Today's amp is the Hifonics Brutus Elite 1700.1D - Rated @ 1700watts RMS. I bought it specifically because i saw the CEA 2006 stamp on the side of it. I don't know the exact criteria for that testing, i just know it is supposed to mean the numbers are accurate. Either way, this amp isn't bad especially for the price.
the SMD D'Amore Engineering Amp Dyno AD-1 is about to set the standard in car audio for amplifier ratings. Does your 5000 watt amp really do 5000 watts? Whether it is car, pro, or home audio, the AD-1 AKA the Honey Badger, does not care.
Remember, the amp dyno isn't so much about your amplifier not making the power as it is WHY the amp isn't making its power. If your electrical system, or some other link in the chain is not working to its full potential, the amplifier will not either. The dyno shows any small change you make in REAL TIME.

Could you test the Hifonics BRX2000.1
two people were within 5 watts, one of those was within 2. If you don't wanna play, don't play. Every week someone gets something. For $300, on a 12 hour contest (not stretched out for a year like SOME people/manufacturers do), you gotta get it right or try again next week.
Props to you for testing amps that people would be able to afford to put into their system. I'm all for the higher end equipment, but most younger viewers couldn't afford them and some of your older viewers wouldn't want to take out a second on their house to build some of the systems you're rockin. Keep doin you Steve.
I had an 'old school' Hifonics Hercules XI that was rated at 1500w at 1 ohm...but would always go into protect mode when used at 1 ohm while playing music. Even though it would not do what it was rated to do, that amp kicked ass at 2 ohms (with my xtant 10" dvc 4 ohm speaker) and never gave me any problems. This was so much power for a 1st Gen Toyota MR2, where the volume of the cabin was barely larger than the recommended size of the speaker enclosure. LOL!
I used the “Cyclops” (100x1) back then on (1) 15” Kicker sub back when Zed Audio made them and it was an indestructible beast of an early mono amp! Those were the days…..#HiFonics#Cyclops#🔊@Crazy 8s Drums
im not too well up on any of this new hifonics stuff i stopped paying attention to them when zed audio stopped making them i used to love how clean the old school amps were the zeus , eagle , Taurus X , xxv etc nice to see a video of a later amp doing a lot of bang for its buck keep up the good work
The Hifonics “Cyclops” (100x1) I had on (1) Kicker 15” in a Honda CRX was one of my all time favorite growing up in late 80’s when Zed audio made them! Absolute beast of an early mono amp lasting over a decade and still working when I sold it and still regret that; what I’d give to still have it! Thank you for your time and energy you have put into these videos. I recently got addicted to bass and I want more. I am running a ts-w3001d2 that I happened to pick up for 80 with box and am running it underpowered with a kicker zx300.1. You saved me money by doing this test. Thank you a million.
I remember in the late 80’s when every one around me were using the punch 45 & the punch 150 I sold to get my Hifonics Cyclops (100x1) on (1) Kicker 15” I used in my Honda CRX that was so loud! It lasted for so many years, It was in the late 90’s when I sold to a friend (amp still working) and always regretted selling my Cyclops! The early Hifonics amps were so great in those days! I read all kinds of mixed reviews on HiFonics now they are cheap compared to those early days. Now in my late 40’s I still have audio with new Civic loaded up with Skar audio that I find is priced right and works perfectly for my needs! I’m older now so run (1) 10” Skar SVR DV2 in factory enclosure with a Skar RP 800 at 1 ohm doing more than to my satisfaction!#Beginnings#Hifonics#Skar#🔊

i was suprised to see this amp do well! I guessed it would only fare about as well as the Crunch 1100 maxx amp you also tested because they are both from the same parent company, Maxxsonics.
big fan on hifonics, but am gladly surprised to see the amp pass the test. I actually have the previous 1700D running two hifonics square 12s dual 2ohm, so running 1/2ohm to the amp and have never seen protect mode even pushing them to the limits. videos are always great

never said you lied, i just said i wanted to check it out! now that you say it is old, then that tells me it probably was not on the term lab mic....which would explain that crazy score. Most people lost between 6 and 10db when that mic started being used.
don't get your hopes up. a 158 is going to be pretty hard to prove on a Term Lab mic.
do you have any pics on the net or video's showing your system? i would love to see it. I am not even being a smart ass, i am being totally for real. Giving you the benefit of the doubt because honestly, if you are able to do a 158 with that equipment, that would be some pretty interesting video. It would almost be like you are an audio god or something. For most people, a 148 with that equipment would be something to talk about. Post up, i am interested bro! ready to learn!

I gotta say, when I first started watching your videos about 3-4 years ago I was thinking, "ehh just another guy with some big subs". But wow, I'm so impressed with some of the products and information that you put out. And the work you do is superb. Hope everything continues to go as well as it seems it does for you Steve.
I've heard these amps clips before they do the rated output. I bought one...fried it. I loved it so much that I upgraded to the mb quart 2000.1 and the only speakers strong enough to handle the output is subs like sundown, skar, etc. High dollar subs only. I would know. I've blown 4 just by pushing the limit of the amp to the subs. No clipping. Just pure power!
Yes, it's okay to run 6 or 8 ohm on an amp. It's when you go lower it puts stress on the amp (0.8 ohm or 0.6 ohm or lower)

I love amp test Tuesday! Glad to see Hifonics is starting to make some decent products again. I used there Brutus amps and one 12 inch Atlas subwoofer and Atlas speakers all around in my car for a budget system and it doesn't sound to bad for 400 dollars. Thanks Steve for doing a test on Hifonics.

Any chance you can test the 35th anniversary edition of this amp? Its not cea-2006 compliant but supposed to be an improved version of the one in the video.

i was pretty clear in what i said. And believe me, i have given away more stuff than ANY other car audio website or youtube channel....so "at the end of the day" if someone would have gotten the number right, they would have gotten the amp.
I meant hifonics isn't top of the line.. But that kenwood amp would give those speakers plenty of power, the cheapest one I found was like 165 bucks, but if you want an even tighter budget you could go with the Kenwood KAC-5001PS for about 100 bucks if you got it off ebay, it would push each speaker pretty decent.. Good bang for the buck, its also 2006 cea compliant.. 500 watts at 2 ohms, not bad for the price at all.. That'd be a great budget amp, wouldn't drain stock electrical too bad..

I have clamped a bxi2610 a few times. You can't find them anywhere new. Wired at .7 I got 2495w on a 44hz burp. Keep in mind I was dealing with box rise. I have meter/clamped it 6 times. Always the same numbers. Played it hard for 15 min solid and it got warm. Just warm as in not hot at all. My electrical consists of 4 batts, 2 banks of caps, and 2 ho alts. I only did it to show people that the amp is good and dependable if it's got plenty of electrical.
I picked up a bnib 2013 BRX2400.1. For what I paid for it, I feel like I got a steal! As long as my electrical is good shape, it should perform well. Thanks Steve!

Thanks for testing all these lower end amps so that the "average" guy knows what to buy if he is looking to get into car audio instead of going to a department store and just buying the amp with the biggest numbers on it. Yes.. Just means the amp sees more resistance, which in turn will give the speaker less power. Perfectly safe to do so.

Cool I got the Hifonics 1516 Brutus mono block at 1500watt...Very good amp brand new with taxes and shipping paid $233 on Amazon and it's coming today....Perfect set up for 2 pair of 12inch Kicker comp R at 2ohms.

Hifonic's amps are so good for the price, value for money wise over here buying on "eBay" direct from the US. I've ran the Zues ZRX series down to 0.7ohm (after rise) and it ran just fine, clamped them and they do their rated power aswell :).
Don't forget about mb quart! Same company...different name and cea certified. I had this same amp until I screwed up the wiring and fried the amp. Lol. Rolling with mb quart now and I am very satisfied!

timmyboy it's a great amp for the price I really do believe it hits the claimed power or at least close. I'm running at 2ohm and it barely even starts to warm up if I push it hard for an hour or so. And I have terrible electrical to the extent that if I push it to hard for to long I hit below 12v. And despite this it's been running fine so far. I did suspect I'd blown it the other day but it turns out I had a blown sub which had shorted out and the amp went into protection. Pushing 2 x 18s it gets loud better than all the cheap rubbish I've had in the past. I plan on getting 3 more when I can afford it and running them strapped in pairs. One bad thing I can say is the plastic on the ends where the mounting screws go feels very cheap but has not broken yet.
before you guys get too excited remember this is the BRe model of hifonics the top of the line ZRX and the BRZ I doubt would do these numbers

this was a good choice of amp. If you have time id love to see if my old amp the brz1700.1 or any of the BRZ hifonics amps are really hitting what is claimed (also 2006 cea compliant)
Fuse rating and output was spot on 2 70 amp fuses 140 total x 10 1400 watts but it did good at burst
Thanks for test the lower end amps as well as the higher end. And for the people that only want to see expensive amps tested I say that's stupid. We all know the sundown will do at least rated. Same as a kicker or jl or dc. I wanna see if there is a good budget amp out there.

One of the very few Amps that I actually trust i have been a big fan and a customer of hifonics for a long time! And i have never have problems or an issue with them.. the other 3 budget amps that I also trust are the SSL and precision technique and definitely the Skar I was actually very surprised that Skar actually put out what it says it do!! Anything else its a big Fat No..
Matching brands is the best thing that you can do, you don't have to though just to let you know.. I recommend the Kenwood KAC-9105D to power it, when they test their products, they test them with their own amps.. So at a 2 ohm load you would get 900 rms out of the amp, which by the way is 2006 cea compliant.. So based off the test that steve did, you would actually get very close to 400 rms to each speaker out of your amp, which isn't top of the line brand, like hifonics..Should be comparable..

I just got my brx1616.4 its 200w x4 @ 4 ohms its too much power for my kenwood excelon 6x9s and i could still turn the gain up another third but it is horrendously loud, post ear ringing type

Well yeah buti dont have a DD-1 so i have to kind of set it by ear, and back it off a bit to be safe, can you tell me where i could buy a used or returned DD-1? I thought i remembered you talking about that in a video, but you have a lot!!! But i can spend hours watching your videos, its a bummer when i watch them all and have to wait for the next one lol

Back in the day, they used to be pretty good amps. My dad had them in his Cadillac and would win competitions and was featured in a magazine, but I can't speak on the newer stuff, I hear the quality dropped over the years and I agree, it'd be nice to set the story straight. If I were Lanzar I'd send Steve an amp for free just to test. It'd pay for itself if their shit is any good.
