    wow I literally dropped my tank two weeks ago and got it in last week! (was waiting on new gaskets and fuel filters form MAP) it sure was a pain in the ass lol i was on 4 jacks on pavement driveway so it was a pain but not impossible! Now the tank is clean inside out w degreaser and new clean hardware. definitely a peace of mind knowing what shape its in. thanks for the video great points!

    Good stuff man. Honestly, I think you guys with the RS diff have it easier. I will NOT wish to try this on my AYC rear setup. Glad I could give you a lil help with the part numbers, etc.

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, i forgot about the AYC stuff. The evo X's here have it and some people swap to the non-ayc rear diff from the USDM evo 8/9 or ralliarts.

    • @jayryia
      @jayryia 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoostedFilms yup! I actually am considering the swap as you can't service the AYC as there's no parts available for it... they just sell the one whole unit and it's ridiculously expensive new or used.

  • @chrisdavis4622

    I had to do this to replace my fuel temp sensor. I did it in my garage solo, utilizing a combination of a floor jack and tranny jack to hold everything in place while I hopped side to side loosening and maneuvering everything. Definitely worst job to do without a lift lol.

    • @K2theK-b6u
      @K2theK-b6u 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why didn't you just disable the check engine in the rom? AFAIK the fuel temp sensor is not really necessary, and alternatively you can run a IAT sensor before the TB.

    • @chrisdavis4622
      @chrisdavis4622 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@K2theK-b6u I'm on speed density with an iat sensor. Bad Fuel temp sensor was affecting my afrs. My tuner at the time wasnt easy to get a hold of so replacing it was less of a hassle lol.

    • @K2theK-b6u
      @K2theK-b6u 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisdavis4622 Was your tuner tscomp? Regardless in the tune, you can set the afrs to be adjusted based on iat or fuel temp. So all you needed was to fix that in the tune and it would've ran fine.

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Surface rust and most of what looks ugly is not really an issue. However there is one spot that concerns me that is more structural in the rear.

  • @Driver732
    @Driver732 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I also had a black/white cat named Oreo that we had to put down last weekend. Go pet the cat lol. Anyways, I bet a lot of Evo's out there are just as rusty underneath. Only difference is that some sellers spray undercoating to hide the problem so they can get top dollar on BaT. Then the unsuspecting buyer gets screwed a few years later. POR did not work for me, I just scrape, then use rust converter and fluid film on my 9.

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry about your cat. Crazy coincidence though, the black & white kitten in the video is also "Elsa Oreo" (my 4 year old girl need to add the frozen movie name in there). Do you re-apply the fluid film often? Or is that only needed it you continually drive the vehicle in winter climates?

    • @Driver732
      @Driver732 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoostedFilms I re-apply the fluid film yearly because the oil film does eventually come off after normal driving through rain, etc. I usually spray it every fall right before winter/snow hits. I made a quick video and found it to work quite well. Only con is when you wrench under the car, it gets messy lol

    Fun fact - EVO7 fuel tank is smaller then the evo8 and 9 one, so 8 and 9 tanks wont fit the evo7.
    Had to learn it the hard way 😁

    • @BoostedFilms
      @BoostedFilms  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      interesting. Can you be more detailed as to why it would not fit? Did the mounting holes not line up? I've heard this jdm tank holds less fuel that the usdm version.

    • @jayryia
      @jayryia 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BoostedFilms Nah, just the evo 7 one in particular. They used a 48 litre tank, then when they realized the horrible mileage it got, they made the tank slightly larger to 55 litres... same as you all have states side. But there are subtle differences in the tank design, like the hump on top for the 8 tanks, the 7 is more flat. I think because of that, the area it has to fit up to, would not bolt up properly. I'll have to check the numbers and see if the 8/9 floor possibly carries a different part code.

    • @RyanLAT
      @RyanLAT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The floor, where the tank sits on a evo 7 has less space, its shallower, the mounting holes and everything else is the same. So if you try to put a evo8 or evo9 tank on the evo 7, you wont be able to do that, it will hit the floor
