    I encountered the same issue. After watching your video I checked the spark plugs and figured there was no spark since it was dirty. Gave it a good clean and the blower started. Thanks for the video.

    Thank you. So it obvious
    That someone worked on prior because of the fuel leak from the top of the bowl.
    Good fix.
    I have a 21 yr old toro this only my second snowblower, the first one is a 30 yr old push craftsman snowthrower oil gas mix always starts on first pull. The toro was gifted to me and thanks to you all I got it going. Won’t idle on low just middle and up.

      Does the carburetor have a low end mix screw? If so it would be on the side of the carburetor. That may need adjustment.

    Love the video! I just tried to start my one year old Toro and had the same symptoms you had in this video. I am going to see if this leads to resolution! Thanks man!!!

    Great video. The owner of the machine must have dropped the float bowl or maybe taken the carburetor off and did some checking and didn't get the float bowl seal seated correctly. Great find. Also, great that you noticed the crankcase was too full of oil. Most dip sticks have right on them, do not overfill. Spark plug defiantly needed changing too. It seems the Toro Power Max snow blowers are easy to work on. Some machines are designed terribly when it comes to getting at the carburetor. This will be my first winter to try out my new Toro Power Max HD 1232. I did lots of research before pulling the trigger on the Toro Power Max HD. One of the biggest reasons was I have a Toro dealer within a few miles of where I live. And the Toro quick stick seems to be one of the better shoot controls among the major snow blower brands. I also opted to steer clear of auto steer due to my very uneven terrain. The Toro 1232 has trigger steer. Well, winter is coming, so it's time to get things ready. Videos like yours are a great help for many do it yourselfers. Have a blessed and safe winter.

      Glad you liked it. You must be somewhere where you get a bunch of snow. We get snow, but it just melts in a day or two. Sometimes we do get a descent storm. So my snowblower is a push broom and sometimes a shovel :-)

      I live in southeastern Michigan about 38 miles north of Detroit. According to weather outlooks, it is projected that we get plenty of snow this winter. I have no idea how they determine future forecast, but that is what they are saying. Some winters we do get plenty of snow. I am getting older, so a machine that gets the job done easier and quicker is all good in my book. And the new machine even has hand warmers. Can't wait to see how they work. Thanks for your reply. Have a blessed and safe winter. @@small_engine_repair

    I have a snow blower just like it, or very close. It has one or two uses although 5-7 years old. We’re just not getting any snow in VA, but a strong storm is heading this way. I hope it’s something simple, I have a few days to get it fixed, lol Thanks

    Nice video, question why is the drain plug missing on the crankcase (carburetor side) of these machines? I have noticed this on several videos. Can you explain? Toro

      Are you saying that there should be one? If it should be there and is not, we would need the manufacture/designers to chime in.

    Hello, thanks for the video. After the spark plug change I would have thought it would have started. NOPE, but when you took of the guard to expose the carb I was able to see the bowl on the carb was cock-eyed and not sealing. Did it ever run for the customer or did the customer try to fix and possibly monied with the bowl? If that was the case, the spark plug change would have fixed it if not for the miss alignment. Just interested in why it happened. The Facebook link was not active, please send me your tel. Number in the springs for future reference. Thanks

    Came here for basically the same issue... Very informative. I ran my Toro SnowMaster 724 QXE 24 in. 212 cc Single stage Gas Snow Blower twice the other morning using the electric start, and I had to use it a 3rd. time later that evening, and the electric starter just whirred when pushed. Fortunately I was able to use the manual pull and it started right up. Thoughts?

      If the starter gear does not mesh with the flywheel teeth correctly it will do that. After starting it with the pull cord, turn it off, then try the starter again. Odds are the teeth should align and should start the machine. If the starter does the same thing, then I would say the starter is done and needs to be replaced.

    What’s with all these people messing with the float bowls and causing problems with the gaskets? 🤔. Makes for good business for you. 👍😁

      I think they start tearing apart and then realize that there is a bunch going on in the carburetor area and get overwhelmed.

  • @kentyler966

    These Chinese motors that practically every snowblower manufacturer uses are very prone to early carburetor issues. I doubt that they they will have a long service life like the USA manufactured Briggs and Tecumseh’s did.

    • @small_engine_repair
      @small_engine_repair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. The metal they are made of is cheap as well. I had one a while back where the auger housing bent and the auger fell out. Not like they use to make them. I just posted a video of a craftsman snowblower from the 80’s that sucked up a newspaper. Barely phased the machine. I just had to pull the paper out. No damage.

    Toro 824 mdl 38540 ser 00000131 trannie jumps in/out of reverse/forward and forward/reverse. How do I remove it?

    • @small_engine_repair
      @small_engine_repair  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not had to remove one before so I am not sure of the exact steps. I would ask on the small engine or snow blower reddit.

    Toro 824 transmission jumps in and out of forward/reverse gears. Why?

    • @small_engine_repair
      @small_engine_repair  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, I really can't answer that based on this information you have given me.

    • @bobpratt7083
      @bobpratt7083 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@small_engine_repair thanks. The Toro 824 is model 38540 ser 00000131 if that helps. With the reverse cable disconnected so that there is no pressure (and there is from the spring) on the protruding reverse lever on top of the trannie and that lever is in the forward position then it should not jump into reverse?

    • @small_engine_repair
      @small_engine_repair  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not personally tore one of those apart, but yes what you have stated makes sense. I found a picture of that transmission online and see what you are explaining. That spring holds the lever so reverse should not engage, unless you pull on the cable. I am sure you are already thinking that something inside the transmission is broken and I would agree. I would pull the transmission apart to investigate further.

    It kills me watching it .... because I've done stuff like that in the past. Not line something simple up correctly , or tip the engine the wrong way and create a problem far worse than what ai started out with ...Lol.... 🤣

    I have new plug but no spark

    • @small_engine_repair
      @small_engine_repair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ignition coil could be bad. To test that you need to disconnect the wires that run to the key and the wire that runs to the kill switch on the the throttle. If you still have no spark after disconnecting those, then the ignition coil is bad. If you have spark, then something is up with the wires that were unplugged. Let me know if you have more questions. I will be glad to help you out.

      Appreciate your video, explained well.
      Still, mine will not stay running after using “Starting fluid”
      Machine is literally Brand New.
      It’s only run twice, once when delivered to move it and once trying it on snow before plows showed up.
      I suspect old fuel, but did put stabilizer in at one point and have only used “4-cycle TruFuel” in it.
      I have researched it and is not a fuel that goes”Bad” or so they say.
      Guess I’m in need of a couple other options/ procedures you might have or know.
      Also, primer never feels like its moving fuel, and with shroud off didn’t notice any fuel entering carburetor ( fuel switch is on…turned all the way clockwise)
      Any thoughts, suggestions or guidance would be appreciated
      Thank you
      Bob
