The cute little white flowers are bulbs called snow drops, you have a lot of what would be considered weeds, the yellow little flowers carpeting everything is oxalis, they have bulbs and yes the orange flowers are weeds but at least they are easy to thin out. Mint can also be invasive so keep them in a pot. The canvas on your butterfly chairs will likely clean up if you spray a bleach on them. All your cactus are struggling because of the rain, if you could concentrate them in a part of the garden that is hot and dry would be good. The garden certainly is a big and ongoing task.
thank you for that! I kind of love the pretty weeds haha but definitely needs to be maintained. the yard IS such a huge project that will definitely take some time!
Good luck with your garden. It has tons of potential and you are definitely someone who has lots of great ideas. The yellow clover is oxalis. The purple daisy is gazania. The strappy leaves that bloom look like day lilies. The blue flowers are vineca or periwinkle. The bushes with the pretty pink flowers are camellias. The bush with purple blue flowers is ceanothus aka California lilac. Nasturtium tastes kind of peppery and hot. It might be an acquired taste, but I love nibbling the flowers and leaves as I wander thru the garden. You can also eat the seed pods. Seed pods can be pickled as a caper substitute. The yellow wildflowers are zinnias. The "radishes" are wild radish, yes edible when harvested young. Wild radish flowers can be used in salads to add a radish taste. Be careful about "fertilizing non-stop" because some plants don't actually like a lot of fertilizer. Over fertilization can cause certain plants to become leggy and can burn others. Having said that, oranges will get sweeter if fertilized with a citrus fertilizer. I encourage you to get a standard bird bath bowl. Small birds can drown in deep water so either put some flat rocks in the bottom so they can have a place to perch while drinking or splashing. Better yet, try to find a wide shallow bowl like a pasta bowl for bird safety.
The bush with the pink flowers that make a mess is a camellia. We love them in NC because they are about the only bush/tree that flowers in the winter. Some people (my mother) call it a japonica bush. Nobody around here worries about the shedding petals, but if they bother you, just blow them away with a leaf blower. I wouldn't get rid of the canvas chairs. I would get me some WD-40 at the hardware store and start working on those joints. $85 sounds about right for new chair covers, especially if they are made out of a "Sunbrella" type fabric. And, lastly, get them out of the sun and weather----they would be so perfect on your breezeway/porch. Mow a pathway through those invasive plants (which includes the yellow-flowered clover) and edge them with flexible garden edging and then keep the path raked. The bird bath is great----I think you need a bird house---maybe right in the middle of those invasive plants---put the birds to work on those seeds ☺
I got the pattern for my birdhouse from one of my brothers' old Cub Scout Handbooks, but you can get a pattern online. My advice: keep it simple. I used scrap lumber and leftover paint. The only thing I bought was an 8-foot 4x4 treated, wooden post and a dowel stick for the perch. I cut a 6x6 square piece of scrap 2x6 for a kind of porch and attached it to the top of the 4x4 to give it dimension and attached the birdhouse to the porch with L-straps. You'll need to sink the post in the ground at least 2 and 1/2 feet---post-hole diggers work best because they keep the hole tight---I got my post-hole diggers at the thrift store, believe it or not. The hole in the birdhouse will look small, but trust me, it's that way for the birds' safety and they won't move in if it's too big. I have bluebirds in mine every year. @@livingwithlk 😄
You’re so innovative, and it looks great. btw The two ends tables are IKEA, there are so many ways people have hacked them, placing wood rounds on the bottom or round baskets. Enjoy your new space!
Yes, paint it turquoise ❤ and if you dont want the Ivy, youll have to dig it all up. Its pretty and has its uses but I dont like it climbing on my house or fences
I’m thinking that’s the move! 😊 Also I thought we dug it up but we obviously left traces 🫠 I do think it’s pretty too but it’s too much! it takes over everything
The wall has a very clear horizontal division. Why not paint the bottom blue (for a cohesive yard) and paint the top white (to enhance the light). The pretty little purply blue flowers are vinca, a ground cover. Vinca minor rarely gets above 3" to 4" tall, so my guess is you have a stray patch of Vinca major (which is about 15" to 18" tall. Lovely work - lovely aesthetic, although I would cut back on the oxalis - the little yellow flowered ground cover. It can be quite invasive and will choke everything else out (think of it as ivy's better-looking cousin).
A suggestion I have seen on several yard makeovers painting the fence black it looks so expensive and great back drop for the plants If I still had a backyard that's what I want
Great back yard. I'm a flower gardener, I find it very relaxing. A couple of suggestions. I don't think roses do well in pots and maybe some of the other trees, like shrubs.
Thank you! I am growing a rose in the ground and its actually growing slower than the potted one.. its good to experiment! I am so new to gardening so I appreciate all the tips and input! 😊
Love the wild vibe. I like your bird bath better than Lowes. I am ordering the bird bath fountain. I ordered and received the battery light bulbs as you suggested Love them. You have the best ideas! Keep em comin!
I have the same little fountain but I wouldn't buy a bird bath for it because it's too shallow and it hits the edges and stops the deep bowl is so much better and it stays a lot cleaner, I love your yard that's my dream yard.
@livingwithlk yeah, but they spread by runners above ground. Cut back the runners if you want to keep them or they will take over. I don't know if you have mosquitos but they hold a lot of them in their leaves. What a difference rain after a drought can do. Hope you don't have mosquitos because all of that lushness will hide them well.
The nasturtium flowers taste quite peppery, most people use them as a garnish on salads. I grow them for that but also they are a great food for caterpillar's, which in turn bring in the birds. The ones that survive turn into lovely butterflies. The blue flowering shrub is a ceanothus ( Californian lilac) and the small white flower with the green pattern is a Leucojum ( summer snowflake ) the yellowish daisy like flower ia a Marigold 👍
I am sorry, I misspoke, they are calendula, and are sometimes called pot marigold, but they are not like any real marigolds that I know of. Also calendula can be used to make tea, I believe.
Yes, I'm in Ontario. I keep it in a pot as I learned from experience, not to put it in the ground. I then take the pot into the garage for winter, trim it in the spring, and it all comes back. Tough plant!
@epicgardening and @jacquesinthegarden are some of my fav TH-cam gardeners. Would be awesome if they were interested in a collab, your space has so much potential.
🤓What do you think of the weeded meadow vibe in the yard? I kind of like how wild it is!
this is awesome!!

Camellias look stunning floating in a pretty glass bowl🥰
Your garden is so peaceful and beautiful💞
Your yard is magical! So excited to see updates. Thanks for your videos!
It totally is!! 😍 New update tomorrow morning! 😊

Thank you for this!! I love the idea of a bird house! Is there any kind of specific one??

Don't put a perch near the entrance hole. It makes it easy for predators to steal any chicks while the parents are away
I love this wild garden!
Me too!
Your backyard is so, so cool. It's enormous too! Loved the tour, thanks.
It really is! Thanks!

The cute little white flower just before 12:41 looks like it might be lily of the valley
ohhh I think you’re right! thank you!
Snowdrop
Yes, I believe snowdrops, not lily of the valley.
Such a great transformation ❤

Love them. You have the best ideas! Keep em comin!
Aw that's awesome thank you!! I'm so glad its working for you! 😍
I love wild gardens, when they’re also well kept.
I think the fence should be turquoise!
I have the same little fountain but I wouldn't buy a bird bath for it because it's too shallow and it hits the edges and stops the deep bowl is so much better and it stays a lot cleaner, I love your yard that's my dream yard.
Ah good point! Thank you!😍
How relaxing! I think I'd power wash the wall first . You've got a great head start
Great idea!
Looks great! Definitely put the mint in a pot or your whole yard will be mint! We learned this the hard way 😅
Haha that’s what I keep hearing! Thank you!
The tree with purple blooms is a butterfly bush.
5:32 is the naked lady foliage (pink lily flowers)
OHHH that’s it. I see on google now it provides us with those pink flowers in the summer. what an interesting plant!
I L❤VE A BREEZEWAY🎉😂 you can stain the concrete to look like flagstone !! Don't use paint, wood stain works, concrete stain too.
Purple little flowers are vinca
Oh periwinkle! Thank you! It’s so pretty 😍
@livingwithlk yeah, but they spread by runners above ground. Cut back the runners if you want to keep them or they will take over. I don't know if you have mosquitos but they hold a lot of them in their leaves.

No, the yellow like flower is a zinnia. They are annuals in the east. Don't know how long they grow in California.
I am sorry, I misspoke, they are calendula, and are sometimes called pot marigold, but they are not like any real marigolds that I know of.

Could use some idea for a front yard redo …can you help
Paint it white! The blue detracts from the pretty plants
I’m so torn! Leaning toward blue but this is a good point!
@@livingwithlk blue is so cute too! You have a better scope of the space- can’t quite tell what the whole layout is. Both would be great :)
What do you used to editing your videos? I love how you edited. Thanks
Hey thanks! I use final cut!
Don't get rid of those pretty flowering trees. Deadhead them.. it will encourage more growth and you can also have pretty flowers inside
Oh i would never get rid of them! They’re just annoying haha but so pretty too!
@livingwithlk do a compost. If you don't have mulch, blow all the crap out into a small section so its easier to collect
TURQUOISE or a DEEP GREEN paint!!
Plums have a 7 year gap in between crops I think.
Oh wow! I had no idea.. its finally flowering and getting some green leaves so I'm excited to see what happens haha - thank you!
Whatever you do, do NOT plant that mint in the ground. 😅 A pot is best.
Haha thank you! I’ve gotten so many warnings now 😬 It’s in a pot now!🥰
Yes, I'm in Ontario. I keep it in a pot as I learned from experience, not to put it in the ground.

On the wall use a concrete stain not paint to add color, no maintenence withbthe stain 😂

Yes! Been following them forever and I've always dreamed about them coming over to create a green house and turn this backyard into a homestead haha
