Last year i had the same thing, changed the oil, and new plug still would not start. Took to my local service within 2 hours found that the micro-switch had somehow moved and he adjusted it now runs perfectly again. I asume it didnt like the bumping around in the back of my jeep offroad....lol

Probably ran out of oil and connecting rod went too hot and melted. I am rebuilding on and after replacing the connecting rod, engine is smoking badly. Smoke may indicate bad piston rings or bad valves or valve seal. Will have to tear it down and analyze each engine part for signs of wear.

If anybody has come across this video and looked inside the alternator for burned wires and its not your problem. The oil level sensor connects to a oil alert CDI that is what shuts off the generator sometimes they go bad they are a 13 dollar part and once changed the generator should stay running. It has 4 wires the yellow wire goes to the oil level sensor then 2 black and 1 red, its bolted onto the side of the motor.

Thank you for sharing this repair video...I recently purchased one of these B&S inverter generators, so now I have some idea of how they come apart for future reference. I'm having some trouble with the telescoping handle pulling out, so I may have to modify or repair the mechanism inside...assembled in China, so I would expect more future problems. The spark plug is a bit difficult to get to, but I did get it out and it was not gapped properly from the factory. Otherwise, it runs pretty good so far!

Several questions.... What does the oil look like? Oil level too high? How many hours does it have on it? You can tell that by starting it and immediately looking at the green light on the panel; every time it flashes means 100 hours. I recently bought one of these for $185 from a pawn shop and didn't know that about the hour counter. :-( Now I have a generator that smokes (not as bad as yours). I've done the ATF & Acetone trick to try to free up stuck rings and clean other carbon in the combustion chamber. It didn't make a difference. I'll soon be tearing it down to put new rings and maybe a new piston in it.

Maybe i can ask you i have the same generator there is no electric out the hour meter does not even light up i cakled support they say the board/evm is bad almost $500 for new one dovtou know how to test the board any ideas thanks alot

Where you habd is at at 1:54 what is that part calles. I gad to bolts snap off and i cant get them drilled out

I’ve never commented on a video before, but sure enough when I loosened the bolt from the bottom of the carburetor to drain some of the gas out (which was yellowed), it started right up. Thanks a ton for this video!

I have the same model, I am not new to chainsaws. There is inherited problem either this model and no matter how tight is the chain it will come off then it will hit chain guard and this will damage chain driver link. I think the nose of the bar is not wide enough and this may have contributed the problem

My champion model 41534 won't start I did same took off and cleaned carburetor still won't start I a,so replaced the spark plug I had this problem b4 champion sent me a new complete carburetor

I just replaced the starter rope on my 1994 Homelite built in the USA trimmer. Then I went out and trimmed my yard. Had to rebuild the carb a couple of times due to the crap gas sold today. Think about it. It's 30 years old and functions perfectly. Yea, I could have bought a new one a couple of times but I feel keeping it out of the landfill and using my brain and doing some research, I can keep it going instead of buying a new throw away piece of junk made in China.

I think I have that same generator, it's 8000 running watts. It has about 20 hours on it over 2 years. Today it wouldn't start. I pulled the valve cover and the intake pushrod had detached from the rocker. I put it back together and it runs fine now, but why did this happen?

Is there a trick to getting the valve cover OUT? I pulled the rubber plug off that plastic frame strut, got the hose off the valve cover, and it still doesn't want to clear the frame and come out. Update: pulling the plastic strut and pushing the engine against mount slop gave enough clearance to rotate the valve cover clockwise, and weasel it out. 😊

Can't get the washer or nut back on for the inner bolt that holds the plastic on. This thing may be going to the dump.

I find it hard to believe that this is genuine , even if it is , there is no need to put the piston T.D.C. to set the valve clearance ( lash )

I'm confused, you had a drain on the plug and voltage regulator, The plug is connected to all the safety switches. Question is how to you know which one has the drain?

Dude, I'm likely in the same scenario as you. My chain break handle is broken so I'm waiting for a replacement but I'm noticing that same burning area around my clutch. How did it all turn out for you??

I did all that, it starts and stop, i see oil coming out the emission breather hose, is that okay

I bought my Predator 2000 new in March. After following all the break in instructions and only running good gas I was disappointed when it wouldn't start. I was really scratching my head when I confirmed spark and fuel, but it still wouldn't fire. Thank you for posting this video it saved me a ton of "trial and error" trouble shooting!

Hard start, what about decompression Port?

I had similar issue. Was hard to start and would surge up and down while running. Did the spark arrestor clean, and carb clean. Seemed to still surge, but would work. Finally wouldnt start and overload light would blink with nothing plugged in while pulling the starter rope. Seems my valves were too tight. Loosed both a bit and she runs. Thanks for the video.

Partner hit a metal gas cap in the lawn and it stopped working. I’m hoping it didn’t ruin the motor. Nothing on how to fix anywhere online.
