In my early twenties I aquired a baby alligator from a friend in a trade we made for an engine I had in my garage. I had plenty of room landwise and everything so i dug out a 20 foot by 30 foot pond and researched everything i could on them and made sure all its needs were well taken care of and very early on safety and security were priority for the gator as well as the public. I worked out a deal with one of the local pet shops for feeder mice and then later rabits and living in a farming community plenty of baby chicks and later chickens. I had a lot of friends whose families had farms and once the gator got bigger most of them would just show up with a chicken randomly for me to feed the gator because they wanted to watch it eat. As word got around quickly by the second year im doing the elementary school guest speaker thing bringing the gator for the children to pet. And i will reiterate safety was always top priority and when at the schools once the gator got to be over 3 foot I always had an assistant as an extra precaution. We also have a small community college with a radiology department and every semester the gator would get x-rayed, why you ask, because the professor was a dinosaur nut and this was the closest thing to one and he somehow got the university to pay me 250$ everytime i showed up. Lol oh and the junior high school adopted "Boots" as the alligator was named as an honorary Mascot. He lived a good life but i never let my guard down. The whole town loved that gator. I had him for several years without incident and he was an inch over 6 foot when i decided to move from Indiana to florida. I could not have him as a pet there as thier was a technical issue with having no paper work that it was legally acquired to file with my class II personal pet license application. So sadly the gator had to find another home. Fortunately he was not set to be destroyed and i was allowed a bit of time to locate a facility willing to take it and everything be as legal as possible. I believe the fact that even the mayor of the small town i was moving from called to vouch for me having the gator for as long as he could remember probably is what saved the gator. As far as i know the gator is still alive. Last time i seen him he was just 3inches short of 8 foot and certainly not missing any meals. The place he originally went to shut down and he went to a zoo on the east coast but shorty after that due to hurricane sandy hitting the east pretty hard he had to be relocated to a different zoo and in the chaos which animal was which got mixed up and he either went to texas or to kansas and thats all i know. I could tell if i seen him tho. He was missing the pointed ridge from the top of his second to last tail segment as well as missing the very last segment/tip of his tail.
@@tonyprice2256 this is true but it was worth the trade as I met the woman that would give me 2 beautiful children in Florida. It would be interesting to locate him. Wild animals are illegal as pets here and there are also laws for dogs too. Why is the U.S so far behind?
It's illegal in most civilised countries. I'm appalled that Americans can buy these animals on a whim.
That is not true in every state. In fact, most US states prohibit the ownership of exotic pets. It is a revenue source for states that do allow exotic pet ownership because they charge huge license fees and make people jump through a bunch of hoops to own them. But yes, i find it sad that there are more tigers in captivity in the US than there are everywhere else in the wild.
@@tonyprice2256 we don't allow animals in circuses and there's no such thing as "roadside" zoos here, but laws are far from perfect here too. I hope laws are changing. Tigers are so beautiful but that doesn't mean they should be possessed and owned by someone.
@@carolmayhardie To be honest, there is a part of me that would love to have a big cat as a pet, because i love all types of cats. But then there is the rational and practical side of me that knows i would not be in a position to properly care for the big cat, and having one would not be good for either of us in the long run. Therefore, i am very happy with the two house cats in my life. They are my best friends. I believe that no one should have any animal that they are not able to physically control. And that would include dogs. Dangerous dogs have injured and killed more people than all the wild animals combined - in captivity and in the wild!
@@tonyprice2256 I agree and also have two domestic cats.
I can’t believe the way Lucy was manhandling those chimps!! 😡
There's nothing about a zebra that says "pet" to me.
I liked this guy until he started telling us how he separates momma zebras from damn near newborn baby calf. That's sooo fucken cruel and wrong for both mom n baby. Idk how these zebras haven't attacked this man yet tbh. You'd think he'd stop doing that but clearly he's raising them to satisfy his pockets. I'm sure it costs a lot to keep zebras but I can only imagine how much money he's already made by selling babies 😢.
He acts like he knows everything about zebras but seems more like just an average guy who decided to get a bunch of dangerous zebras. He's just been lucky so far but his luck is going to run out.
It ought to be illegal. Zebras are too dangerous
Wtf there's no benefits. From either side. Other than the benefit to the person's ego
Thank you for sharing this video 😊👍
Thanks for visiting!
Rival groups are known to attack neighboring groups and kill indiscriminately.
Yup. The only other species that engages in genocide.
Totally caged chimps?? Don't get how that's good for them. The woman has hers totally caged yet she's an expert in chimp captives. I am not understanding her.
I hate chimps... especially hairless ones. They have muscles as hard as cord wood
Jealousy looks right on you🙄
Duane speaks common sense, let them run (not just 10')
Why do humans like cages so much for these beautiful animals? So he can think he's tamed the wild.
Why do you HAVE zebras, at all? You never said.
He is selling the foals….not cool
He breeds them and sells some of them.
@@tonyprice2256 Yes. To what purpose? Pets? Meat???
@@mrsmacca126 Not sure. Maybe some of each. I can't imagine them as being very good approachable pets. They are dangerous wild animals. Perhaps rich people may buy them just to say: "I have zebras just because I can.", and simply show them off admiring them from a safe distance.
@@mrsmacca126i believe he said bottle fed are more tame and petting zoos want tamed zebras. Also for people who want zebras with their horses and bottle fed are better for that as it tames them so not too aggressive with their owners and their horses.
Chimps are not PETs..
That's exactly right. They are wild animals
We had a chimp for a president about 20 years ago in the US.
Who else will have
Albino Chimp Nightmares tonight
They are wild animals. They are not pets. You dont live them if you dont do what 7s in their best interest.
Id like to add some context on the woman that got mauled. She figured while watching him shed give him a xanax to calm him down. Thats what happened. It can take away your ambitions like alcohol. It triggers the GABA receptors in the brain.
But only someone mentally ill would want a chimpanzee as a pet ! They’re terrifying yet fascinating animals. But terrifying, mostly because of their intelligence and their strength. Just leave these animals alone and let them live in the wild, where they belong.
I wish I had enough money to see these magnificent creatures in their natural habitats and not in zoos.
We should leave exotic animals in the wild, and we can enjoy them by watching them on TV.
oddly enough i had a Canadian goose imprint on me 2 years ago during the summer months when they were at our lake , i just walked by and then out of nowhere i had this gosling follow me all over town for the entire day all the way back to where i was staying , was heartbreaking calling animal control but i had to apparently they took it back to the lake and let it out near the others . Hope it made out OK . it was neat to pet a goose without being attacked but i wouldn't want it as a pet ... shits everywhere lol
Being able to rip my arms off and beat me with them is enough to leave them in the jungle 👌🏽
Exactly
You mention the UK but not Monkey World in Dorset, where there are 250+ rescue primates from chimps and orangutans to stump-tailed macaques and ring-tailed lemurs. How so?
Wild animals should remain just that, WILD.
Actually, there's more tigers in the state of Texas only than in the wild
Yeah, and that is just crazy. The good news is that i have heard reports that the wild tiger populations in both Russia and India have increased over the past few years.
As long as they're in a proper sanctuaries run by professionals and not in small cages or homes...
I agree to the point where I'm not sure even Zoos should still exist. At least for these more advanced animals like Chimps and the great apps... it is a prison after all.... to the big cats, elephants, gazelle and big range animals. Reptiles and maybe some birds...ok. But, we have the technology now see these creatures and even in the wild where they belong. Caging them for our gratification.... starting to seem pretty evil to me.
Now, rescue and sanctuaries are the exception. Some wild animals just can't survive after captivity and we have a responsibility to care for them. I respect (and donate) to the kind and caring people that care for these animals yet... as well as they are cared for it still breaks my heart to se them anywhere but in the wild. Chimps really tug at my heart. You can see in their eyes just how close we are together. After all...imho...we're just the chimps that got kicked outta the forest by tougher chimps....lol. We evolved because we had to adapt. They haven't because they haven't had to adapt.
I went to Wild Adventures in Valdosta Georgia one time and they have Lions …the lions looked malnourished and utterly miserable and I felt awful looking at them …if we want to see animals there are enough videos and photos of them already no need to see them in person
@@thetruthandnothingbutthetr6484 They should be shut down if they are not able to care for the animals in their captivity properly.
But we still do it to people here in America more than any other country in the world.
@@thetruthandnothingbutthetr6484 exactly!
@@deathunitesus2135 Who is doing it to people? Are you referring to people who are in prison because they broke the law and were sentenced by a jury of their peers to prison?
These animals in zoos didn't break any of our laws. We are braking the laws of nature locking them up for something as petty as our own amusement.
One of the only animals id be fine with seeing extinct! Awful creatures! They're terrible to each other and have no clue what it means to be totally nonviolent
I wouldn't want a chimp. But classic human thinking. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE A CHIMP SO GIVE IT TO US
Zebras until TS 14:25
Wouldn't it be something in thousands of years the planet of the apes came true.
Pretty good thanks
Because they can rip your face off😅
Captivity may be the enemy, but its enemy you want to stick close to, for Poachers are the worst of a chimp’s enemies, let alone any animals’.
Exactly. As well as the endorsement of primates as pets on Social media.
I love gorillas
And gorillas love you too. I love all ❤😻cats 😻❤big and small
I don't need other humans.
The bald chimp apprars me ch larger than the ones with hair.
@eunicestone6532
The one here resides in the UK, he does not have alopecia, he was born like that. As stated here, he had to establish his position in the group !
His muscle tone isn’t hidden by hair.
I even hate zoos where they imprison animals for human entertainment ?
Agree
pretty sad
This is so wrong on every level... it's cruel and it's not normal 💔 😢 they are wild animals and should be protected and allowed to live in the wild. I love wolves and bears but I'd never hold one hostage as a pet. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇦🇺
How brutal can man be!!
The way man mistreats animals and fellow man nature and the planet is beyond horrible. Nature is going fight back and wipe us out in one punch and probably a good thing.
Having a chimpanzee or any wild animal as a pet is about as selfish as it gets. If you're thinking about indulging yourself, don't. Do wild animals a favour and just leave them alone. If you're nasty enough to have a chimpanzee as a pet you deserve to have your face ripped off.
"Mama says that Zebras are ornery... 'cause they got all them stripes but no paint brush..."
Why? What is the object of the exercise? It all seems so pointless to me!
These wild zebras look so much better in a sanctuary preserve free from sunscorched earth, hordes of flies, mange, predators, with abundance of grass to graze.
They Thrive better in their native African environment and are an important part of the ecology.
Stick with cats, dogs and what not.
My fish regularly try to eat me. It's cute.

How does one make $ from raising zebras?
He sells them! Aren't you listening!! People ask for young ones to bottle feed so he rips them away from their mothers! Horrid person!
Why would anyone want one? You can’t ride them or pet them
@@katywuste9054 Because many people are just dumb. A lot of people have taken in large wild cats because they are so cute when they are kittens, and they think that they are 'cool', but in less than a year they are big enough to cause problems and serious injuries. Then when the reality finally sets in that they can not be safely controlled, they end up in big cat sanctuaries - basically prison for life.
You don't.
@bridgetandrews9478 exactly. All that "money" he supposedly "made" selling zebras is gone the second one zebra kicks his chest in. He's just been lucky so far but his luck will run out at some point.
Zebras are nothing like horses. He should know that.
I've said it before and i will always say it, they are not pets they are wild animals and should be able to live in the wild without disgusting greedy so called human beings killing them. This really makes me sick.
One thing a Zebra is scared of, a 20 foot Mara river Nile Croc …..
Yeah, and rightfully so. But one thing the crocodile respects is the hippo. And one thing the hippo respects is the big ole bull elephant. And one thing the elephant is afraid of is a mouse? If that is true, that is just weird.
These animals aren't meant to be pets people are so stubborn
This reminds of slavery. Leave the animals in their natural habitats.
Why are these chimps in cages.
Because stupid people bought them, and later on found out that hey couldn't control them,
And, instead of turning them in to a sanctuary, they’re just kept in the cage.
@@christopherbennett5858 That cage WAS an official 'sanctuary.' SAD!
But in nature they are killed by humans😂
about as brutal as humans mate
I hope that we will find a time in the near future that chimps are not privately owned as pets. They are intelligent. they can be violent but that is honestly their nature. They were born wild and wild is what they remain no matter how cutely they are dressed.
What a smart man. He knows those critters. 🥰
At the beginning, those numbers are way off.
If you take a chimpanzee away from other chimps and try to give him a human environment he will go crazy 1 day he needs his own people He needs other chimps he needs that society
Not a good idea to keep wild animals as pets! Thry csn turn on u. Also, u have to have plenty of room .Its cruel to keep them csged up
Where i live many people raise zebras.
Captivity 😖
WHY
I don't think so ! They should be free on their own natural habitat .
It usually takes three generations to domesticate a wild animal.
you mean a thousand.. at least
That's not true at all, where did you get that information?
Absolutely crazy wild animals belong in the wild, not pets for human pleasures
Too bad you moved to Florida. You would probably still have him. They have a very long lifespan.
@@tonyprice2256 this is true but it was worth the trade as I met the woman that would give me 2 beautiful children in Florida. It would be interesting to locate him. I just know I would recognize the unique look the end of his tail had. I can still see it plain as day in my head. I have a few pictures someplace but I do not know if any show that defect clearly. Thanks for reading.
@@tonyprice2256 on another note I'm probably the only person in history to move FROM Indiana TO Florida with their own alligator. Lol

Thanks for sharing! How did he get through the Indiana winters? I grew up in Rhode Island where alligators were never banned (as of my moving away in 2007) so they were sold as babies in pet shops for about $100. I always wondered what on earth happened to the ones that survived. Only once did I ever hear of a stray alligator in the state.
I agree with Lord Raiden
You cannot fully domesticate any wild animal, Mr. Commentator!!
Leave wild animals to run wild. Why try to control them.

Chimps are horrible 😢

Gee, I don't know. What would make a Human a dangerous pet?
If they cared so much about these exotic pets, then why not just help them and let them be in their habitats ( Africa, etc)? , Let them be wild like how they are! Be free... I highly doubt these people would like to be caged up!
Just let them be free and wild!!
I don't like chimpanzees, only gorillas and rangas! In Australia we have cats and dogs, these are domesticated by mankind for millennia!
