    Amazing! I'm still stressed about actually sending the code and I can feel it vicariously even tho you look pretty chilled about it. It's good to see people can make mistakes and slow down and keep going, something to think about for me :D thanks for the video!

      Thanks, mistakes happen. Though I’m getting better after 4 months now. Good luck on your cw!

      I'm so worried I'm going to get hung up, or misspell something and accidentally say something I didnt mean through acronyms or something... what sat up have you been using to learn? I got the app on my phone, but I've got a trainer coming, that I can plug a paddle into. It's one thing identifying the letters through a quiz on an app, it's a completely different thing to actually type out and transmit...

      Hello - The best method/way to become proficient at CW is to use the Koch method. That's how I was taught Morse when studying to be Marconi wireless op. The Koch method is sending the characters at a faster speed 18wpm rather than the Farnsworth method which is sending the characters slowly where you count the dots-n-dashes. With the Koch method you learn to recognise the characters and *not* count the dots-n-dashes.
      When sending for the first time write out on a piece of paper long-ish words it can be of help. 73 and always send QRS if you meet a speed freak . ⚓

    Nice video and CW. You have a good FIST. I still use an pump key and also my trusty Vibroplex. Its great to hear an actual QSO on CW. 73

      I have a few pumps I have to test out. Nice to get the hang on that as well and I’m allways keeping my eyes open for a vibroplex bug. Would be fun to test and have in my collection.

    Very nice! Thanks fer sharing. How do u create the decoded morse text in the video? Is this automated, or manual inserted? If it is manual typed by u, my honest respect fer this wrk. vy 73

    Keep at LB8ij, you are doing beautifully well. brings me back to 1975. amazing, this was only 16 wpm rate? I guess the spacing is far apart. When I was first licensed in 1975 finding this wpm QSO and much slower than 16 wpm was common place on the HF bands. I would visit the novice bands often to QSO with Novices. it was so long ago I forgot how slow was slow. edit/ adding. Slow to me was 5 wpm. there were plenty of hams sending under 10 wpm, in the late 70's when I was active.

    • @LB8IJ
      @LB8IJ  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, most are quicker these days. It only adds to the callange getting on the air. There are some initiatives on fb that aranges slower qsos and allaso calling cq at slower speed, the oter stations do slow down to answer, so there is hope for those learning.

    Great video, thank you for sharing! I'm learning CW right now, and am still very very slow. What you're doing seems really great for just 18 days on air using CW! How much did you do during those 18 days? And how long did you practice before your first QSO?

    • @LB8IJ
      @LB8IJ  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was QSO nr 83 on CW. Mostly hunting pota and sota but some regular qsos. I practiced intensly (about 15-60min a day) for about 3 months before my first qso 30. october 2023. It takes time and dedication, but if you keep at it you will get there. Looking forward to having a cw qso with you!

      Thank you for the reply. You made me realize that I need to work on speed consistency. Some letters I code faster, others slower - all of your letters were smooth and even. Thanks again, -73

      I guess you Are using straight key? I think it hjelps using a electronic keyer as well to learn and feel the rythm of the chars. I do a bit of both but mostly electronic

    How did you decode cw for the channel

    • @LB8IJ
      @LB8IJ  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Some timeconsuming manual labour. tiles witch change for each letter

    • @EI6DP
      @EI6DP 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use my internal decoder for CW 🥸 my brain. CW like any other language once learned you never forget. I don't use an electronic decoder of any kind. Been operating CW for 40+ years now and still love it. My CW key is an original Vibroplex mechanical nuts-n-bolts key. 73
