One year ago I bought an original top case and paid to configure the key into the top case. Now I bought the 2 side bags and found your video. I TOTALLY MADE IT ALL BY MYSELF WITH YOUR VIDEO!! You made it very clear, the demo video, your English is easily understandable. Thank you a lot, I saved 60€ 😂
I'm glad, I'm a warrior against stupid charges for things that should be included. If you buy $1000 worth of bags and hardware the key configuration should be included 😆👍
I have the exact same side panniers, but my OEM top case is much different. The side pannier does not wiggle like yours does. Maybe your bottom slot is not fitted right? The right pannier doesn't hold much and when you stack items in it, they tend to fall out when you open the side panel and it's tricky to close without everything falling out. I use it for keeping things I don't often need to access quickly like tools, rain suit and some camping items. The left pannier has more room and works best if you can find a cooler bag that fits perfectly inside. Then when you stop you can simply remove the bag and take it to a picnic table or up to your hotel room. I Use it mainly for keeping food items and some clothing in a separate bag inside. I wouldn't waste all that pannier space to put a helmet inside, but hey, to each their own choice! After a drop or two, the pannier lid will get out of alignment and will be much harder to properly close. Mine still does, but with stuff in it, has become more difficult and takes some effort.
I have an ST1300 and my only complaint with the luggage system (same as the Africa Twin) is that you can’t have both panniers open at the same time. :). That being said, I agree with the benefit of knowing that if I have the key, the panniers are secure and locked.
Hello Albe, so happy to see your video as always, still can’t thank you enough for uploading the quickshifter video. And What’s the brand of your crash guards you are using?
Really nice video and well explained. The biggest advantage is not to have any ugly brackets on the bike when the panniers are not mounted. What kind of top case do you have?
Have you got the rubber block that mounts on the pillion footrest bracket the right way round? Mine doesn’t have the retaining screw visible from the outside. Maybe that retaking screw is supposed to be on the inside nearest the wheel? Might be why you have a bit of free play on your side panniers?
Hi, it is on the inside, the camera was shooting from the opposite side (camera on the left to shoot the right side across the wheel). The rubber stop is somewhat triangular and will not fit any other way. 😀👍
Does anyone know if there’s a universal type rack for this considering how easy it is to take on and off? For example maybe I could get said rack for my CB 500 X and then be able to swap it between bikes? I feel that would be very, very useful.
Hi Albe, can you please provide more details on your top box installation? What is the box you are using and did you mount it directly on the AT rear rack or you added an extra rear rack on top of it?
Since I keep getting asked this question I guess I have no choice but make a video about it 😀, look for it in about 2 weeks, I'll put all the details, how, where and why.
@@AlbesADV - Thank you. Your heed install really helped - i dint finish the install due to a worn out bolt which i culd not remove. unfortunately same weekend I had a small fall and scratched my fairing :( :( -
i'm thinking of getting these side panniers as well, as they don't need any carriers or anything like that to attach them to the bike, they just look world class. but - i've already read a lot about problems when there are passengers on board and when i ride with side panniers, there are always two of us (e.g. the legs or feet are up against the panniers and riding along becomes very uncomfortable). what about your experience in this respect? they are certainly ideal for solo use.
I love the panniers but I do ride solo 99% of the time, the heels of your passenger will touch the panniers for sure, on the other hand most panniers will get in the way, it really becomes a matter of preference
@@AlbesADV thanks a lot for your qick reply albe, then i will probably use the touratech pannier system, because the carriers are built about 7 cm backwards, which means more space for the passenger's feet ;-)
I am looking at getting these panniers with a 2024 AT. How well does a passenger fit on the bike with the panniers installed? Is there lots of room? Do their legs touch the panniers? Foot room on the Pegs?
Yes, it's not easy but it's doable, you have to go at it from inside the bag to be able to remove the key cylinder then you re-key it just like in the video 👍
Why can't the make panniers like this that open from the top! I don't want more space on the exhaust side if it makes then bike unbalanced in both weight & width!

I bought this panniers this year and I‘m currently on my 2nd trip with them 👍🏻
I like them very much 🏍😎
They look great Albe.... Honda always made quality equipment.
They do 👍

I agree, I thought about that after I published the video 😆
HA!! I just got and installed these last week. Good and accurate review and install.
Thanks Nick 😀👍

They look like the bunker silver crash bars from HEED.
They are, there should be a link under the video or on the garage tab of my website AlbesADV.com 😀👍
Perfect video witch I needed
Really nice video and well explained. The biggest advantage is not to have any ugly brackets on the bike when the panniers are not mounted. What kind of top case do you have?
I agree,
As a top case I just bolted a light pelican case to the OEM plate, light and small enough to stay on the bike at all times

Good evening, thanks for the video. The passenger's feet in contact with the side plastic suitcase when sitting?

Hi, yes, the heal touches the case, unless it’s somebody with very small feet
Superb👍🏴
good video "pizza hawaii". listen, how do u see it when you crash? they gonna go apart!?!
Yes, I'm pretty sure they will

The passenger legs somewhat touch the bags, enough room for feet on the pegs unless you wear a size14 shoe, I'm pretty happy with mine.
are the key cylinder included or you had to pay extra ?
They were included, but double check with whomever you buy them from, some dealers will make you pay extra
Could I retro fit these to fit on metal pannier racks on another bike?
Probably, it might require some welding and/or machining
Can they fit on the 2016-2018 bikes?
I don't think so, but there should be a set made just for the 2016-2018 year model
grazie per tutti
Grazie a te David 😀👍

hell, now I saw the price 😪😪😥😥
Yup, pretty expensive like most panniers 🤷

Very strong plastic 😆
Soft bag are probably the way to go if you are not worried about not being able to lock them
