- Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry initially released as a DLC to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and eventually released as it's own standalone game as well. Believe it or not I never played Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry before so I was very curious and excited to try the game for the first time in 2022. So whether you were like me and wondering if you should buy the game in 2022 or you've already played it and want to know my opinions on it this is the video for you! I wish Freedom Cry was it’s own game with a longer story and as a proper sequel to Black Flag. It’s such an underrated story.
literly black flag was peak assasins creed game They made it perfect , Someone in the Assasin creed bloodline who is just a random may it be native american or Detective this truly felt like an pirate made assasin And the charachters was so well made its insane

Nah not for these forgettable characters Edward didnt get one so why should they i feel as if it would be disrespectful to make a sequel for those assassins when so many main game assassins didnt get one
I remember playing Freedom Cry and absolutely loving it because it was essentially an extension of BlackFlag but with some cooler weapons and new character development.
The soundtrack, specially the battle ones, is just beautiful
Freedom Cry had some interesting story, at least. Slavery was a heavy subject throughout history, and make the DLC amazing. Gameplay, gets a little tedious and boring REAL quick, though! After hours and hours, whatever you'd freed some slaves in land and sea, more are spawning left and right, which like you said makes it repetitive! And like you said, it would be awesome if this game had the Brotherhood systems, using the freed slaves as your Assassins. And I agree with the open world. Very limited, nothing to do than boarding ships, hunting, freeing more slaves, and that's it! At least the stealth section is a little better in this DLC for me. Not the best, nor the worst, JUST tedious. At least no superpowers like with the Tyranny of King Washington

Edit: Still, I guess I should add that I agree with all your criticisms.
In my opinion, Freedom Cry is an extremely underrated experience. Yes, it's extremely similar to Black Flag and has less world building, but I think getting to see Adewale really connect with a core issue from his past and learn to be able to put aside his emotional connections to cause the best outcome was great. I loved the new machete + blunderbuss addition too. This was one of my first AC games and definitely still holds a special place in my heart
I really enjoyed Freedom Cry and like every other Assassins Creed (except Odyssey and Valhalla) it’s one of my favorites, because of the two unique weapons (the Machete and Blunderbuss) that makes Adewale different and he’s a cool character to learn more about and then fact he became an Assassin that we play as is awesome I just wish it got a bigger map and outfits, but other than that it’s great.

The problem with the modern-day is Ubisoft's lack of focus, not that it exists. Remember when there was an actual purpose and story in the modern-day? Only Valhalla has moved it forward since AC3 and we still don't even know where it's going or why it's significant anymore.
I love how everyone shits on Modern Day when meanwhile i want an AC game set in Modern Day and go to the past a few times,the reverse essentially.
@@newhybrid101 Watch_Dogs Legion proved that was possible, all we need now is improved stealth (Shadow of the Tomb Raider has better stealth than Assassin's Creed now) and improved parkour and we'd be set.
desmond's modern day plot was good, especially in AC3
I've always thought that the franchise would work better with Assassin's Creed only really focused on the Animus sections while the Modern Day sections would've been better set up for a Watch Dogs game. Especially if the theory about Far Cry, AC, and Watch_Dogs being in the same universe is correct.

I gotta be one of the very few people who for some weird reason played this game BEFORE Black Flag, and i remember it actually made playing Black Flag so much cooler !
p.s. Freedom Cry was on sale for 5€ and i got it to try out the AC franchise, then I got Black Flag as my first main AC title.
After that I bought all the previous ones and it all made sense ;)

I remembering loving freedom cry when it came out. It's short, but I liked that then. I spent a ton of time on black flag, it was so big and immersive. So I think if you've never played freedom cry, try it. If you have, you know what to expect lol

I wish more work would have been put in to make this game its own instead of just a dlc. Adewale is a great character but he's not given enough time for development. his story should have gone longer till we had seen him become a master assassin and mentor to the creed

I bought ACFC since I know large part of the story is set in Haiti, which not many games portrays. I know in Black Flag there is Tortuga but that's it, also it is quite interesting to see how Ade's story continues
I bought it because it was on sale for a few dollars and I want to own all of the ac games. Well apart from the crappy psp ds or mobile games. I also probably won’t get the 2d platform ac games.
Just finished the game an hour ago. I agree with everything single thing you said. I loved Adewale, but I was sad that there was little to no customization, I wish ubi had give Ubi Quebec better tools to make the game.

The buildings are too far to each other so tailing missions are pretty hard especially if the npc on the roof can detect you from a mile away.

Ade was one of my favourite characters. In fact, I liked him so much I never finished Rogue cause I didn't want to see him die. Silly I know but what can I say? I had an attachment.

I had a blast playing Freedom Cry, aside from story I really like how condense the game was and this is how much content is in current games but bloated it up to 60hrs for us to grind to get to fun part.
Must admit I've never played this.Imagine an Adewale and Connor co-op game and the blunderbuss remind's me of the gun from Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare

So ive been following the assassins creed series for a long time now ive play all of the games including the psp and vita games up until odyssey and the following. When it Came to AC Freedom cry I personally loved the story even though it was short lived. Adéwalé
was a great character in my opinion it fleshed him out much more and if you played AC black flag you would see how much of a character he is showing intelligence and showing a sense of duty when it came to freeing the slaves I do believe that you should also consider him as well as Aveline de Grandpré in your videos because they are Assassins in there own right and have many skills and tactics. I would recommend this game to anyone whom is an Assassin's creed fan the game does have many fun moments the sound track is fantastic in my eyes and it gives a decent story for the short amount of time it does provide. I maybe biased when it comes to the older generations of AC games but i still think its worth playing id give it a 4/5 due to mostly how short it is and how it left me wanting more.

This is so weird I'm currently playing AC black flag. I owned an Xbox 360 long ago, I played all the way up to 3. AC was my favourite game (especially the Ezio saga), however life got involved I didn't have time to game anymore. So I just bought legendary pack. After I platinumed ER I moved on and man do I miss these games

Freedom Cry Should have had some side missions like Dead Kings and it should have allowed you to unlock some new weapons like in AC Unity when you play Dead Kings you get the Guillotine Gun. At least then it would have had more purpose and content as a expansion/standalone game.
Liberation was developed as a stand alone game for the Vita rather than DLC, so it’s not surprising it’s a longer story than Freedom Cry. Freedom Cry is definitely a better time than the Aveline DLC as far as Black Flag extra material goes.

This deserved to be a bigger game and AC liberation deserves a proper remake instead of a coat of paint on what still felt like a PSvita game. Like these games felt like what assassins creed should follow.
Haitian revolution game is a must. Maybe it can implement the idea of helping slaves and then having rebels assist you in maybe raids or forts or something (like what was hinted in that ac3 fort demo. Like having soldiers distracted by battle to make infiltration easier)

I don’t know if it was patched or something, but how did you get this to work on pc? I bought Black Flag and the Season Pass on Steam about a year or two ago and I have never gotten the Season Pass content to show up in game even though the files were there and customer support couldn’t help.

Does anyone remember when Edward sayd to Adéwale "Spoken like a true Welshman Ade!" just after Adéwalé sayd his plan abaut plundering British Navy, ... made me chuckle every time I played AC IV BF and I played that game 67 times from the start to the end.
When it comes to AC Freedom Cry I love the game as much as AC IV BF, and the soundtrack is so beautiful and even sad at times.

I think this is the best dlc story in the franchise. Not to mention Ubisoft always has 25-75% sales what seems like every week it’s hard to say it isn’t worth it

Freedom cry was really short, i didn't like the game, but i liked that one mission were the ship sunk.
I’m trying to play Freedom Cry and it won’t let me, I purchased it from the in game store on my Xbox 360, but now it won’t let me load it up. I have the other stuff that it came with but it just won’t let me play the dlc. Do I have to complete the main story first and try it? Please help because I would really like to play this DLC.
