It deserves to fail the prices they were asking for them was beyond offensive
Offensive because you can’t own one lol
@thefactor6909 no I could own one but majority can't still wasn't gonna drop 56k on a civic I went with the touring and I'm perfectly happy with it
@@FabianMarquez-sy7jw I don’t know were your shopping for one but they can be had for much less then that @fabianmarquez.
More like 47,000 to 49,000
Yes some dealers are still asking more then that but when you are serious and sit down with them and crunch numbers at the wright dealer you’ll get a deal.
Anyone who proves they can own one by paying dealer markups isn't really harvesting a W @@thefactor6909
@@thefactor6909Paying horrible markups or even flat MSRP to prove you have the resources to own one is really not a win tbh fam. Have some financial self respect.
This dude is full of it…. The real reason why the type r are not selling is due dealers over marking the car $10k to $20k.
This dealership removed their markups a while back and it’s still not selling.
@@revnation_auto because the mark up is an insult and customers didn’t forget
@@revnation_autobro we all saw the market adjustment sticker on the car wtf
Because of that hideous pinstripe 🤮
Just came from a dealership and saw a 11k mark up lol
LOL it clearly say $58k with a $10k market adjustment on the sticker.
I was staring at the markup sticker while at the same time he is telling us this dealer doesn't do the whole markup thing. It's literally marked up $10k from sticker! I got my 23 GRC CE at $50k out the door with everything but taxes. It was marked up $10k but three "gets up and walks away" got half of it taken away. This was of course a year ago and I think you might be able to get a Circuit at sticker. But to me it looks and feels more special than the Type R. But everyone has their own taste!
@@FrankMasi-vk9wq bout to get one up at msrp. Don’t think they selling well with mark up.
56k not 58k, but regardless that obscene amount of money for that car, like might aswell look for a jdm legend like the og nsx for that kind of price.
thats not even at MSRP. There is a $10,000 Market Adjustment on the window sticker.
Yeah i saw that in texas i told them another ten over the price kiss my ass
To be fair, "market adjustment" means rape in Swahili
Still asking $75,000 here and nobody is buying them .
Got my Champ White under MSRP (No ADM - No MKT Adjustment ). Worked directly with the owner of the dealership. Not a fan of the murdered-out Black look as it's just a sea of zero contrast that buries the bodylines. Nevertheless, I love this car and purchased it because of the way it made me feel when driving it, not because I wanted to film myself flexing on the internet. I know all of the keyboard warriors (most likely driving a hand me down from their parents) will bitch and moan about it being slow, a Civic or its overpriced but the real shame is their ignorance and displaced anger prohibits them from understanding just how satisfying it is to drive this car. Everyone these days is about disagreement and hating on someone else's purchase. People in the comments are acting as if we stole their money and bought a car they didn't want. Tell me you cant afford this car without telling me you cant afford this car (or drive a manual). To those that purchased this car and feel it is worth every penny I hope you continue to enjoy it despite the disagreeable delusional ramblings from those who pretend to know far more than they really do.
I'm sure it's very nice... just those red seats. Can Honda not offer 1 more color?
My problem with it is FWD, and no USB / AC for the rear seats. Other than that, highly desirable and I'm a huge Honda fan (even though their reliability rating has sadly tanked recently)
$46K MSRP for a Civic? Nope.
FWD performance cars are just not ideal. This thing at this price makes even less sense when the GR Corolla exists.
GR corolla is shit.
I’d pay $46k for one but I don’t have it.. 😆 imagine the monthly payment on that? $700-$800, plus $250-$300 Ins, around $1K-$1.1k monthly for a CTR..
@@caleb7674spoken by somebody that's never owned one.
Camaro SS with a 6spd is a better buy all day long.
Drove it and can’t say I’m in love with it. Bought a Slightly used BMW X3 M for $49k and it smokes this car in Comfort mode. I would gladly pay $39K for this Type R but not $55k.
my dealer wants 55k/60k out the door
First the fk8 is a lot better and more aggressive the fl5 is more of a dad car and as for price the fl5 is more of a 40k car everyone that’s buying it at 10k over or msrp once it hits 5k to 10k miles you can easily find one for 40k plus so it makes no sense buying it at 46k
Can't find one at msrp....found 1 and then they told me my trade was 2k less then everyone else's value...they all suck
Call Hall Honda in Elizabeth City NC. They are doing msrp on it.
Redicilious prices all new cars should be half the price of what they are currently sold for
Got mine for MSRP in February. It's worth every penny, especially considering I will never sell it.
I had never had a honda before buying mine as I was looking for a manual drivers car. NONE really exist anymore....... I have had E46m3's, GTRs (new and old), mustangs, camaros, and much more.......nothing is quite like this. It is not a drag racer but once she is on the open road....wow......so good. Just wish it had normal analog dash and a real e brake.
Doesn't it suck not really being able to drift around corners? I can't get over the FWD thing
I think for the money I'd buy something else. Definitely a collectors car just to say they have one. I'm curious how bad the torque steer is when getting on it. I'm sure they've fixed that.
It’s noticeable but not anything that’ll rip you off the road. I owned a bunch of turbo front wheel drive cars and it’s the most planted out of the factory.
@@revnation_autoI agree very little to no torque steer it’s pretty amazing
It feels like your driving a rwd or awd can’t even tell it’s a fwd they did so good on it
100% agree with the previous comment. This car drives and rides like a RWD. Believe me, I've have owned only RWD Bimmers for the past 10 years and this car drives amazing. Torque steer is barely noticeable if you really step on in on 1st gear but other than that torque steer is non existent. Love driving this car. Perfect daily.
"No longer doing any market adjustment". Ok, so why is the market adjustment sticker still on the window to the right side of the OEM vehicle window sticker? Clearly this car is not being sold for MSRP which is why ya'll are still sitting on it...
The road noise is there because Honda wanted to keep the weight to a minimum. Suspension is firm because its a track tuned suspension. Seats will not cook you like typical leather as these are alcantara based.
Like the fk8 body style better. This body style belongs to a single female in her 30s working for the state.
Fk8 are fugly
Terrible pinstripe....is this 1978? Lol
Yeah it was super lame
I don’t like the exhaust or the airfoil
Absolutely love mine and one of the best gear boxes on the market . Seats are the most comfortable out of all the cars I’ve owned and keeps you planted with all turns you can throw at it . I got my Sonic grey Pearl for 500 over sticker a few months ago. Definitely my favorite car all around I’ve ever owned and handles phenomenal . When you slide into the seat you feel like your part of the car . There is something very special about this car that you won’t realize until you own one . After owning one I realize this car is worth way over sticker price and I would of payed it if necessary 💯
I have a sports sonic gray one and it absolutely amazing! Got it back in February of this year but it is just such a great car! Definitely wanna mod it for sure but gonna have to wait a bit. I have kinda wanted to get a type R but I don’t know how to drive a stick haha but they are all just amazing cars overall I love my civic
@@nicholassanders8163 Congratulations and great choice . Welcome to the fam and hope you enjoy it to its fullest .
And he thinks paying sticker (or over 💀) is somehow worth it. Player failing at the game.
I rented Type R and 2013 911 S pdk from Turo for 3 days each. If Turo offered me free rent for 1 year pick one, no hesitation I take Type R it’s that much fun and engaging…
I remember seeing a new Civic Type R before the pandemic for $33K at the dealership. The salesman even offered to slash $2000 off. I should've gotten it. The prices on these today are insane now!
Same here. Honestly the previous gen is a better car, much more comfortable just as much fun.
Please redo the last part and change the title. There's clearly a markup shown in your video.
Type R should be a coupe
Yeah just looks like a family car..
Type are is dead since the dc5 and ep3
4door makes the insurance cheaper.
$46 was a tough pill to swallow for the Type-R. But the extra $18k over the blander Sport was well worth it. Seats, suspension, engine, transmission, Bose stereo, rev matching are all things I enjoy. Best of all it’s in a practical hatchback body so no trunk lid limitations. MSRP is an ok buy, but never with any sorts of markups. If I had to do it all over again, I’d probably opt for Rallye Red over Boost Blue.
Just picked up a new ‘24 Type R in Championship White @ MSRP! This will be a good daily and go between my R8 and SVJ.
I prefer the previous generation FK8, Apparently the FK8 is faster as well.
It feels faster than the new one for sure. Many people do prefer the FK8 but I’ve seen them sit around not selling as well. Try to test drive one at Carmax
It is faster than the new one both on 0-60 & Top end
@@revnation_autoEven used are expensive,,not just everyone can get into an FK8. Why pay $70,000 for the same engine thats on the FK8 and also the FK8 is faster.
My niece has one and she absolutely LOVES it!!
I’m sure she does. Glad to hear, need more young women driving manuals.
Like why would they put pinstripes on a car like this? I mean, some people have no taste…lol 😂
Yeah it’s gross. They told me they’ll take it off if I buy it ha
Every aspiring teenager is lusting after this car, because their friends told them to like it...because their friends told them to like it. Look at the carbon fibre engine cover, adds at least 5hp! Don't get me started on that wing. Very capable car with some good engineering, but since when is paying $46k for a 4cyl econo-box a good idea?
A lot dealers want way more than that for it. I seen some go up to 60k something.
nah they look super cool, plus it's a honda. I'm still not buying one for 40k
It’s far from that - only civic in name. You should really do some research before spouting boomer muscle car guy rhetoric
You really have to drive it to understand this car. I rented Type R and 911 S pdk from Turo for 3 days each. If Turo offered me free rent for 1 year pick one, no hesitation I take Type R it’s that much fun and engaging…
lol at kids making comments that have never driven one
Well you,, did not explain why the Type Rvis not selling. You complain more on the styling. Yes, it's a boy racer car just like the FK8 (I believed) what it's called the one based on the 10th generation. So basically they are not selling because the are too expensive or not expensive enough because the Acura Intergra Type S has came on the scene. It's cheaper options out there now. The Toyota GR Corolla and the new jack the Hyundai Elantra N.
Are you %%%#/_ kidding me. Forty-five for honda Civic "F@$%%^^_^%=55%%÷#% you". I bought my Honda civic ex-l for 27300, and it runs great.
Not nearly 50 grand for an entry level civic lmao 😅 Rathee have a Z car , BMW or the Acura TLX type A for slightly more. Lexus RCF too or IS 500 with a V8
Call me crazy but i feel like car companies shouldnt expect that many sales year to year from enthusiast cars, refresh the car every 2-3 years just keep advertising it, then offer uogrades yearly instead of a new car you got new parts they can buy or tune the car wirelessly like tesla and that way its kind of like yearly even how eveyone gets their new iohone upgrade at the same time and talks about whats new .. can anyone let me know if thats honestly a bad idea or not and why? And im being serious im curious what people think
sad how dealers don't care to get a manual car off their lot sadly no one wants to even bother with those in modern car market hard enough finding reg civic si in manual let alone a type r and now they just don't make them much 1 every 14 months 😑😑 no one wants to pay a 15k markup and the buyers hype is over sadly
I had the FK2 which had quad exhaust which I think the new one should have had looks much better than the triple
Completely wrong title, that type r is not being sold for MSRP, the honda dealer sticker even says market adjust $10,000 and TOTAL PRICE is 56k not even including title and tax. Pause at 6:22 LMAO
I posted the purchase agreement, It’s at MSRP.
Posted the purchase agreement, it’s msrp
Manufactures will never understand that most vehicles “fail” bc of the greedy dealerships. Yes the car is cool and rare but it’s not worth the average mark up of $12k this long after it was released
The Integra Type S is cannibalizing sales.
build quality is quite startaling between teh R to the S...... seems they like to align everything in Japan. One of the best build quallity cars these R's have.....quite amazing.
I saw one at my Kroger parking lot. Very very impressive.
It’s an impressive machine. I might be a little too old and cranky for something like it though ha
46k for a civic? tough.
If you want performance, you’re gonna have to deal with some road noise…stiff suspension.
Its slower than the old one wtf honda
The problem is america is getting to expensive to live, and own a cars. The criminals in this planet are making the planet not liveable.
Quad exhaust tips look best
I agree!
Did the integra type s cannibalize sales from marked up type r?
I'd rather get a GTI or Elantra N and save some money. Otherwise, I'd get a Golf R. Curious if you've driven a Golf R.
Sales of the Type S are tiny amount by comparison, so no. Most things that suck about the Type R, the Type S fixes. Interior is nicer, much more comfortable ride, a lot less road noise. Elantra N and GTI are great options but both feel underpowered to me. The last Golf R I drove was 2022. It’s much more adult friendly and comfortable. I’ll review one for you.
I couldn’t get rid of my Camaro for the Type R, it would need another 150hp to really get me excited to drive it.
@@revnation_auto That is easy to achieve.
I got the Integra Type S instead
CIVIC TYPE R IS AT THE TOP OF THE HOT HATCH HIERARCHY FOR A REASON! ONLY THE STEREO SUCKS AND PUNY GAS TANK!
If you driven the Elantra N manual, then it does feel a little lacking in power. The Elantra N DCT is the one to get, because that version is pushing out 330hp and 330tq on the dynos. Very German of Hyundai to underrate the car power numbers.
I just bought one for msrp, going pick it up in two days!
If they sold the fl5 for msrp they wouldn’t hold value as they should
At that price range I could spend an extra $20K and get a C8 Corvette
Great car! Bought my wife a 2018 w/ low miles on it! A hoot to drive! Top speed 176 m.p.h! Got the door sill lights on all 4 that add pizzazz to it! Only issue is a very small 12.4/ gallon tank. Usable gallons of 11.77 gallons that I personally tested!
The road noise is worse on the new one.
Looks like boy racer to me, but I respect your opinion.
You drive a caddy?

why the fuck would you buy a honda for 50k lol
That SS next to it isn't too far off in price. I'd pay more for that.
I don't know where you live. In NorCal I just bought an Integra Type S. I don't see one of those or any red-badge Honda on any lots around here. I see no stats, just a typical walkaround and a sticker. Boring clickbait.
The wing type spoiler is so lame 😊.
You guys are saying it’s overpriced but it is not because you bought it for 60k in 5 years it still 40-50k literally now if you got it for msrp you’re never gonna lose money on it cause prices don’t really go down on these hence why dealers sell them overpriced so u won’t make money off it when u resell
I agree with the negatives: Road Noise and Harsh Ride 🚫
It was way worse than the previous generation. They went to extreme in the whole “track car” department. It’s also pretty slow to be honest. My Camaro SS would cut that car in half. Massive disappointment
Many here (as have I) have noted that there is a sticker with + 10k market adjustment, and the response is “but the purchase agreement says msrp”. What does that mean though? Non US citizen here….. So maybe this question is stupid. Does it mean a personal purchase agreement (written or verbal) for MSRP that they have given you?
I’m not saying that I don’t believe you, but there is no “proof” or even verbal comment in the clip regarding discrepancy in the +10k sticker and the statement “doesn’t even sell at MSRP”
4 cyl engine??? rofl. No thanks. My vette has a V-8 and NO turbo. Life is good. Feel sorry for anyone who thinks a Honda is a real sports car.
It's the high end of the civic so it is gonna be more than the standard civic and civic SI. It got a lap time at Nurburgring of 7 min 39 seconds. It's built for the track not for comfort. Do you want to modify and make it faster for the track or do you want to drive it as a daily? If it meant for the latter, then you would want to get a standard civic or possible the SI.
How do you read the addendum a say they have a $100 package and not see they also have a $10K market adjustment then a big bold price of $56,389.
I bought a blue one for MSRP about 2 months ago. Dealer was 180 miles away but it was well worth to buy the ultimate front wheel drive car.
You telling me about the looks and the experience of the car. Why is the Honda Type R not selling at the MSRP?
Teen machine!!! Nope.
Has absolutely nothing to do with being $20 grand overpriced to begin with. Absolutely nothing at all.
Also try the Acura Integra type S with 6 SPD manual. Not as noisy and basically same driveline….
Prefer the previous styling
Same here and it’s more comfortable
They’re too expensive. A brand new one in Australia is $73600. It was on my list to test drive, but couldn’t justify the price. Got a 2016 RS3 after test driving multiple second hand and new cars.
Feel the same as you. Noisy and a bit too stiff. I’ll give you $36,990.
Just because of those ugly red strips, they should lower it 15k🤦🏾♂️
What's the story with the wheel gap?
No idea, noticeable though, good catch
They have it zip tied from factory
Why would anyone buy this fl5? You could get a manual GR Supra or you could get a awd M240i with ZF8, i think the rwd drive has manual option. Why buy a Type R over those cars? The B58 is proven to be reliable. That's why they're sit there. Don't sell a 35k for 60-70k it won't sell!
It’s not the same audience shopping those cars man. I don’t disagree with you but both of those cars are $10k more and not too common. M240i has a bit of a hairdresser vibe as well.
These hall dealerships are crap. Yeah they mark up everything. Every civic they get.
Also having insulation under the hood protects the paint from excessive heat
Who wants underhood NVH material? Battery blanket is insulated to keep the battery from getting too hot - should have put it in the trunk.
50k for 300hp and Wrong wheel Drive. I think not
Honda civic type r is just too good, you can see the comments here.😂
if the gr corolla starts at 37 something there is no way this should be starting at 46. 40 to 43 is fair
Yeah, that's a nice ride; is it a manual? I'd only buy a manual Honda, their automatic transmissions are crap (we've owned 2 disappointing Hondas).
Performance-wise... I'd just get a Model 3, because most of these performance ICEs, if you drive them accordingly, will develop some random issue, which means dealership hassles. People are tired of dealership BS... another reason we just got a Tesla.
Bose is nice... but outdated. When it comes to sound, Tesla has that beat hands-down... at that MSRP.
The Supra is just a rebadged BMW... pretty disappointing. Any Detroit make... forget it. European (throw the Supra in that mix), uh-uh... hard enough to get parts for standard makes. Nissan Z ... laughable markup. There really aren't a whole lot of options or there, surprisingly.
Thanks for the tour!
These cars exist for car people and brand enthusiasts, that you are not. No third pedal, no gearbox, no noise under the hood, no engagement, no exhilaration except mashing the pedal on the onramp sometimes. BEVs are soulless rolling appliances, but that's just what the modern buyer wants 🤷♂️
They are special cars but people these days want value more than just prestige. These start at $10K ish more than the FK8 did when it was unveiled for 2017, and even 7-8 years later and accounting for inflation, the FL5 just isn't worth the cost hike. The Elantra N is a better deal, and the R should start at $40K not $45K.
I don’t disagree. One of the main contributors to the price tag is the container shipping price gouging that gets passed onto the customer. I was a Coast Guard Officer and know a lot of people in that industry. Prices to ship went up 125% in some cases. In reality they were historically underpriced to keep their monopoly on commerce. 2020-present allowed them free rein to squeeze every penny out of the market. I’ll make a video about it.
Because u get more for less camaro, mustang, charger etc.
Carmax charges 45> 55 k for the '23 &'24!
Car is worth $45k. One of the best cars out there right now. This, BRZ, Miata and the new Z. Everything else is overpriced for what it offers.
We have another one coming in white if you want it!!!
@@copacetictv No, I 'll get it for about $15,000
I love this type R. I like the last one too, but this one I like more!
My local dealer wants 30,600$ for the base model civic, I asked what the cash price was and they said 30,400$ 😂 the US dollar is worthless 😭
They want you to take their crappy financing. Never say you’re paying cash. They get paid by the bank when you get the loan.
makes me mad they sell a type R race model that is 4 door! they need to bring back 2 door sports models and stop cutting cost to the point we are driving a box they just keep cheaping out and cutting corners that shouldnt be cut
They should have made a legit Acura Integra Type R 2-door with a naturally aspirated Vtec that can rev to 9,000rpm. That would sell better than the Type S. Could price it at like $40k even.
You make comments on aspects of design that deal with performance or aerodynamics? This is a well designed, well engineered performance car. The headline says their not selling? In what time are you referring to? Every Honda dealer near me has easily sold the one or two cars they've been allotted. Most, over list.
This dealership has 8 available. This one has been there for months. Same with the ones on the Virginia side. Most are still trying to do markups and buyers bought something else. People are also going broke, especially their younger demographic who buys this car. If you actually talk to a salesperson at Honda, they’ll give you the reality on the ground. I can buy this particular car below msrp.
Hmmm...I guess I'll just keep my Acura RSX Type S....zoom zoom!
That’s a sweet car
The Honda dealer you filmed at does do a markup
all these cars are so overpriced. This should be 40k max.
I think it should have been $38k starting and allowed more customization. Power heated seat, sunroofs things like that
You said your friend has an FK8 in a sharp Blue. But which shade of Blue, Boost Blue(Bright Blue) or Aegean Blue(Darker Metallic Blue)?
Aegean Blue, great color!
This red stripe on side will cost $500.
That isn’t even at MSRP…. Look at the total it’s like 56k on the video. lol
I posted the purchase agreement. $49k after taxes, tags, processing ect.. still waaay too much money for something that rides like crap
I traded my 2019 fK8 type R and bought a 2023 FL5 in this same crystal black pearl!! I paid msrp on both of my Type Rs new! I owned my Fk8 for 4 years and bought it new back in 2019! I can’t say from experience the FL5 in my opinion is a better car in pretty much every way over the FK8! They are similar in acceleration but the FL5 is so much better overall to me personally! People get super critical but of the FL5 but a lo of the people that are critical have never driven one! The FL5’s drivability, fit and finish, interior, infotainment, sounds system, interior design, wheel and tire setup and overall build quality is definitely superior than the FK8 in my experience and opinion!! Both great generations but if a person picks an FL5 up at msrp I can tell you it’s a lot more car for your money than critics might think! To be fully honest It definitely isn’t a perfect car but overall is a very capable and well built car and is worth it if you can find one at msrp!! The FK8 is a great car too but I would never go back! Great video! I am a new subscriber! Keep up the great content! 🚙🫶
The road noise and suspension were a no go for me. It’s also not fast enough, but I’m used to driving a 475hp Camaro as my daily. Overall great car, but not for me.
@@revnation_auto totally understandable!! If a person is looking for just fast straight line speed the Type R probably isn’t the car! I agree the road noise is definitely pretty loud! I look forward to watching more of your videos! Keep up the great content!🚙
Could never get use to that red. Just me. Like a 70's caddy pimp ride
Haha it does
I'd buy one if I could find one in Canada
Type R was always a sport car They are just leaning into it with the styling. I do like this look more though. However these civics have gotten up there in price. The interior says to me that it's going for the luxury crowd too. CIVIC And IINTEGRA shouldn't be competing. The civic is supposed to be budget friendly, 🙄 a 40K+ tag is not budget for most. Kinda my issue with most sports car offerings nowadays. Good luck getting reliable performance and light sport applications with less than a 600 dollar payment. Gotta buy used. For that price, you could walk out in a V8 sports car, used of course. I think the older V6 chargers are in that range.
But it is not a normal Civic, is a type r. You cant expect it to be cheap. Also, the interior is in fact cheap comparing with the "premium" brands.
@josedusol I don't think 40k is cheap. You got 40 k just sitting around? I don't. I would have to finance. My payments would rival rent payments @ over 500 a month. What's more is that it is more expensive than that, and I still consider it affordable. However @ 50K or more (mark-ups, taxes, etc), you have to consider what it's other competitors are. Honda isn't luxury, Acura is...and the car is probably better bang for the buck, not to mention what else you can pick up for the same price or just barely over. It's economics, not emotional brand recognition and politics.
There is no denying that it is a nice car, but in my own personal opinion. It isn't worth what he is selling it for.
There's no such thing as FWD sports car😂 it's either RWD or AWD....
I read about the cooling issues (mostly on track, not reported on regular road use). Integrated headers. Personally, I would love to own one.
It’s definitely cool. For the same money though, you can get some amazing cars. Camaro SS, Mustang GT, Challenger Scatpack, Audi S3, used M340i, Supra and more. Type R will be more sought after than most cars imo. End up like the Integra Type R, or S200.
Integra...ted
Hell yeah 👍 I buy for msrp!!! In California dealers are still adding 10k + to the type R
It’s not great to drive tbh
@@revnation_auto i’ve driven a few of them as they come in and out of the shop I currently work in and I’ve had the pleasure of having a few neighbors that have them. I personally find the car to be fantastic to drive however, it’s just hard to find them for the right price. MSRP
@@Vsm_integra I agree it is a great car to drive. Recently picked up new one in Ohio for MSRP. There is not a big supply, but possible to find for MSRP.
It is not meant to be fast in straight line, but on a canyon road, it is very impressive. However, I am a retired guy, so maybe I am just easily impressed.
it will sell when it reaches $34,000.
I’d be right there to buy it ha
