Are we too easy on CoD? This is a very fair review but a 7 score feels too high. The campaign and zombies are both pretty dull compared to series highs, and the multiplayer doesn’t do much new. This series has had so much time in the spotlight, so to produce something decidedly average in the context of the franchise deserves a lower score in my opinion.
Gameplay is still king. And as long as COD still has that same solid shooting, it'll deserve a 7 at minimum. That may be boring and not enough to lure in you or me after so many years, but that doesn't actually make it a bad game. Just because we'd like it to get more creative doesn't mean the product actually being sold is subpar.

I haven’t played CoD since Black Ops 1 on Xbox 360, and I’ve been jonesing to play one lately. The question is, out of all the entries on PS4, which is the best to pick up?
I don't know how serious people are about the 7 being a high score, but we can't just compare COD entries in a bubble. If you look at the entire product, it's still a decent game on its own. High production value barring some bugs and a fair amount of content. It's just that some of the previous entries were indeed better and regardless, it's not pushing the genre or spicing things up a lot so from my outside perspective, the score Huber gave seems pretty accurate. A 5 or whatever would mean a completely broken entry IMO.
Both CoD and Battlefield just feel hollow at this point.
