To be honest she seems more connected to and from Earth than most - I think that groundedness and relation to the Earth is absolutely and especially integrally part of an Icelandic identity
I feel you though- some people have almost a godly quality - for me other living examples would be Werner Herzog or Martha Argerich ~

You look back on this and you cannot help but think "F me, that woman had a musical vision". Imagine how many people would be (helpfully) trying to tell you to do it differently, more conventionally, more 'audience friendly' but she just dives in there, full on.
We've become a little accustomed over the years to hearing Bjork, but her work is really extraordinary.. What a great artist

She looks especially beautiful here, and her talents as a musician are simply astounding. Here's an artist who writes and arranges all here own material which happens to be musically sophisticated, totally original, with mass crossover appeal. They're very few artists in any medium you've done that.

Not so far from the truth. If you visit Iceland you'll find it's a remote island with a striking semblance to the landscape of our moon or something you'd find in a sci-fi show like Star Trek or video game like No Man's Sky. Disconnected from the rest of the world, and with tiny population density, it truly is like a foreign planet. So the analogy isn't far off in her case.

She sacrifices vocal health to deliver the perfect pitch note time after time. She's willing to hurt her own voice to achieve the most beautiful sounds. I guess it's because she understands that in the end, holding back to preserve something that will one day inevitably degrade and decompose (the body) makes no sense since it would impede her creation process, which is her priority.

She is ancient soul, and in old, better days only talented gifted people could be art priestess. Today they made from music the same tool for cruelty like love and sensualness. In 1993 I was about 17-18yo, and in job corps in Estacada Oregon and my great friend Tomas Starbuck, who was in love with Bjork, shared some of her music with me, and I too was instantly taken by her cuteness, musical and lyrical , not to mention visual mastery. She is truly one of the most amazing and uniquely creative people we have had in our short time on this planet. Thank you Bjork for your contribution in making this life more beautiful.

songs now a days are written by like 5-6 different people and artist today rarely write their own songs (the mainstream ones), but people like Bjork and Tori Amos write the lyrics and the music. THAT'S talent right there. sure anyone can sing but to be able to sing AND write the music and words is another level of talent. I cant wait when Bjork and Tori Amos get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. Kate Bush FINALLY did.

1st of all I'm deeply thankful for growing up in the 90's, music was everything and in every shape and color. Hearing artists like Bjork sounded like entering in the future where everything was possible, so vibrant, creative and intricate.

Peak Bjork, wish I could have seen her during this era but the tickets used to sell out in less than 5 min. I love the live strings, harpischord and lapsteel. So soooo good!

I've been watching a lot of videos of Björk live, and I can't get over how well her passion and emotion cross over to the viewer. I get so immersed in her voice, and visual, and the music, and just everything. She's such a skilled singer and she knows how to use her voice to connect and convey ideas and feelings, which just gets people so immersed. I hope one day I can hear her sing in person.

Thee have only been a few truly unique singer-artists in the history of music. They each mastered their individual instrument. had a tone that was impossible to duplicate, and crafted stunning original setpieces for their own artistry. Billie Holiday was one. Joni Mitchel another. And then there is Bjork. Her inimitable tone. Melodic inventiveness. Emotional weight. And lyrical intensity are unmatched. What an artist!

I'd include Enya and Kate Bush in that. They basically invented their own genre and it's impossible for others to truly cover it and keep it's essence.
