I think the travel times are fine as long as you aren't in a system that has destinations 100k+ls away, and it should tell you how far away missions are in the mission board.

Imagine if they did implement some sort of in-ship gaming system (not only in taxis). Mission rewards - Materials, Goods, Reputation or Frogger. They could even open it up with an SDK to allow us to develop our own plug ins (thinking EDDB plug in, for e.g.) they could even sell some for Arx...

Watching Exigeous' first Odyssey stream was surreal. Hearing his voice say "what the fuck am I supposed to do here?" sent painful feelings of discomfort through my body. I got frustrated at one point watching him flounder and actually said out loud, "jesus just pull up the exigeous guide and you'll... oh wait." Brings into sharp focus the fact that you, just like all the rest of us, had to make sense of these mechanics before anyone knew how to use them. Adds even more appreciation for the amazing guides you put out that help alleviate that learning curve.

I got confused and tired of dealing with it yesterday because I thought I was doing something wrong, but once I tried solo mode I put two and two together lol
Once you got the Maveric suit...go for the support missions. Where your asked to bring back the power to a station, those pay around 200.K credits. Nice boost, because a decent main gun has the same costs of the maveric suit. And once your fully suited/equiped...go for the scavanger missions, Collect various random items allong the way so you can potentially upgrade a weapon or suit ;) Or just plainly sell them to the barkeeper for some quick dirty cash.
@@Exigeous Funny thing I noticed with the "Restore Power" mission, you often get a very high acces clearance (3). So I'm not sure it's a bug, but you can interact with a panel, find any of the lockers with code + the actual acces code. So after you restored the power....just plunder as much as possible.
When I started Alpha I didnt do transport mission. I did one to take the energy reactor which was 350k credits or something. Go there, clone credentials, zap enemies while in "stealth" (crouched) and leave. That should be your first mission to get Mavericks suit and Karma AR in one go. The game is quite easy if you know what you are doing. Same for combat. Just sit next a ammo crate and melt all NPCs with the AR. I took threat lvl 4 missions and defeated security patrols with max ranks without a problem. They should make AI harder or make ammo crates with 1x reload only to make you move, otherwise you camp on an ammo crate and its easy game. Edit: oh, and play smart, pick 10 missions but focus on the one closest to you, abandon all the rest and you will travel in no time as well I already did Mavericks upgrade. Time for weapon upgrade o7
Very much disagree as while yes, you can make good credits that way they are WAY more dangerous and the odds of success are MUCH lower. IMHO that's your second mission, after you've upgraded to the Maverick.
Right now my main thought is that Odyssey has promise, but in it's present state it doesn't really interest me just yet. I am looking forward to seeing the changes for myself in a little while, but I'm waiting on pre-purchasing for various reasons, with the biggest one being I can't afford it right now. It's tempting, but I want to see things ironed out a touch more before I look into it. Odds are I'll wait it out until the beta period, as that should hopefully clear up a lot of the glaring issues that are there right now. ...Oh, and in the meantime, I'm exploring, so it's also a case of trying to get to Tenebrae, look and putter around for a bit, visit DSSA Deus Vult, and then after that, who knows... Beagle Point, somewhere in The Void, and Sagittarius A*. Haven't really decided yet. It's moderately tempting to try out on my alt since he's literally not really gotten all that far in the game, but we shall see. I'd have to figure out how to have a semi-reasonable setup where I can use keyboard and mouse but readily/easily switch back to using a HOTAS for flying on my main.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial because many people are totally lost on this alpha. Elite is a pretty complex game that doesn't take you by the hand, but I think Frontier is overdoing it a bit. They should explain the missions a bit better.
Same here! Performance is absolutely horrible for me. Reducing resolution improved the situation somewhat. I think this is due to a lack of optimization and should improve in the future.

I'm running a i9 10900k OCed @ 5.2Ghz, 32GB DDR4, NVMe and OCed/liquid 2080Ti - at 3840x1080 (dual 1080p) I'm getting a pretty steady 60 with drops to the low 40s (G-SYNC FTW). I think things are capped in some way due to debug code and that's why we're seeing similar - that said a 3070 is a bit slower than a 2080ti so that makes sense.
Keeping up with all the tutorials and reviews and also knowing the games history, why would I want to buy this next season (other than to keep up with my friends), I am super unimpressed so far, really struggling to see why I want to make the purchase... :/
Just one tip you forgot to say, take a look at the threat level of the missions. There are lvls 0 to 5 and many of then pay the same. So take ones with low threat levels too ;)
I am unable to play a Private Game with my friend. We play in Horizons all the time, but no matter what we try.. him joining my group or visa-versa, we can't seem to join and see each other in Odyssey. Any ideas?

One important question, when Oddysey final is released, do all commanders start with 0 credits ? I thought oddysey will be a part of Elite dangerous as it is and I can use my credits I already earned.
That depends entirely on the mission you're doing - if you have a bounty (and many missions give you this) and they scan you they instantly attack and kill you.
Absolutely but I found that for the early missions since you're somewhat likely to fail them take one at a time until you know what you're doing but sure you can jump in with both feet.

Too busy playing elite and loading up on engineering materials to play alpha. I expect them to brake most sites we love and know for those easy materials when they release Odyssey.
Yeah, if you think that this is absolutely the wrong channel for you I'm sorry to say. The entire goal of my channel is to have the clearest, most concise content as possible so you can watch less and play more. That's why I have the progress bar at the top and chapter markers where you can use the pause and rewind features in TH-cam to re-watch anything you need. If you want a channel that drones on, making long content to hit TH-cam numbers there are plenty of other channels that are happy to waste your time, sorry but you won't find that here.
Do you know that you can reduce the playback speed in TH-cam? You could do that. Or pause. I love Exigeous‘s videos exactly FOR that. Other people‘s videos drag on so long unnecessarily to artificially make them longer and place more ads - you won’t find that here.

This time is stuck out as I just watched the live stream and you were trying to rein in Yamiks only to be sarcastic about the journey time in this vid. Did you disagree about the ship/module transfer too? :p The only way that it could be resolved is to make the journey instant or in some way shorter, the only problem with that is you'll get some ppl complaining saying that "ain't fare as I have to use my ship to travel the distance and it not short for me" or something along those lines. It would be helpful if, like in the live game, the destination would show the distance of the mission you're taking (iirc it only shows it ly at the moment).
those mission's at the moment are either hit or miss , their are not predictable...too much broken, I know it's alpha it's what I have predicted , but it's more frustrating than Fun for me we don't have any clue what we expect , after waiting 10 to 15 minutes doing nothing on the Apex taxi and die 1 minute after!!! it's the worse mistake to punish a player!! has a game design point of view ...I wait phase 2

If you get to the crate and its already been opened/the item is gone, relogging should fix it.

Why is every mission some illegal thief thing where you get scanned and murdered? Are there any ordinary legal missions at all?
There are yes, but I agree it's frustrating not to know/realize you are doing something illegal as I've died MANY times due to that.
Luckily for most of us already playing regular Elite, we'll have more than enough credits to buy whatever suits and weapons we want from the get go.

What specs and/or graphics settings at sup using? RTX 3070 gets me only 60FPS in space, 5-20FPS on planets and station interiors

No, not in the first phase of alpha, there are no ships at all yet. Those will come next week.

From what we can tell so far this is pretty meaningless. I've completed thread 6 missions easily and gotten wrecked in threat 0 ones.

In week/phase 4 of alpha we get all out ships/credits/etc from production. However as for console they haven't said other than "in the fall".
