Hey pat, how come you forgot to mention despite it's bigger size, toyota did not put individual rear ac vents, particularly with this model against the previous gl grandia. We need that here in our country.

Wait up, GL grandia has 176HP and 450NM, the Commuter Deluxe gets the 176 hp 420NM, and The GL Tourer gets 163Hp 420Nm.(my reaction... its about damn time Toyota!)
My take on this cake is it's safer since it now has a bonnet unlike the previous gens cab over setup. Also the interior looks warm and welcoming due to the choice of colors, though it will be a dirt magnet especially on some areas where parts of your body would normally come in contact with.
The only gripe that i personally would say on this variant is it no longer has the individual AC vents unlike on the previous gen GL Grandia. When it was launched a few weeks ago. I was thinking maybe it's because its just the pre production models are shown(which is weird) on that event. Then I saw this and the one displayed in MOA, oddly enough the vents are gone. Well Toyota did say the AC is better in this generation so lets hope it comes out satisfactory even with lesser vents(summer is just around the corner). The front suspension is now McPherson Struts(wohoo no longer under the ass), so definitely would be a little bit comfy, and the rear has extended leafs, now hopefully the ride this time would be less bouncy on the rear.
But it's not durable for chassis frame is gone and not safe for front impact also.although there is a bonnet but no chassis.

excellent review job well done,i am from Barbados and i have the nissan nv350 commuter for tourist transport and toyota destroy nissan one time, nissan was a complete disappointment to compare with the old generation hiace it will be interesting to see what they come with to compete with the new hiace.but nice job want to see you review the hiace commuter next the high roof model

My biggest criticism of the new Hi Ace is that regardless of which variant you buy, there is no escaping the fact that the interior has a cheap look and feel to it. Not knocking its mechanicals or drivetrain though, which I am sure are quite good.
In Thailand, it’s Toyota Commuter (Hiace Commuter) and Commuter Luxury (Hiace Grandia).
In Taiwan, it’s Toyota Granvia.

Very nice van, so light..just like driving an altis..0 to 100kph very fast.
Eto talaga gusto ko pag sa Toyota na Van. Buti na lang mayrong AT cla na unit.
Downside lang ng gl ngayon wala na syang individual aircon vents sa rear cabin, yung tourer lang ang meron. Sana sa mga susunod na taon isama nila ang mga vents sa upgrades.
You need to add more wide angle shots for people to get a better feel of the vehicle as a whole.
Better if it has air vents particularly on the last 2 rows (replace those mounted speakers on the ceiling with airvents na lang sana) 😅mainit dito sa atin sa Pinas☺️
Guess this was designed to make a step in the USA market, the 6speed forward manual is welcome 👍🇯🇲

The one you brought or the previous grandia is much better than that as I think because of the A/c vents or blowers all around the cabin. Also I would rather choose 3 seats in the front rather than that big storage in the middle but it is a really nice face lift van bawi sa design interior and exterior,nvh,no more engine heat under feels for the 1st row passengers and driver and more space and leg room the. The deal breaker was just really the ac vents wish Toyota added those vents for more passenger comfort mainit dito sa Pinas.

I wish Toyota would import this van from Mexico, the way RAM imports the Fiat Ducuto (RAM Promaster in the US). RAM imported the Ducuto through its Mexican plant under NAFTA to escape the "chicken tax". Toyota should to the same to bring this into the US market.
No individual A/C vents at the back....kaya kahit mas luma yung mga NV350, mas tinatangkilik parin dahil naiintindihan ni Nissan ang no.1 na needs ng mga passengers, and that's airconditioning.

Bakit hindi naka-on yung parking light? Diba dapat naka-on na yon pag naka-on ang low beam headlight? Yung DRLs kusa nag-oon pag start ng engine, pero hindi siya yung parking light.

Sir Patrick did you hear any issue regarding the aircon vents? it seems if it is only located in the middle (for the back) it might not be powerful to ventilate the entire back portion of the van
