This is my birthday! I'm so happy that FlexRadio and Michael will give me all their new stuff on my birthday. I can't wait for the FlexRadio FluxCapacitor's release!!
The launch should have been a bright red silk curtain covering an 80" 4K OLED monitor... Drum roll please BAMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The new SMART SDR 4.0 with a whole new look and the 8XXX radio. Then the Flex guy clicks the mouse and the new adaptive pre-distortion TWO TONE makes the correction in the third order at -62 and everyone at Dayton would go WOW!!! From what I see so far with this new product launch every potential new feature being introduced for the 8xxx series seems based on future software coding for it to work. At this point, it’s Vaporware until the firmware/software catches up with the new proposed hardware in August 2025...
I,m an sdr user but not flex but always interested what companies are doing in the sdr world, the 8400 seems a great addition,. I guess the comment which Mike made saying, changes to software will not be implemented un less we can make money out of them, Hmm, let's hope he meant certain ideas for features they think will not help sell the radio because some people will not find them of interest, who knows?. Anyways I'm sure the new radio will create a lot of interest.
I've had a 6400 for a couple years now and just got the Apache labs g2 a couple months ago Flex has its place but man they have a long way to go especially the software side of things get out of the software side of the business and let the open source guys do there thing could be so much better
Do you think there are developers in the Linux community who would help with developing a Linux version of Smart SDR? The Windows Flex API and protocols are all open.
This will fundamentally change ham radio forever. Flex has just caused a paradigm shift that will change the way we enjoy our hobby. What a time to be alive!
Well, it's always an ANAN guy because it's ALWAYS a Flex guy that acts the exact same way on social media. With that being said, my apologies if you were being sarcastic. I t sounded exactly like some other comments I've seen over the years. Lastly, it's funny you said, "It's always an ANAN guy," because I almost never make comments that knock another radio while boasting about the ANAN.
Look at this an HDMI how American of you. Why can't Yaesu or Icom do this why do they punish us with old DVI port. Amazing a radio can be made with HDMI. why can't Yaesu Icom techs figure this out?/
I’d like to find a video that breaks these features down to super dumb level. Newbies like me don’t know anything about what you’re saying. You would sound better without a mic in front of your mouth. Thanks for the attempt to convey your product. Not likely I will get it due to the loss in translation. I guess I will have to find TH-cam videos on each individual feature your taking about to figure out if I would want your radio.

Saludos a todos desde Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Thanks Kyle and Mike. Looking forward to a longer video after the show

Lol hopefully before 2025
Wow, 20 minutes in and you’ve already sold me on a new flex 8000 series. I’m really thinking about ditching my 890 for this.
Get ready!
@@AA0Z now the 8400 or 8600 debate and wether to change the merc for a pgxl first or the 998 for the tuner genius

Thanks for watching!
Why didn't you ask him if there's going to be a 6700 version in the 8000 series ? What about phase coherent diversity reception ?
Forgot.
That's the radio I'm also looking for. Call it an 8800 with 8 slices across two SCUs.
When Kyle kept saying: yes, Yes, YES!!! I kept hearing that cafeteria scene in When Harry Met Sally.
An 8-slice upgrade replacement for the 6700 flagship please! FRS designed the 6700 once, just need an upgrade!
8600M looks like very nice Radio

The Flex API is open, all someone has to do is start writing code against it.
Yep. It's open... Just need to start writing code.
Thanks for this heads-up. Pre-distortion? Really? Finally? Apache Anan has only had that for many years!
I'd consider an upgrade from a 6600M to an 8600 (non-M). I just bought 2 Maestros (1 for a backup) so I can use one for the 8600 & one for my 6700 ...
need...voice...memory....keyer....without....3rd.....party.....software :)
(You said you'd edit out the duplicated slides, but you forgot.)
Yep. I was lazy this week due to getting ready for hamvention.
is the internal soundcard also gpsdo calibrated? e.g 1khz tone is 1000hz not 998 or 1002 and stuff?
Not sure
I don't think there is an internal sound card. Everything comes out on Ethernet and your PC creates a virtual sound card with DAX as I understand it.
Would have been a serious contender for purchase but they do not support MARS frequencies.
Not even with a mod? You might want to check on that.
Will there be a radio with 8 RX ?
Don't think so
The nw 8000er Series ;-)
But I don't own a computer.
You don't need one. They have radios with the display built on the radio, no computer needed.
Would the trade-up program be available?
I think so
I don't like the appearance of the waterfall - can those colours be changed?
There are some basic colors you can choose. Flex has the best looking waterfall on the market.
How many thousands of dollars is this going to be?
Close to a million.
Linux support?
Probably not.

@@rogerp5816 Probably not for free or without getting a dev kit

What will? All of these features are available in Apache Labs radios and have been for years...

Icom and Yaesu probably skip HDMI and use DVI because HDMI requires a licensing fee for every unit sold. You can just get a DVI to DMI adapter

Good luck in your search for a really easy radio to operate.
sandwich without meat...still nothing most flex users want
Yup. Updated hardware with same old software. Meanwhile Thetis keeps getting better & better.
Well see
Mike has no clue what he is talking about mixing Mili Ohms with Mili Hertz and rubber antenna for GPS!
They need to show me the back of the Radio the business end of the radio
6:20
watch the video they do. or go to the website where they also show it.
There is a Pic of the back
