I’ve used the SmallRig power adapter as my primary powering solution for my P4K. I have to say, I’ve never really paid attention to how long an NPF 970 battery lasts for exactly when using it but it’s felt more than sufficient for over a year now. I’ve shot weddings, spec ads, corporate docs, etc. I use four NPF 970’s to get through an over 10 hour shoot without having to recycle the batteries. That 30 minutes lost does matter but in my case I’ve never been affected, I shoot 4K DCI BRAW in 5:1.
I guess it depends on your use case, but I've only raised this because it is an issue. I've come across a number of complaints and people are moving to other options such as the Tilta adapter. When I comment on products, it's always both the good and the bad. This is where many reviewers, who rely on manufacturer samples to make videos, often leave out the bad and leave it to buyers to find out for themselves. When a less expensive product is up to 20% more efficient than a premium product, that has to be brought out.
To help with consistency and repeatability, could you do the test with no internal battery and record in 4K BRAW at 5:1 compression. I don't know whether lower compression rates affect things, but I have a feeling that if recording in say 1080p, the battery life will be greater.
@@AustralianImage Good day eh. So here's what I found. I did not run any recording tests. Fully charged npf960/970 8.15v no load (PowerExtra brand) 12v output of SR 11.9v no load Same output not recording 11.5v loaded, P4K turned on P4K shows 11v on LCD Recording time would depend on the condition of the battery, age, internal resistance etc. Cheers
@@drumslapper The PowerExtra battery fully-charged state is a bit low, it should be around 8.4V. The adapter output of 11.5V is roughly what I get when recording. I suspect that you'll get much the same or less recording time than I did with my IDX batteries.
I’m using a smallrig battery plate with a weiper cable, it doesnt seem to power the camera without the internal battery, I think it could be because the battery plate is dead because my battery works just fine when testing with led lights, I got the 6k pro from someone with the battery plate and he ensured me that the battery plate might not work, can you tell me if your camera works with smallrig without the internal battery? If yes then my adapter is dead, if my adapter is dead, should i consider buying the same andoer one you have? ITs mentioned as suitable for bmpcc 4k, will it work on 6k pro too? Please if you can respond to this, need some real help.
And somehow you've got 140 views so you were able to help 140 people while the others are fooled by people with their affiliate links that give them a couple cents. The wrong people always get the attention!

Will the Andoer adapter work with the Blackmagic 6k Pro too?
Hmm...I have two of the SR units running a GH5 and P4K. I'll check mine for compliance. Thanks.

I still don't understand which adapter is better suited to the SmallRig cage? Tell me please.

Even if I helped one person I'm happy and even better if it made SmallRig rethink their products.
