Today's test subject, the Rockford Fosgate Prime 750.1. This is RF's budget series amplifier. There is Prime, Punch and then Power series so this is the more "affordable" of the bunch. I have tested a few "cheap" brands in the past video's that claimed about 10x the power they really made so now i figured i would test the Prime amp, since it is RF's most basic model. Let's see if RF is telling the truth when they say 750 on the box...and i am a customer who doesn't know any better.
the SMD D'Amore Engineering Amp Dyno AD-1 is about to set the standard in car audio for amplifier ratings. Does your 5000 watt amp really do 5000 watts? Whether it is car, pro, or home audio, the AD-1 AKA the Honey Badger, does not care.
Remember, the amp dyno isn't so much about your amplifier not making the power as it is WHY the amp isn't making its power. If your electrical system, or some other link in the chain is not working to its full potential, the amplifier will not either. The dyno shows any small change you make in REAL TIME.

This is why I've been a HUGE RF fan since my first generation Punch 150 back in 1986. Overbuilt, quality, craftsmanship and value for your money. I've bought many amps over the years and the RF's have always been reliable. Great test! I'm gonna do some more old school amp tests soon!!!

I had the prime 1000.1 on(2) 12s Alpine Type R and the prime did its job very well. The subs were wired down to 1ohm. It sounded good for an budget build..
I used RF since 89’ starting with the punch 45 in 89’. Now using RF 750X1 at 1ohm on (1) Skar 10” dvc2 and plenty of “Boom” for my neighbors needs! I like Alpine too; have used their heads since 1st purchase w/cassette in the 80’s!#🔊❤️RF#thepunch@shane
I own the Rockford Fosgate RD1200.1 Myself. And Find it to be a working beast. Being rated at 1200 Watt RMS 1 Ohm, Birth sheet was 1283 watts.
Did a Clamp test into 4 x 10 " Sundowns E10 V.2 2 Ohm DVC's
My Measurement was 60.2 Volt AC at 27.9 Amps out = 1679 Watts. 40 HZ 0db Ref.
So they definitly do rated wattage plus some. Nasty as Hell on 4 of the 10's

this test inspired me to get the 1200.1 version. great amp. running 4-8" Alpine type R in my truck. bangs nicely. thanks for the test.

certified mode is a hard test...most amps can be forgivin' if they at LEAST pass un-certified mode.
Rockford amps are top notch. I don't think I could buy anything else.

I appreciate what steve doe's, he truly shows the integrate of companies who sells product's who claim number's they either make or don't make. I can go out and buy a amplifier and know something about what to expect, doesn't mean I won't buy a amp that the manufacteurs lie about, but I can just use that amp in a different situation. Steve has the equipment to do in your face testing, so if he makes a buck, then good for him.

i have the r1200 of this amp, and i love it. you get awesome performance for not a ton of money. going with almost anything from Rockford fosgate , you cant go wrong with there brand.
Rockford Fosgate blew my mind today. Went to a shop in San Jose and bought the Prime R300X4 along with a kicker 4Gauge amp kit and installation. Got out the shop for $300 even. The shop did an amazing job of installation. It sounds great. I just got home and opened the RF Prime box to check the birth sheet, only to find out my 300W amp can do 404 Watts. 100W of underrating on a 300W budget amp? That's a legit company.

my 500 watt mono came with a 647 birth sheet
Yeah that's at 1 ohm with 14.4 volts continues power supply. With no upgrades you'll probably be getting half of that. (At best)It can all be calculated for exact results. Prime amps are the lowest, affordable, entry level amp. They internal components are weak. I've had a 400.4 prime and 1200.1 d. Wasted of money. The punch is like 75 dollars more and sounds 10x better.
No, thats 647 at 2ohm, Primes are not meant for 1 ohm loads or at least mine, And i was running 13.8-14.4 continuously. For 110 bucks from Amazon that amp was WELL worth the money especially for people just getting into subs. Or even highschool kids on a budget. An entry level amp and such a low cost and does more than the actually rated printed watts, well you cant make a valid argument.
souls elite: The Prime 300 isn't 1 ohm stable. It is rated at 2 ohms. With "no upgrades" I measured it at over 400 watts with an oscilloscope and multimeter. The prime 4CH amps from RF are probably the best deal on the market.
Bought the 1200w version of this based on this video cant wait to give it a shot, thanks for doing these!

I use this exact amp in my ride, it's pushing a 15" P3 @2ohm I have abused the shit out of this amp for long periods of time and it performs like a champ every time.

I don't know who "fosgates daughter" is. I don't sell "Fausgate" products. I just have a lot of them because they are good. Did someone have you thinking this is a stereo shop? it's not, it is my garage. I sell SMD D'Amore Engineering products though, it's not a store front.
Just to let everyone know, i have no fucking idea who you are, what you said, or what i may have said to you. I am not a "fanboy" of anything. You still cannot put RF and Hifonics in the same category. The Brutus amp i just tested did OK, but imagine what will happen if i run a Hifonics "1700 watt rms" amp vs a Rockford T1500bd "1500 watt amp". It wouldn't even be a contest. So just stop. If i had a clue who you were, or i cared, i would do it and shut you down with the quickness.
Yes, I had the old R500-1 and while it put out the power it got hot all the time, I replaced it with the amp in the video and have been very happy, I have ran my system full blast for 3 hours strait and it doesn't even get come close to overheating...The R750-1D is well worth the money

Glad to know Rockford is true to their word even with their inexpensive line. I have the 1200.1 and the 4 channel model in my Mountaineer. Glad that's it's supplying proper power to my speakers.
I just picked up the prime 400x4. Of all the amps I've ever owned this rockford was the best bang and most underrated for the buck!

keith phillips no problem asking bro. I have them the punch eq set all the way down. The gain only at 4. But I have the remote gain up by my drivers seat I control it with. The infrasonic about 33hz. The other filter is about 60hz(not exactly sure)?? And my setup will chatter your teeth and take your breath away. These lil amps get down. I'm also running mine with zero gauge at 1ohm.

Pretty impressive, especially considering the price point of the amp. Now I see why Steve has such respect for Rockford Fosgate. I'm loving these "Amp Test Tuesday" vids! Been watchin' Steve's channel for almost 6 years now. Keep up the great work Steve!

I have the 500/1 and it’s a lil beast pushes 2 12’s no problem at 2 OHMS
what are the speakers your powering with it? do you know there rms off hand? i usually match my speakers rms with the amp and then tweak it up a little from there if i need to. Things to listen for is distortion i have a feeling you will cook your speakers before you cook the amp. i run a the f250 *alpine version i guess* and i have them screaming really loud and there still clear as heck. Also steve meade has a couple neat kliping tools he sales that are a great tool to have when tuning

I'm powering two 12" p3 at 1ohm with this amp, doesn't fade does work, hell it practically takes my car apart and I have it turned down even, pretty bad ass little amp if you ask me, thumbs up
i was shocked. I was prepared to post up a video of it BARELY doing the power if not a little bit less, at least in "Certified" mode - which is a HARD test. But damn, it surprised me!

I had an old RF power 500.2 about 12 years ago an that shit was slammin way back then. Way to go RF I know what my next amp will be.
He's worked hard as fuck for everything he's gotten. I've followed Steve for almost a decade online, since the mid 2000's when he was just doing comps in his Tahoe and posting funny bass vids. Now he has his own enterprise. He's not a "man of the people?" He made this video and thousands others and shares his knowledge for us! I hope to meet him someday.
You are the reason I bought a t100.1 bd to run my Fi Q15. This test reinforces the decision to go with Rockford.

yup Rockford Fosgate in my car all day. I have the Prime 2 ohm 12" s and two punch 300.1's. had my local R.F. team do the install. We talked up SMD and the shop told me that SMD products are THE BEST in the business. I don't know Steve personally, but I don't think he's a fanboy, after all these years he f***ing knows what is crap and what isn't. And since he uses RF, well, that's a no-brainer for me. PROPS and RESPECT

I matched this with Kicker’s 2021 CompR 12” 2 ohm woofer for my Camry. The speaker’s RMS is 500 watts with a peak of 1000. This combo is fuckin’ sick for a single woofer and amp setup.
I have a punch 1000x1d and I swear by it . I just bought one more and they both sound better than my sundown 3500
I'm running one of the Prime 5 Channel amps in my setup, with the Sub pushing against 2 Ohms. While I won't be winning any Competitions anytime soon, that Amp kicks and takes a beating. The Class A/B sounds better than any straight D Amp I've heard, and the D for the Sub keeps things in a smaller form factor. I don't think I'd ever use another brand of Amp thanks to this thing...

yeah i used to have a 500w prime, loved it except is was the class a/b version, so on like 100 degree days it would go into protect all the time. the d class primes are bad ass
NICE!!! I just baught the RF Prime 250x4 and the dyno sheet they provided said it made 342@4OHM. Pretty bad ass since I only spent 100 bucks on the amp. It powers my 3 inchs and tweeters and sounds awesome. Rockford Fosgate FTW!!!

Rockfords are awesome beasts. My 1000x1d is about the same size as that prime, but it weighs so heavy. Its all muscle! Instead of the fat from other amps.

Eddie, I tested a Punch 150HD a while back...plus a Phoenix Gold MS-275, Soundstream Reference 300 and Orion 275 SX. I'm gonna test LOTS more when I get my AD-1!!
I'd like to see this in comparison to the T500-1BDCP. Since on paper the output ratings are similar. To see if it's worth the extra cost over the R750-1D.
I bought one of these back in March for about $150 to run two P212s wired to 1Ohm. Picked up a second one for the same price just to have it. Considering having each one push a Fi Q 12 until I get a 2500bdcp..
Rockford fosgate ftw when I get ready to put beats in my car again I'm definitely looking at getting one of these amps cause for us blue collar working class people goes to show u don't have to spend a whole bunch of money on an amp to get over the top power from a name brand amp

I have a 500 watt rockford prime mono and its birth sheet shows 648 and its pushn 2 10" rockford punch and they sound great in my single cab truck. Nothn crazy,just clean sounding music with some bumps..

Wish we could have seen the 12V output too just to know what to expect during voltage swings or with the car off.
