For me the nightmare incursions was a huge mistake totally ruined the leveling experience
It's just a reputation of which you can buy rewards from. Realistically you do not have to do it at all. You can farm open world mobs for exp, you can do quests, you can dungeon spam, and you can do incursions. It's not as if it's a forced endeavor. I'm not disagreeing that it was bad, it really is mid af. But realistically we just choose to because it has temporary best in slot gear items. I agree with what your saying but leveling is not entirely ruined because of it. It's just more efficient than typical quest leveling that send you all around the world due to outleveling zones or the quest requiring such.
Just try to remember that this is simply a seasonal mode. It's not permanent, and what's to come of all your progress is yet to even be announced. They may very well send you to dead era servers or a new SoD exclusive server which inevitably will die out too. So in my opinion leveling shouldn't be so drawn out, or hard at all. This is basically a private server at this point. In terms of quality and concept.
If they choose to include it going forward, it can't be by far the best way to gear up, level and make gold at the same time. It's ridiculously overtuned given it's incredibly boring content. I can see what they were trying to do with it, and maybe there's a world where people weren't doing loops constantly with add-ons where it could have been fun - but that's not the world we're in. It's hyperoptimised and draws so many players away from the open world to just do tedious loops. I only really grinded them for a couple of hours on one toon but I wish they weren't added.
Understand the point that they're not mandatory but I just haven't seen anyone who actually thinks they are fun. If their only merit is being a good way to gear, level and farm gold, it's hard to justify their ongoing inclusion.
I remember the first few days people made thousands of gold from Incursions.

If world bosses had spawned 3x a day the top guilds wouldve just gotten 3 kills per day. It wouldnt have changed anything for the average player.
They would get saved to the boss though and not need to kill it again haha
@@MetaGoblin that would be an interesting way to change it, but top guilds will all have alts that they can use to farm a world boss 3x a day still haha. They made making alts way too easy in SoD.

most of the rune abilities in SoD are just retail abilities / talents. it's kind of ruins the classic wow design feeling

It has been a much needed fix, I'm glad they finally decided to change it.
Holy paladins so shafted again. Instead of a light of dawn rune, sheath of light gets completely nerfed lol. We're already the worst healers. They give druids tree form and priests free pw:s spam. But nerf holy paladins because we were way too strong I guess!

What class will you be playing in sod?
As a classic era player, none of this is anywhere near the direction I was hoping Blizzard would take but I'm not surprised about it. Vanilla needed fine tuning and additional content based on the original ideas and missing zones / dungeons, not turning it on its head. The essence of the original game is getting completely lost.
Give us Emerald dream, Kalimdor Titan Vault, Classic Karazhan and a Scarlet Crusade Raid with an obtainable Ashbringer
it was never going to be based on the original ideas because the people who understood the vision for the game are already gone. besides, a game in the style of classic wow wouldnt work now, we've ruined ourselves and would literally not be able to let ourselves enjoy it (maybe not all of us but many). the best thing that couldve ever come out of classic and sod was the current team learning from their predecessors and taking time to try to build upon that with their own vision. they will take what they've learned from trying new things in sod and put them into retail.
also ill say this - the players that actually still play wow and dont complain about it on forums, etc, aren't the kind of people who want to immerse themselves in the world and go on adventures. what they want is to do big damage, top the meters, get the parses, kill the bosses, collect the cheevos. but this isn't just what they want, it's what they've been trained to want.
Hell yes someone who understands! Couldnt agree more. SoD wouldve been 100x better if they were unlocking new zones, adding new quest/storylines and building up old ones that never got finished in vanilla. The bones were all there to build off of, and they just went full retard instead. Devs are so far off what vanilla/classic players want.
the issue is if you read the comments the complaints has been sod is way too different then classic, lost the classic feel. sod raid p1 is too easy. sod raid p2 is too difficult. raid nerf - is too easy. sod p3 raid is too difficult. raid nerf - its too easy. p4 underwhelming changes. same as classic with minor difficulty changes. like, you cant please anyone. the constant contradictory feedback is mind numbing to deal with as a dev im sure
@@inkbyfrank you're completely right, no matter what they do the complainers are gonna complain louder. This is pretty true with most things anyways. I've been playing wow off and on for 20 years and have never taken to forums to whine, I don't get it. I've also quit the game for 8 years straight due to the state of the game.
Warlocks have been playing the same crap since PH1 without really any change, honestly boring.

@@MetaGoblin fr, i get maybe the balance issues around affi and the dot system, but honestly anything at this stage is better, i'd even accept a hybrid affi/demo build that buffs pet damage with maybe demonbolt or something being introduced. legit anything.

testing pvp on the ptr i noticed pallies are the hardest to fight atm, even worse then shammies and rogues

TLDR - no SODis not back and its still trash, P4 is underwhelming as fuck in the aspects it needs to change and overbearing in the aspects it doesn't

Sorry to say but you need a lot of shit done to get raid ready. I stoped playing after P1 with 5 lvl 25 cause of the time investment getting steeper

No 40 man raids, bind to account stuff, heroic difficulties, so its basically just retail version 2.
They completely gutted even the possible option of 40man, not even a choice in the matter.
Mages need to change, in BGs all i can do is living bomb, the odd polymorph and then I try to cast a frostfire bolt and i have to move before I finish casting otherwise i get clapped.
They mentioned they'll be changing mages quite a lot.

Those new warlock runes really suck. I have to use an ability on a 15 sec CD to get a shadowbolt crit...that ability also burns my shards. I have a crappy guild...so wiping is a real thing.
Won't have the shards for it...and a shadowbolt crit every 15-20 seconds is really crap.
I hope they rework all of the Lock runes because they REALLY are hot garbage.

Every phase they add tons of layers of complexity to classes and encounters. So many of the sod classes now feel like cata classes. Thats not the spirit of vanilla. I think having a few gimmicks for each spec is fine. And this is coming from someone who gets 95 parses on a competitive spec(enhancement shaman). I worry they will make raids too difficult and more guilds/pugs will give up. Also the balancing is getting wacky. They just nerfed enhancement shaman into the absolute ground while buffing every other melee(warriors are looking absolutely insane). Meanwhile casters dont look to be doing great either.

Idk sod needed some big changes and interesting content this shit just seems underwhelming. Why would you play higher number Molten Core with 2-3 abilities when you have cata classic with both good class and raid designs?
no, sod shouldve been way more vanilla based with only a few class changes/fixes to even things out, and the majority of the changes shouldve come via new zones/dungeons/raids (at 60 at least). It shouldve been more of a classic+ type of idea than a lets throw in every ability from tbc/wrath/cata and have everything be completely retarded and impossible to control.
LfR, LfD, flying, no class identity, most rpg elements removed, bland and uninspired loot, etc. pp.... cata is literally retail with less content and worse class design at this point.
The only good thing from cata was the leveling experience. Played the og cata 3000 years ago, and i dont want to go back. Classic shouldve ended with wrath.

I have a different take.......i think streamers (no offense just my opinion) are pushing the "gotta get to end game as fast as I can because that is all that matters" narrative. IMO the seasons are being released way to fast and I think that is a result of people believing end game is all that matters AND they will do anything to get there as fast as they can including buying gold and paying for carries. I hate to be this guy BUT i can remember a time that gold actually mattered. In times like this (as you say no content) people would still be questing and farming to make enough gold for spells and to save for epic mount. That process seems to have died with the new concept of I will buy gold to buy best gear to speed my leveling experience to max level, if not pay for carries, then complete raid and buy the best gear from it (either deals with loot master or GDKPs) then go play something else.
i don't get that concept of paying money to bypass a game you payed money to play but that seems to be the norm in WoW.

PTR is so much better than the regular server. No time wasted on slow dumb leveling.
with xp buff and op skills and you still complain that leveling takes too long, mmos are not for you
@@diemarihalt9490 If the XP buff was 200 percent I might reconsider. I play like 5 different MMOs right now and they all have good leveling speed. SoD still has the 2004 mindset of stealing people money for subs by making everything slow.
I think it’s too late at this point. I’m getting to 60 then letting my account expire. My guild went from healthy 2 months ago to dead today. I appreciate the new content but just not interested right now with no guild and summer upon us. That said I can almost guarantee I’ll be back in late September to try this new stuff.
I loved phase 1. Enjoyed phase 2. Stoped playing during the phase 3 draught. Will nit be coming back for phase 4. Fuck 20 man raids and fuck 40 mam raids
this phase is gonna fail hard. people will play it for a week or two max. phase 1 was the only good phase because everyone started together in noobie zones and it was easy. with how gate keepy things are now who the f wants to play this when its all a bunch of sweats. lmao

The most fun I had in classic was around world bosses, all from the teamwork of scouting for them with the guild, making weakauras to help with scouting and notifying guild to fighting off the horde and the faction politics involved. This wont happen so im not coming back for P4 it seems.
these class changes are garbage. Having this race change is garbage for anyone who chose to play human. This alone is almost making me decide not to come back to p4 at all.
I've already canceled my sub. This is too little too late and I have lost all faith in the dev team

Sod has been dead since p3. Well not really dead since some people still play but compared to the p1 hype it looks pretty bad right now. Also things like incursions etc were just the biggest trash and the fact that once again stv will be pvp event for the 3rd time now and theres no announcements for new content so far is just terrible. People rather play cata or even classic era than this bullshit.
Paladins getting so many changes isn't a good thing. It means the class was broken and bad as fuck. It's especially worse considering it effects Alliance vs Horde balance. Now with the racial changes Horde continue to get love and Alliance get crapped on again. This dev team wouldn't know faction balance if it slapped them in the face.

Yeah man, I don’t like the world boss changes. And im not excited about raid difficulty’s in the same raid. So basically is lazy and recycling content to keep people happy rather than add new content( this is the main reason why I quit retail ) and if this effects player power I will not continue on with SOD. Recycling raid content could be done in such a better way. Such as retails new awakened system is sooo much better. Anyways I really hope they rethink this decision. I can handle class changes and runes and STV and incursions, but I cannot do the 3-4 different difficulty’s in a single raid. They need to just come up with both content for all players. The dads need easy content and the nerds need harder content. It has to be different and unique. Think TBC raid content system (easily the best time for raiding in wows history) having a balance from 10m unique raids and then harder 25m unique raid.
Iplayed season 1 enjoyed it...but then i realized....nothing i did was going to stick....this is a seasonal thing....so i stopped playing and will wait til actual classic +

@@alexanderpondarius8586 ok hear me out. What is classic+? Everytime i ask people this, i get different answers. How is blizzard supposed to make that happen? And are you in the slightest aware what amount of development AN ACTUAL project of that size would require? They'd have to hire an entire game studio's worth of employees. Classic+ as in an entire new game with new content in development is an absurd financial investment and the risk of it not hitting is massive. The reason for that being that everyone has an entirely different view of what classic+ is supposed to be. Some want new classes, some want no changes but new content. Some want new content but more challenge. Like, if you ask 500 people youll get 250 different ideas of what classic+ is supposed to be. It just makes no financial sense to do any project of that size. The easier route is bringing seasonal games like sod, have the vanilla enjoyers get their fresh dopamine for a couple of months before they get bored and want fresh again, keep cata up cuz thats a save bet going into mop, develop retail and thats it.

More nerfs to shaman again. Paladin can bubble heal and attack but they removed maelstrom granting insta heals? Plus all his damage reduced while bubble from paladins and infinite stuns from rogues. This game is so dumb. Pvp is such a joke compared to other games where there is pvp. Most wow pvp is one party being stunned for most of the "fight". Screw this game.
There too many min maxers. Its really hard to get into a raid without 1,000 requirements. Dungeons, even at this point.
SOD is such a shit version of the game. I unsubscribed. Devs are completely out of touch with what the players want.
