- How’s it going everyone and welcome to a new series of mine “Who’s the better Assassin”. It’s a pretty simple concept. I'll be taking two Assassins from the Assassin's Creed series and comparing them on their skills, strength, intelligence, etc… and determine which one is a better Assassin. Which character is more useful to the Brotherhood and for the first matchup we are going to be doing Connor Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3 versus his grandfather Edward Kenway from Assassin's Creed Black Flag. And keep in mind this is still going to be based on my opinion so I wanna hear who you guys think the better Assassin is in the comments and who’d you rather have as part of the brotherhood. I prefer Edwards character and journey but I think Connor’s superior physique in tandem with his combat skills and experience with a vast amount of weapons puts him higher than Edward as a assassin
I honestly vote for Edward physically too , he literally managed sharks underwater with bare hands and no armour , which i honestly think needs more physical strength and endurance. And he has the sailor hands which helps. And weaponry wise , Edward can pretty much use everything Connor can and he can also use 4 flintlock pistols which is something extra
Still Edward is more experienced than him since he took down the British navy and army(Spanish too)and he’s more skilled than him since he uses two swords and not to mention he took down five legendary ships

Rather than Assassins, maybe you should put Haytham and Shay in a match. They're both amazing and very skilled Templars, and I think a video on that would be great.

Connor for sure! He is one of the strongest assassins there ever was and he basically rebuilt the whole Assassin brotherhood after Shay demolished it.

@@ihshaan5001 I think altair is the most powerful all together because he's smart he becomes the leader of the entire assasin organization and he has excellent fighting skills maybe not as much of a powerhouse as conner but all together he is just more powerful

Connor for sure, he not only took down the Colonial Templars but also rebuilt the Colonial Assassins. He wasn't killed by Templars either. He died at the Davenport manor after he got pretty old
Actually he died alone in his own house after his wife left him. And Edward took down British templars in London(A LOT of templars)and he’s the most skilled swordsman in the ac universe(second to Altair)

I prefer Connor for his brutality but edwards story is so much better he lost all of his mates and decided to better himself put all his greed aside for a better cause.

I love Edward as a character and Pirate, but Connor is definitely the better Assassin.

@@ajax3748 exactly. If we had flashbacks playing as Edward in London during Syndicate, that would have been very interesting and definitely provided more info on how he was as an Assassin after his time in the Caribbean.

While I love Edward, I'm gonna have to agree with this. I'd like to see Arno vs the Frye twins after this... Im since the Frye twins separately, don't really stand a chance so it's only fair that they are categorized together
If Arno is wielding the sword of eden he smacks both. If not, I'd say the twins win because of greater numbers and better technology at the ready (revolvers).

@@theazureknight9399 Not really since the sword was broken at the end if you read it. It's just a very sharp and hard, normal sword at the end of the game when he gets it.
Evie is the only twin that will give Arno a run for his money. Jacob on the other hand, he'd completely throw off guard and use stealth to take him out. Arno is FAR superior to Jacob at stealth.

Imagine the smile on Edward’s face if he learnt that his Grandson not only restored the Brotherhood in America and took down the Templars, but first and foremost the love Connor started taking for naval expedition and travels.

Connor was trained and instructed at a young age,and he didn't disappoint with his feats and accomplishments. Edward stumbled into it just like how a pirate sometimes stumble on to loot. He landed on that path by chance and still managed to maneuver during a harsh pirate era,how he got that good and his background are a mystery compared to Connor
Sadly, yeah. There is just not enough on Edward and what he did when he joined the British Brotherhood. All we know is that he brought 'stability' to it. But what did he have to do to even enter them in the first place? We get more on Connor post-game form other entries than Edward.
Would be interesting to hear about that part as a DLC of Syndicate perhaps, always nice to have some redemption stories

In a straight fight, no one could beat Connor, not any assassin from the series.
I do think that a lot of people hated ac3 back then , i just don't know why......literally , i would not say it was 'the best ' ac game but the animations(especially the combos) , so much improved parkour and the tone itself....i loved it "sorry ezio " :)
I know what you mean. I think it was just the drastic change in setting that through people off, and the end of Desmond. I love the history of the American Revolution and I definitely enjoyed AC3 and Connor's stoic attitude, which was completely different from Ezio.
Assassin's creed 3 is one of my favorite games

I genuinely thought this was going to be a video being biased about Edward but I was proven wrong. And I also agree with all the points made. Next I think you should compare Ezio and Altair or Connor and Bayek

Connor also led the patriots to many victories against the the greatest military ever seen at the time. That takes a lot of skill and tactician knowledge.

Edward was a very good Assassin but Connor, Ezio and Altair are in a league of their own. They were "The Assassins" of their generation and rebuilt the order almost from scratch and in the case of Altair he restructured the order and set them on the right path.
You underestimate Edward like all the others.
Connor is without a doubt a better assassin. He wasn't trained until he 2as older but his skills with hunting, tracking, h2h combat growing up definitely put him at a huge advantage over the others
Well I agree with it.....when I played ac 3 after that I played black flag then I understood that Connor felt different.....I felt more strengthen while playing with Connor it was like I am gonna win over an army by myself
Connor... He singlehandedly rebuild the Colonial Assassins, saved the future first President, and even did things for other Assassins across the world like Aveline from the New Orleans branch and is hinted to have helped the French Brotherhood after AC 3.
I'm pretty sure that Edward became like a co - mentor along with Miko (the guy that Haytham Assassinates at the start of AC3)
Connor been the best assassin since his game came out back in the day

I agree with this video. Connor is super underrated, and is one of the best of the assassins ever talked about.
Connor has always been my favorite, which is mainly because assassins creed III was my first game. He’s the best.
Edward’s character flaws cost him so much, and ultimately in the end his life. He didn’t always appreciate the allies he had and could put trust in those who used him as a means to an end. Connor was the reverse, bringing together what truly mattered most to him with the Davenport Homestead Community, bringing people in. Their personalities are contrasts that represent this. Edward is extroverted, often saying what’s on his mind plenty of times at his own expense. Connor is far more measured in how he acts, choosing his words even though his grandfather’s temper can come out at times.
Despite his brash nature Edward does have moments where he’s more insightful than he lets on. He knows Adewale is the more qualified captain, but that the crew is too racist to share this view. He trusts Mary Read, who does more than anyone else to help him see his true potential through the mist of his ambitions. He’s no idiot, but acts too much like one for his good.
Strength-Connor(Combat for AC4 was intentionally nerfed,its obvious ny comparing their feats that Connor is far stronger)
Experience-Connor(Trained since he was a child and was fully capable at 13,Edward started being trained by Blackbeard in his 20s)
Combat Speed-Connor(Same feats but Connor is dealing with more advanced firearms being fired at him,you can also tell he moves faster.
Again AC4 engine is more grounded)

I prefer Connor hands down. He was born and raised in harsh brutal conditions, grew up providing for his tribe and it was obvious throughout AC III. Hunting, climbing and free running came naturally to him and on top of that he he got the Assassin's training. How quickly i could BLITZ dozens of enemies with him was insane. And playing with him i just got a sense and feeling i only had with Ezio, something i haven't experienced ever again with any of the other Assassins. Plus he rebuilt the Brotherhood. So to me Connor is really the last true Assassin.
He rebuilt the colonial brother hood and not the assasins brotherhood,it's a mistake that alot of people make.
I'm really wishing for them to retcon Edward's death in forsaken because it was written before they thought of AC4.

Expected this to swing more towards Edward for his popularity and his game. Glad to see some people looking at it more analytically.
And even though I'd rather like to see Edward win, Connor does have a solid upper hand, being taught the ways of the assassins and having to use his abilities to essentially become the vanguard of the brotherhood against all odds in colonial America.
Edward never had these stakes, and the only real thing you could give him is that overall he is a much more flexible combatant than Connor environment wise (being toned for both seafaring and land-based combat, whereas Connor is definitely more land-based combatant only). Needless to say, a fight between these two would definitely be a brutal bloodfest, since these two fight completely different from the assassin mentality, being more brute force rather than stealth.
I am gonna have to say Connor is better for puree strength and Edward for cunning and stealth. Connor was built like a literal tank so had no need to be stealthy. He just charged in there.
Lovin' the Connor love! I really liked how you mentioned that he grew too at the end of the game. A lot of people tend to argue that. Both of these characters definitely did. "If you're gonna take Connor down, you need a whole army" XD. I think it's safe to say that the Kenways are not to be trifled with. After all, they are Altair and Ezio's descendants. :D
I always see Conor as just an absolute physical phenom in comparison to other Assassin.

Everything you said I agree with the only thing is I wish the video was longer I had snacks on hand with me so i really wanted to just watch for awhile. Connor learned alot from Achilles who knew alot being in the company of famous Assassin's and Templars which Connor inherits i wish there was a sequel to AC III called AC V or something then AC Unity a POLISHED AND WELL WRITTEN AND AMBITIOUS ONE😢😤😔
Its cool cause technically both connor and edward are from the same line of mentors for the assassins . Though i admit edward has was less training actually shown he was inducted into the order by ah tabai or at the very least introduced to it by him and his brother hood . Connor was trained by achilles who was the last recruit every selected and trained by ah tabai before he passed in the west indies

I really love the final scene in ac black flag where Edward sees his dead comrades. Edwards story was really good. Sadly connor is definitely stronger than Edward

Iirc, Connor does start rebuilding the Colonial assassins in the game through the Liberation missions and mentoring those he meets through those
Connor by far is best assassin when it comes to fighting and combat training beside he knew how to kill at the age of 13 and was able to destroy a man o war by himself not mention having one of most unique pair of hidden blades

Yes a native American story an he's following his grandfather footstep and he became the better assassin but they never make a sequal of him with better ending and even where he went after that where he's gone nothing we know Connor Kenway was the end of the Kenway line ah never able to find out how he died and where he's gone

One statement I feel is wrong is the end one where Edward wasn't trained by the assassins where as Connor was which means Edward already had the skills where as Connor didn't Edward trained himself whereas Connor had Achilles train him
Yeah but Connor also crunched all that knowledge in a very short time and learned more on the field by himself.
Connor also had skills before being an assassin though as well. He was raised in a native American tribe who didn't have then modern technology. From his birth he was raised to be a efficient, clean, and disciplined hunter which greatly impacted his initial skill as an assassin. Native Americans were also extremely skilled, and ruthless warriors.
Connor literally beat up like 7 guys outside of the Homestead when he was just a 13 year old. Ezio would've gotten his ass kicked, although I think Edward would've managed it.

I just want to mention something out subject. I just realized Alexios 's assassin outfit was in ac3, and the description mentioned him as a hero of Greek. Obviously Kassandra is an afterthought or something. But anyways connor is Obviously stronger in almost every single way possible. Plus being trained by Achilles makes him twice better

Conner has another massive advantage, his hunting skills, stealth is useless to many of the his opponents
Connor looks at branches, located and locked on his target.
Connor trained as an assassin and in the assassin's ways for as long as he can remember and took down the entire templar order in the colonies on his own, Edward is a skilled fighter and a proficient assassin of course but his abilities are incomparable to that of Conor.
Edward is and will always be my favorite, character wise. His development and story is my favorite out of everyone but Connor is and will always be the better Assassin.

tbh, I feel that Edwards story was cut short by it ending when he left the America's to go back to England. I would have really enjoyed a part 2 to Black Flag where we saw what he did to strengthen and organize the brotherhood both in England and across Europe. We are left only a few tantalizing clues found during Syndicate. These clues show that he rose considerably in the estimation of his fellow members and the fact that he left a functional brotherhood in spite of his untimely death should not be ignored. However, you are correct about Conner quite possibly being the strongest and most dangerous in a fight among all the assassin's. Good vid
Edward was never trained but killed a expert assassin and Edward also trained during the story mode and he took down forts which makes him equally strong with Connor your just using your own opinion and saying Connor is better and you barely talk about Edward so the real winner is none there both equally strong

I think Connor would beat Edward in a 1v1, but Edward is a better assassin bc of his intellect and tactics. Also he would have more to offer

Note: Connor actually did become the American mentor, and Edward became the English mentor (source via books/comics/mentions/ etc)
We don’t know much about what Connor did, but it’s stated that Edward brought the English assassins to the height of their power bc he had influence in the criminal underworld and the rich
This is how he was betrayed and died, he got close to the Templar grandmaster without realizing it
Imo, Connor is a lot more powerful than Edward, though not really intelligent but still his muscle makes up for it

That's fair, i was kinda salty at first because edward is my favorite AC protagonist but he's probubly one of the least impressive as an actual assassin, the gold that is black flag comes from the story and character behind it. Connor is amazing though and people do NOT credit him enough for how much he had going against him, as corny as it is it kinda made me proud when he got to be the native american assassin, it makes me feel cooler :)
They should have made Edward a way better ending. I understand the Templars were powerful and also he was in a bad situation, but to go from clearing decks of ships with ease to that is dumb. Could have made him live to 70 but they needed him to be dead for AC 3.

Edward died because he was distracted by Haythem at the time of ambush, not because he couldn't.
Ezio got distracted by Altair's visions in the starting of Revelations. He lost one of his blades and could be killed. So, these legendary assassin's aren't legendary for no reason.
Skill, speed, cunning, and agility goes to Edward and I’d say obviously Conor wins in strength, toughness, and skill in weapon versatility goes to Conor id day Conor wins 7/10 really depends on the situation
I’m sorry what in terms of stealth I will give you Connor is better but all he does in terms of fighting is manning a few canons and occasionally sneaking around a giant army compare that Edward killing entire ships single handily or taking over ever fort in the Caribbean and Connor stands no chance in a 1 on 1 non stealth fight you have to remember Edward also had far worse technology and he didn’t have a piece of jewelry that deflected all bullets toward your enemies this is an outrage
Connor I beat assassin's Creed3 and he can beat bears cougars every animal build a village and find the treasure of Captain kidd and in the dlc trynnay of greoge Washington greoge Washington has the apple and Connor survived basically every hit so Connor 100 persent wins
Connor is the way better assassin he can take out an army whereas Edward can only clear the deck of a ship
Both were great combatants and pretty deadly tbh, Edward worked as a privateer for a very long time before getting Jackdaw and settling in as the captain. He travelled to many unknown lands, even lost his ship once, my point is if you weren't capable, you wouldn't have made it in the sea anyway. And then there's Connor, who had the mentality of a hunter, in that sense he reminds me of Bayek, both of them had amazing strength and speed. Connor is to me the strongest Assassin in terms of physicality, whereas Edward was like a survivor, he always found a way out of a messy situation. Also, Connor was much more emotional and kind compared to Edward and Haytham.

In the end of Rogue, Your final target says "Connor and his assassin's undid your business in America" So it's pretty safe to assume He became a mentor

Connor should have been in Unity if only to bring some unity and perspective to the French Brotherhood. The Colonial Brotherhood was a good example of what happens when people don’t communicate, as lack of communication caused Shay’s defection and brought them to the brink of extinction before Connor pulled it back.
This makes me sad that Connor didn't get to know (much?) about his grandpa. I think the only direct reference is in the DLC where he says "my grandfather was a pirate" when sailing..? Obviously it couldn't be helped since I'm sure the idea of Edward hadn't even been come up with by the game designers at that point, but I wish we could've seen him learning about his ancestry. eg Achilles gives him letters from Adéwalé mentioning him. Oh well. Maybe in a re-remaster lol
Connor wasn't that old when AC 3 ended, he still had plenty of time to learn more about Edward, and Assassins usually keep records of their most accomplished members with the exception of Bayek (he destroyed all evidence of his existence) so he could still learn about Edward's life.

I literally completed ac 3 few days back and now playing ac 4..... personally i prefer conor over any other ac gane only if it were to combats..........but edward has a classy personality.....which is likable
Connor is probably the strongest assassin and he is extremely skilled being alone in America and taking it all under his control but i think Edward got really downplayed by you and the game. Edward deserved another game and i definitely think Edward was alot alot deadly and better in combat probably the best u can literally see it in the game he is such a god in it. Edwards story was unique and becoming an assassin so late he deserved another game and in the end connor is his blood and connor also is so physically strong cuz of growing up in the wild

I've played ac3 for a while and i did not know connor was 13 when he left his village, i honestly thought he would be 17 or 18 when he left
I prefer Edward by a long shot but I think that is just me.

Connor feels overrated. Yeah he's athletic, but achilles' lack of skill bogged him down hard. You could even argue that connor's supposedly combat edge of brutality is a sign of his lack of skill. That's why haythem always had the upper hand on him.
Short pause Connors run onto BEF-"red coats" would die in 1st ~100yards(isn't agile love bull 🤣) and Edward can parkour and be ASSASSINS on ship fights

Same was with military, small but ruthless and constant training (try to find "Shaka Zulu" 2 part movie from '80ies or just look what happened)
Connor wasn't training with assassins but Indians (HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! Spend few hours with 2nd-Ezio, basically ninjas in Europe. Crowded,smells... vs open land with woods to dissappear not jump on branches
