It had bad paint and the dude said it needed a starter and that someone "stole" the cats even though there's no way someone could easily steal the cats off that car. My friend's brother ended up buying it though and haven't found one that cheap since

Also I got mine for cheap because of the circumstances the seller had. He moved out of state not long ago but left his gs300 here. Was very desperate to sell it and had a 3 hour window to get it sold because he was in state for a very short amount of time

I know. I was this close to getting an 09 P71 for 4k with 125k miles on it. Ended up getting a 2013 v6 charger with 77k miles on it for double the price.
I sometimes regret not buying the Crown Vic, it’s a beautiful car for a really cheap price.

I swear everyone forgets the Crown Vic exists when they make these. You can easily pick up retired police units for around the $2k mark and they are extremely reliable. Plus they share the same 4.6 2v as the sn95 mustang so they are relatively cheap to upgrade.

Can confirm on the old chargers, I had a Chrysler 300 2007 with the 3.5l that wouldn’t die on me no matter how much I abused it. I ended up trading it, but as long as you get a v6 with a 3.5 and not the 2.7 you should be fine. Oh and try to get them with the 5 speed auto stick, it’s a lot more fun than the 4 speed with a low gear.
How many miles did you have on it when you traded it? I’ve got an 06 charger with a 3.5 v6 wanting to sell mine for a g37 I need a fun reliable car under 5k lol

My 1989 f150 is red, 5.0 V8, only issue is the casual minor oil leak and only issue I have had with it was the starter, it has 111250 miles on it and I picked it up for 1500, great and reliable v8 truck that can steal some tires

I’d go with a crown Vic. You can get them for 3k with 100k miles and you get that v8 power. They were also police interceptors for decades so that says something about the reliability.

I've got an 85 Corvette, it gets people's attention for sure, and it was under 5,000 bucks. The market on marketplace is so oversaturated that you can get a pretty nice one for cheap. Would definitely recommend, especially because it's got a Chevy small block V8. Girls love it too.
Volvo 240. 5k can get you a fantastic condition example, with a bulletproof engine and ridiculously simple maintenance

The boxsters have a serious problem with the IMS crank bearing failing and causing catastrophic engine damage. It is a widespread problem with that entire generation. There are no warning signs either, it just fails randomly and suddenly. Until that's replaced preemptively (and it isn't cheap to do), I wouldn't consider them reliable.
I say a sn95 or a new edge they can be reliable and fun
OBS ford 4.9 I6 is tough as nails, 302 is a great motor to tinker and learn from, 351 is another great motor with loads of options for modding as well as you can really put any kind of trans in it since the E4OD is garbage water
Toyota mr2 spyder. It also happens to be the best mid engine car you can get under $5k as well.

In Europe it would be Opel/Vauxhall Omega last gen its RWD there are diesel engines and petrol either inline 4 or v6 and very nice ones are very cheap and reasonable ones are even cheaper and they are quite reliable
I own a slk 230 r171 03 and for the 2 grand I spent to buy it it'd been far the best car I've owned you can upgrade the pully as well for more hp!
