As we wait for Deltarune Chapter 3 today I wanted to go over some Useless Facts and Useless Information about Undertale. From the most pointless pieces of text to the weirdest trivia about the game. I tried covering as many facts as possible including lore easter eggs unused and glitches in the game. I didn't go over Deltarune Chapter 2 because I figured since this is about Undertale I think I should focus on that like with Sans and Papyrus rather than from another game. These facts truly are 10 minutes of useless information and you will probably never need them. You're welcome!

Undertale is a game made by Toby Fox. TobyFox also made Deltarune. It has a variety of different characters such as Sans Papyrus Frisk Undyne Flowey Alphys Toriel and Asgore and secret ones such as Chara and Gaster. Although I didn't really talk about W.D Gaster or the Gaster Followers in this video poor Dr. Gaster. And Deltarune characters such as Kris Susie Ralsei Noelle Queen and Spamton and Spamton NEO and Berdly do not appear in this video. This isn't a theory or an Undertale fangame or mod and this isn't Deltarune Snowgrave which is that weird route. And I don't think I used the Undertale OST or Deltarune Soundtrack in this video either as I wanted to give some variety. Although I did play Megalovania a bit here and there as well as talk about Hopes and Dreams and Flowey's Theme but this isn't Undertale Genocide and there wasn't much of it. This is 10 Minutes of Useless Undertale Information.

Toby was actually able to get the code that deletes the game to work, but he scrapped it because some antivirus softwares would detect it as malware once it was deleted
I think it was actually because steam wouldn't allow your game to delete files (like with inscryption) so he had to change it

The "That's a wonderful idea" voice line of Flowey isn't the only line taken from the McDonald's commercial. Just about every piece of his voice (such as the evil laugh or the cringing in pain from you attacking him when he becomes Omega Flowey) are also from said commercial or other McDonald's commercials.
actually, flowey's laugh is an edited version of a laugh from the warner bros. sound effect library. toby's actually used the sound effect in a few homestuck tracks, such as "the lordling" and "a very trickster mode christmas (with fancy santas)."

I'm kind of bummed about flowey not crashing the game anymore because it scared players. I thought freaking out the player was the whole point of that

I mean that's only for the console versions. The original Steam version still crashes the game.
Crashing is a lot bigger of a deal on console, the game literally freezes for a while and then you get an error code telling you to try again later, its not like on pc where it just closes

A personal favorite fact of mine:
In a series of old, deleted tweets, Toby mentioned that he found a quiche under a bench, then, hours later, tweeted something in the style of undertale flavour text, describing how "you"(meaning Frisk) experience a tremour of shame at the mere thought of dropping the Quiche, which ultimately never made it into the game but aligns with how the Quiche is treated as an analogy for abandoned children and how Frisk seems to sympathize with it.
Toby found a quiche under a bench and within hours had plans to add it to his game as a way of implying that his silent protagonist is an abandoned child, and that is hilarious to me.
-Also, not to be that guy but Boss Monster Aging is just reliant on if they have living biological parents/children. The parent's soul power flows into the child, aging both at the same time. Nothing to do with the current age of the parent and child, only on there being at least one of both. Asgore and Toriel were, in fact, aging while Asriel was alive.-
I knew the Boss monster fact already, but does that mean that an orphan boss monster will stay as a child forever? If yes, then that's sad af.

Also, then that would mean that twins or siblings of Boss monsters would age slower and stop aging faster, as there is less energy passing through because there is the same amount of parents and more children. Maybe boss monsters can only make one kid at a time, but then they would go extinct because every couple can only have one kid, halving the population every generation
i bet cursed 3d toriel model is canon to deltarune. We saw on the computer that Asriel was interested in making games. Maybe at one point he got into 3d modelling and practiced by turning people he knows into fantasy characters. Like maybe the context for 3d toriel is that shes a generic "fire mage" rather than the queen of the underground and caretaker of the ruins we know her as in undertale.
Nah, Toriel is cursed so she turns into a bloodthirsty low quality 3d model every full moon.

I Hope 3D Toriel appears in Deltarune at some point, maybe as an error message? Imagine playing the 16-bit graphics game and all of a sudden your screen turns black and this GCN-esque version of your mother starts to fade in while rotating lol

The fact that I used to read trivia on the undertale wiki for fun and I’m STILL learning new secrets about this game over seven years later is wild. Nice job on the video.
Another fun fact that I suppose is related to this video: Undyne supposedly got arrested once and had to do puzzles as community service. You can find this by going in Waterfall after you’ve been there, with the puzzle guy in that one room with the 1 block, and calling Undyne & Papyrus 2 times. :)

After being in this fandom from the start and dedicating myself to learning random trivia about it, here's what I still learned:
-Activity level
-Unused monsters dropping items
-Muffet's fight also being able to be skipped by buying 500 spider ciders
Hang on... that "unused" Chara sprite (which looks like Kris)?
I heard somewhere that, on the PC version, pressing Space in the room in Waterfall with the reflective puddles would swap out your reflection with that sprite.
Idk if that's true though.

5:06 Not exactly right; if you look at Sans's battle sprite in Genocide (or True Pacifist), you can see he *is* wearing slippers. They just aren't shown in the overworld for some reason.

Here's my theory for how 3D Toriel is canon:
After Toriel left, Asgore was so heartbroken that he took her DNA (let's say a few hairs from her throne) and gave them to the royal scientist to try to clone her. Unfortunately, due to an error, the clone came out extremely unstable and broken. It was so degenerated, it was able to alter physics and passed through the barrier with no problem. It now wanders through the surface, weirding the heck out of anyone it meets. Feel free to chip in with your own ideas.
Or also as someone else said here, it also could be that 3D Toriel is presents in asriel’s videogame in deltarune. If it’s true, it means that the two universes are connected

The Megalovania in Smash thing has an extra layer of complexity, since Toby was originally going to use "Megalomania" from Live A Live in his romhack. Square Enix is _also_ very protective of their property.

For the Flowey theme being similar to the Fun Song, I have a theory that this is actually a universal theme for innocence, as I find it also VERY SIMILAR to "Theme 2" from Kirby's Avalanche, and "Lemon Tree" by Fool's Garden. Anyone else know completely unrelated songs with this leitmotif?

2:12 this texture is actually used in the game. in waterfall when you're walking through the rainy hallway during a genocide run, this texture has a small chance of being your reflection in the puddles on the ground!
This makes me think, due to it being genocide, that that was Chara's original sprite, and when the sprite was updated Toby forgot to change the reflection.

extra info related to the lab ground and lamp outline: MTT Resort uses like 3 different indistinguishable purple-greys. found this out by working with the spriting for a project, and it caused me SO much pain to find out. did you also know that noelle's sprite from deltarune has exactly two pixels of nigh invisible shading above her eyes, and ralsei's talk sprites don't match the overworld sprite palette green/pink.

Buying 500 spider ciders in the ruins equals to spending exactly 9000 gold. I'm guessing the game checks if you spent at least 9000 G on spider food before the Muffet encounter.
fun fact: it's not just the "that's a wonderful idea" that got used from the commercial. one of photoshop flowey's voice lines seems to be taken from ronald saying "can'tcha," and there are three unused voice lines that seem to say "hi," "triple," and "jafe (whatever that means)." however, they also seem to come from the same commercial, with ronald saying "ah," "triple (the only word that actually matches," and "shake," as the commercial seemed to be advertising milkshakes (i think?).
The "unused" chara sprite is used, but difficult to see. In waterfall if you have debug on, you have to press space I think when you're on top of the reflective puddles.

the fact that ive actually learned new things about undertale from this video even after like 7 years of me being in the fandom really shows how much thought and care toby put into the game.

yknow, as someone who had a hyperfixation on undertale for like... two years after it was released, and then again once deltarune came out? I'm surprised that I didn't know multiple facts here (mostly the visual effects like the lamp and hotland, but also the merch stuff and the activity levels bit).. then again I'm more of a lore and gameplay person, so I just know stuff like different dialogue options depending on what you've done before even across save files... the different ways to get different flags in the ball game on the way to snowdin... all the places to speedrun glitch and what they do... pretty easy things to remember when you've played/watched someone play the game like a billion times

Random fact: Alphys’ theme, along with Noelle’s and Berdly’s all lack any sort of way to tie them back to the rest of the OST’s
The rest of Undertale’s main cast, as well as Susie and Lancer’s themes are all connected in some sort of way.
For example, how does one get from Lancer’s theme to Spear of Justice? Lancers theme is in Chaos King, which has The Legend in it.
Quiet Autumn has The Legend as well as Quiet Water. Quiet water has Ruins, and Spear of Justice also has Ruins.
Alternatively you can skip bothering with quiet autumn and go to THE WORLD REVOLVING, which is in BIG SHOT, which has Power of NEO in it, which is based on Battle Against a True Hero, which has the variation of the Ruins melody found in An ending/Don’t Give Up!/Respite, and ruins is once again in Spear of Justice
I mean Berdly's motif is used in attack of the killer Queen

Noelle Theme is in Lost Girl, which in one of the versions Toby shared on Twitter has Susie's theme, which is in VS Susie, which includes Your Best Nightmare, which includes Your Best Friend, which appears in Hopes and Dreams, which contains Once Upon a Time, which is in Dogtarune (chapter 1 dogcheck), which has Dogsong, which is in Enemy Approaching, which is in Heartache, which is in Asgore, which is in Spear of Justice
Alternatively, you could say Your Best Nightmare is in The Dark Truth, which has Don't Forget, and link it back through The World Revolving to Big Shot and so on

Awesome video, learned some stuff. I once again got a reminder of how much useless information I just know about this game. Here's 3 bits of useless info I can think of off the top of my head.
1. If you change your name in the save file, in the stat menu a message that says "Easy to change, huh?" appears.
2. There's an unused sprite called spr_torboss_suicide, it's her hurt sprite but she's smiling instead of grimacing. She never does something like that in the game. However, Asgore does, if you try to spare him after killing flowey.
3. In the code for the Toriel Fight Intro, there's a check that checks for the kill count in Ruins AND Snowdin. The counts are checking to see if the kills match the Genocide route amount. If they are met, (easy to check via debug mode, or save file editing or modifying the code itself) different dialogue plays "* Prove to me that you
are... * Hey, let me finish" and then the fight starts on its own. It is interesting to note that if you do the Genocide route on the Demo, these lines do actually show up. But in the final game, since it is normally impossible to get to Snowdin without fighting Toriel, these lines go unused.
4:41 if you pause at the perfect frame you’ll see that Toriel actually feels bad for killing Frisk
:D it's pointed out in the Official Undertale Cross Stitch Book that Undyne's head is one pixel shorter while she's not wearing her armor than it is when she's helmetless in her armor. Toby, while pointing this out, says that he guesses that's canon now.

I thought I knew EVERY single fact and secret about Undertale, even the most obscure ones... and even though I did already know about half of the stuff in this video, you still surprised me with a lot of stuff I DIDN'T know. Undertale's really one of those games where you're always learning something new about it.
