When thinking about the original creators leaving, take into account that.. they weren't responsible for most of the best written episodes or even coming up with the best arcs. They didn't create Zuko's arc, they were going to have Iroh betray him at some point. They are clearly very talented artists and talented creators, but most of the praise that gets attributed to them was actually the work of Aaron Ehasz and his wife. Also worthy of note is that the Showrunner, Albert Kim, whe he was offered the job said "why fix what isn't broken? Why do this?" but decided to do it because it's a great chance for representation of Asiatic and Indigenous communities in a fantasy epic. He and the crew have been pulling from the comics and novels for more solid lore and background that the original series didn't even have because it hadn't been written yet. ALSO 2 of the scripts that Mike and Bryan wrote for the Netflix series have been used and they have their credits for their work. I've actually heard Netflix wanted to stay more faithful to the original series and it was Bryke who wanted to change more things.

I see, thanks for that! That makes me a bit more excited and hopeful for the series. That's interesting what you said about Aaron Ehasz, I've been meaning to check out The Dragon Prince, a show he co-created. I guess now I have more of a good reason to!

Not to mention Aaron Ehasz was also the one who persisted in making Toph the legendeary 12 year old girl she is, while Bryke were going for a generic muscly jock.

You're ancient? I was a fan the same time you were with the original, but I have grandchildren. You're delightfully young, enjoy.

Not to mention the slim chance of The Rock as The Boulder.

For a new and small channel, your production quality and speaking style are quite good. Good luck :) That and yours is the first time I've heard about this new Netflix version and yeah, I feel your trepidation.

Been a fan from day one. I was a bit old to be watching Nickelodeon at the time but I being the nerd that I was and still am saw a promo for Avatar I think back in summer of 2005. I who was then 14 and still loved watching some of the cartoons from my childhood got really pumped that a more serious adventure show was coming to nick. I always enjoyed the animation that pushed past the regular silly cartoons and hen I saw this it really hit a nerve with me. Back then I really only had one friend to talk to any of the shows I loved. Truthfully he really was my only friend in any circumstance. We both grew up in a somewhat rural area away from most of the kids in our school and so we really only had each other. From a young age him and I would play as though we were characters in some forgotten land. Never really knowing what to call what we did anything other then “the game.” But later learning that it was basically LARPing. Anyway this was kind of kept as a secret between us from kids at school. I mean we were right in the age that we’re not supposed to play make believe anymore and begin to direct our attention to party’s, freedom, and of course girls. So while we both definitely crushed on girls and enjoyed freedom and teenage rebellion we both still loved acting out the stories we wound come up with. Actually becoming more passionate about our “games” as we got older. Back then the Lord Of the Rings movies had taken over our imaginations and we played mostly characters based off of Tolkien’s world. But once I saw the very first episode of Avatar I knew this had potential to be a new obsession of mine. Unfortunately my friend didn’t have cable at the time so for the first few episodes I was on my own but by the time the fifth episode came out and the gang met one of my all time favorite characters who is of course the great king Bumi I was absolutely hooked. I later convinced my friend to sit down and watch with me and in no time he too was an avatar fan.I fell in love with how much thought went into the original series. All the time spent to make their world feel like a real place. All the complex philosophies the show never shied away from and still managed to make it goofy and fun enough was really impressive. I loved that avatar as goofy as it could be dealt with real issues and the deeper insight of one’s own self that at the time I in my early teens was dealing with a lot. I absolutely love this show and hope that the Wib action can at least live up to the essence of what made the original so great. But I don’t think it could ever come close to touching what that show did for me at such a confusing time in my life. Ps I absolutely remember the wait in between the final season. It felt like it would never come and I was even worried that the show was canceled. That’s one thing that’s horribly frustrating about being part of this fandom. It’s so hard to discover news about what’s coming up or what’s coming next. Haha

I'm Right there with you, fan since the start. and I think, for the official trailer it should just be just straight up a scene or half a scene to show us that it won't be a repeat of the 2010 calamity. show us the bending, the good dialogue, the good editing/Special FX.

24, talkin about you old! I'm 35 and a half years old, that still young but, boy do I feel old! At one point a family asked me when I was going to grow out of watching cartoons. To which I said, never! Not only do I still watch thing made of kids but I watch adult animated features and shows, period! The first episode I saw was in season 2 but we didn't have DVR back then, so I waited to buy the DVDs and watched all of season 3 while it was airing. Since then, I can't count how many times I've watched the show! I just hope the remake doesn't make me just go and watch the animation. I'm bracing for the largest issue being that it's too close to the original. For me to invest my time in a remake I need it to have a reason to exist, just a shot for shot of the animation, will not work for this fan.

lets not Hayden Christianson or jake Lloyd any acters again...blame the writers, producers and execs....not the actors and actresses. But they do like they did homework, and put in some great effort to do the show justice based on the trailer and the soundtrack
