the inside of the turn in the up position.
      Both have a ghost pedal issue that will have to be addressed with a new front crank. I really like both of them although riding them gives you different kinds of experiences.

      @@TinkeringTurtle I was wondering if the Ocelot would fit me. I was really thinking about it. I was looking at that one or the Jaguarundi since it folds up.

      I am 6’ 3” tall, and love riding it!
      But I did raise the handle bars and put on a suspension seat post.
