Out here in Southern California the market is rough on these but there is a lot of good information in this video. Never thought to pressure the dealer at the end of the month to see if the sales manager will give in. Thank you and congrats
Hey great video!! I traded my Sonic Gray Pearl 2019 FK8 Type R in January of 2023 when they were a bit hard to get I bought my Crystal Black Pearl 2023 Type R and got it at msrp at my local Honda dealership which was nice not to have to travel anywhere! It was rare at the time to get one with no mark up and no add ons! I owned 4 different new civic Si’s from 09’ , 12’ , 14’ and 17’ prior to my Type R’s! Been a Honda fan for a long times! From experience the best Type R is the FL5! I loved my FK8 but until I owned my FL5 and had a lot of time with both it is on another level of quality!! I would never go back! Great video!! Keep up the great content! 🚙😀
@@Shono731 very cool! You were fortunate not to have to pay markup especially in ‘23 when they first came out. Certain dealership policies do not allow markups and you were definitely in the right place at the right time! 👍🏻👍🏻
@richardly438 I had one lined up in Pennsylvania for at MSRP, but anything in VA I found was marked up. Except for the black, but I really wanted a Sonic Gray Pearl. My daily died on me so I ended up just buying a 2025 Si. Took me about 2 weeks to find one for MSRP lol
@@richardly438 2k isn't bad, most dealerships I've talked to at least in the none area a month ago we're between 5-10k markup. I guess with the 2025s being shipped, they want that inventory more so lol
Got mine for 3k under msrp plus add ons 3k so basically msrp with alcantara steering wheel and leather shift knob. They also gave me all the original equipment including the leather steering wheel and og shift knob
Motoring obsession was a huge discovery. I've been watching the market for a few weeks now and will continue to wait until I find a deal I can't pass up.
Man this must suck. In Australia Every single Honda dealership sells them at MSRP. I got mine for the advertised price on the website. You just place and order and wait your turn. Great car.
Not sure what the sales laws are over there, but have heard its similar to Canada where the prices are the prices. Its a free market here in the states, so dealers decide on what they sell them at, whether it has a markup, sticker, or sometimes under sticker. Its a whole game buying new cars in the USA which can add excitement and frustration as well.
I live in Hawaii & was able to acquire my Pearl Black FL5 just over msrp using these same strategies. Timing, the end of the month & finding a dealer with large inventory is critical. Very good video, Great information, I raised a brow when you said circle back then I saw your cool shirt. 😂 As soon as the Type R turns hybrid the value will double! Get ready! It’s coming! 🤙🏽
the vin number thing is less odd than you'd think, in counter strike the skins have a wear value of 0-1 and some people collect skins with certain numbers as the wear, 0.00142069 for example. 2300 is fire, can't blame u for wanting haha
Pretty good. The only place they got you is the doc fee $464. That's just $ in the bag for them. In my state doc fee is maxed at $85. It's basically 20 mins of paperwork for them. That said, boost blue is nice. Congrats on a good deal and a nice car.
I want a FL5 so bad but ive made up my mind to wait until the end of the year. Either end of November for my birthday or end of December. Stock piling cash until then.
I got clubbed on mine, but I also sold it a few months later over MSRP as a used car as well. It's all about market value in your area. Buying out of state is a huge pain in the ass. Good video though!
how is the insurance on this car? I've been thinking of buying one, gonna put at least 15k down and i have ok credit. I'm estimating my monthly around 500-600/month, but thats not including car insurance. I turn 25 in February, and I still don't know if my parents would let me be on their insurance (have a 2010 civic ex with 140k miles and it has no AC so want a new car xD) so if I get a new insurance I was wondering what rate you got.
NRA FTW ! Lots of good advise... 5.39% for 72 months and below MSRP. The only thing i do not agree on is dropping $35K down payment as you can make that money work for you in investments and can generate passive income for you. Plus gives you the flexibility if you need the cash. Can confirm that even on a full coverage insurance its anywhere between $100-110 per month
I got mine at MSRP at Coggin Honda in Jacksonville, FL. Most Florida dealers in Florida wouldn’t offer anything near MSRP. Sarasota Honda offered MSRP as well but did not have boost blue.
Although I do like the Boost Blue Pearl color, I'm surprised you didn't choose to purchase a Rallye Red car over the other available colors, given that those numbers suggest it's the most rare and unique choice.
It was a tough call no doubt, but felt the Rallye Red doesn’t age well as red pigments break down fast with UV rays. The metallic flake within Boost Blue helped out my color choice a little bit as well.
Where were these videos a year or two ago? There's no strategies, they are simply just available for MSRP now due to supply and demand -_- these youtubers man
@boolji is right on. These aren't strategies. The availability of MSRP is a function of the times. These "strategies" didn't work in late 2022/early 2023. And no, I didn't pay a markup. I paid MSRP in first quarter 2023. It also would've been nice to give credit to the creator of this tool. There's also another one created by Steven Matchett.
Elantra N, gr corolla, golf r, mustang, heck even the wrx has marks up because of the HYPE. This video doesn't really make sense lol. Wait till the hype goes down and mark ups will dissappear/go down.
You have a lot of good advice and you have a lot of common sense and a very responsible person!
man, this is VERY useful information!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I am looking at this vs WRX!! Also, congrats on the new ride!!

Dude, this is a hugely valuable tool, and video. Well done man! If were in the market for a new Type R, I'd be ALL OVER this!
Good job and great info.
If you're in Michigan, the Fox dealers sell these at MSRP if they are new. Integra Type S' too.I got my ITS at MSRP.
There’s 44 for sale within 200 miles of me. Also @$45k for a civic and the economy it’s a buyers market.
How is it a buyers market, if everything is still so darn expensive?

Does anyone knows how to track civic type R in Canada !?
Motoring obsession only shows cars in Usa ..
No way to track in Canada. I have noticed all the FL5 Type Rs come to BC at once. They are even more limited in Canada.
What’s insurance company?
There’s no discounting in Canada. There’s no supply.

Dealers want you to finance with them due to they markup the interest rate that the bank offers and make money from there
You can find msrp if you call around and show them you are serious
