    I think a screen would be better for the top glass. You can remove it easily, it blocks the most heat, and I imagine it would help your sound system sound better.

    All tints, including ceramic, have particles that absorb heat like a sponge. Once the “sponge” is full, heat starts getting into the car again. (Remember high school physics: energy can’t be destroyed, only stored or converted) …… with the exception of 3M Crystalline, which has a patented nano optical layer that reflects heat back outside, thus keeping the car cool even under long duration under the sun. Of course, you pay through the nose, and only a few tint shops are authorized to install 3M Crystalline, because it requires additional skills and 3M certification.

      You can also get sunshades that you can easily put in and take out. The ones I have is basically a screen that lets in a little bit of sun through and it also comes with a solid cover to completely black it out.

    I don't like how the roof basically becomes a mirror with your tint. I would go lighter so you can still see the stars at night at least a little bit. I'm gonna get a Y and I'm thinking 50% everywhere, except maybe 35% in the front side windows for a little extra privacy.

    firsr all. Ceramic technology is absorbing heat instead of block heat (metal tint). So if you are going to tint your roof, the. You better be careful! Because ceramic tint has its limitation of heating absorbing! ( so at hot day , you park your car under sunlight for hours, ceramic will not work good as people said 99% IR block). Also you are risk of roof window potential of crack, because ceramic tint like what I said earlier, it will absorb heat, so all the heat will stuck in between the factory UV film and Ceramic tint, it will cause over heat. And eventually there is a chance the roof glass will crack due to over heat

    • @EverydayChris
      @EverydayChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Good to know. Yes still gets hot on hot days but after the interior cools the heat from the suns rays you don’t feel

    • @Mechaneer
      @Mechaneer 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a good question. I was thinking 50% on the back windows and roof, and 35% for the front windows so the overall look from the exterior is similar front and back, but I'm not sure because I don't own one yet and I haven't seen anyone do those numbers yet.

Thanks.

      @EverydayChris  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So i've had mine for over 2 years, over 50k miles and don't have any issues. After having xpel I'd probably go with xpel tint. First, xpel doens't have the rainbow effect when looking with polarized sunglasses. Second, the tint percentage I got on my Y is too dark, 5%, with the X i got like 15% so it's still dark enough. I also like the xpel and the color it provides as it's more of a charcoal grey. However, zero issues with rayno. It's been working great for me. The tint guy for the X also said he doesn't like rayno as it doesn't last long? But again, no issues on my side. up to you!

      Chris thank you! Your videos are amazing and have done more to make me order a model y white than anything else. I will be using all your affiliate links to get stuff! One question. I drove a Chevy Bolt today and with super cruise in interstates it had true no hands no feet driving. Camera on wheel made sure you kept eyes in road and even that system was more liberal than I was expecting. I am not one of those people who just wants a self driving car..but after using super cruise it’s obvious it’s safe to have cars self drive like that where you take control as needed… Do you think Tesla will ever engage a mode where you don’t need to touch the wheel? I know now there are cabin cameras. I hope this happens as I would have never expected GM to best Tesla to the hands free battle. What’s your thoughts? I understand that when the light is low (such as late afternoon or nearing sunset), ceramic films can give that feeling of being inside a dirty fish bowl. Or similar to a wildfire or smog outside even though there isn't any. I have 3M Ceramic IR on my car and I have this affect and don't like it. Curious if the Rayno S9 does this as well. Awesome video! Since you changed the tint in the back hatch, can you tell the difference between the look of the back hatch and the rear windows when looking at your car from the outside?

    • @EverydayChris
      @EverydayChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah. When it’s dark outside you can see inside where the screen is. But the privacy inside the trunk is fine. Only if there a bright screen on inside the car

    Hey Chris, awesome vid as always. I am looking to tint my Model Y and trying to figure out the best film between 3M Crystalline and Prestige Films Spectra PhotoSync IR. I live in sunny Arizona and want the best TSER along with good night time visibility. Appreciate your thoughts between the two films. Cheers!

      Hmm crystalline is solid but it’s a lighter tint. Not sure about prestige films but doing a quick search it looks legit!

  • @fccl1

    Hi there, is the tint going to trap heat on the roof glass and cause it to crack? or does it reflect most of the energy before it gets to the glass?

    • @EverydayChris
      @EverydayChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No cracking!! I feel like that’s a myth. It reflects the energy but it absorbs the heat so it gets crazy hot on hot days but if it can last in Arizona summer it’s good

      That’s NOT A MYTH, as I know who work in TESLA factories in Fremont and Austin, and they told me that they saw it THEMSELVES, that it CRACK after people put TINT on their sunroof.
      Only MORON will do that, as it KEEPS more the HEAT in the glass, as we already tested them, especially the new 2023 TESLA S,3, X, Y that can lessen the HEAT from the sun, period.
      I know your channel is making money from TH-cam BUT stop being like you know everything about Tesla, period.
