Scat singing, common to jazz, has similar roots. Bjork has been in touch with that growing up in a family of musicians. Bjork and David Bowie are on a rare plane when combining many forms of art and creativity into a performance that pays homage to the past yet thrusts into the future. Few have pulled it off so well.
