Very good Kyle. You might consider using a hose clamp to secure the loops,etc. in lieu of the cord wrap. Probably more secure than rope held with hot glue. 73, Marc, W4MPS
So the hot glue is only to secure them while I wrap the rope around. The friction from the rope wraps is what holds the guy loops.
Plus hose clamps are top bulky

When I think of Carrot Top all I can picture is what he use to look like and what he looks like now.
I used a similar method for a 10 m sota beams mast.
The three loops I have coming out the top of the wrap instead and I put stopper knots on the ends so they wouldn't pull through the paracord wrap.
The guy ropes are paracord with an s-biner to hook to the loops and taughtline hitch loop on the other end with a hook in to very simple tent stakes.
Even though it's only guide 3 ft up I've had it up for 6 months holding the middle of a 40 m efhw And it survived 65 mph winds without knocking over

No beating the look of a cord wrapped mast. Nice of Gigaparts to make that cap dirt colored with a pattern. Secured cap is a must with that mast. Nicely done.
Now that you said something, why didn't they make the cap construction orange!
@@AA0Z not sure why the whole thing isn’t bright orange TBH. At least the bottom outer section. The whole thing is going to disappear In anything longer than cut grass.

Nice work Kyle. Have you ever looked up whipping thread methods? It allows for knot free ends. I’ve done that to end fed antenna projects to add cordage. Fly tiers for fly fishing use whipping to make flies.
Just learned about it from someone commenting on this video. I should now do a follow up video! Lol.
An idea.. Next time try using a whipping knot for the wraps. Same whipping as used for axe handle wraps or at the end of a rope.

LOL! I hate hot glue guns. That glue gets everywhere and there really isn't a way you can "place" it in the correct location. It just blobs....I found a spiderweb of glue in my ear after this video....
So many viable ways to guy a mast. Another perspective always helps.
I guess today was guy mast video release day. Totally unplanned.
The only item to add would be to coat the windings with Liquid Wood to seal the wrapping from the elements.

Funny story, I think people who had YT channels purchased all of them during Hamvention. It was Sat morning and the call went out Gigaparts had them there at the show and we all rushed over to get one. A few came over later in the afternoon and they were gone. Not sure why they only had 20 or so with them and didn't have a shipment already at the Huntsville store. I'm not in those conversations....

I wonder how the durability of the Explorer20 will be compared to Goture fishing poles that I keep breaking to tops off. Fortunately, I can improvise on a peak with no trees. I will have to get on the wait list.
This mask is very strong!
I have used a similar solution with my aliexpress 7.2m fiberglass poles. Only difference is that I add Nite Ize mini figure 9’s to the loop and I use 5 min epoxy instead of hot glue.
Hot glue is just to secure the loops while the friction of the rope windings is what actually holds them in place.
100% correct, this style attachment has worked very well even on extremely windy summits where the last mast is bent to nearly 90° but the guying has been solid.
